Ben & Jerry’s Co-Founder Explains Why America Needs Bernie Sanders

In just a few days, we’ll have the results from the Iowa caucus, and so far this has already been a race for the record books. Nobody had expected Bernie Sanders to present a real challenge to Hillary Clinton, but today, he’s neck and neck with her in early primary states. His surge is happening because people are tired of the influence that corporations have over our democracy, and because people are excited about a politician that actually appears to be honest. History Tells Us: Winning Iowa Doesn’t Mean Jack

Every candidate is hoping to leave Iowa with the Iowa bounce – a wave of support that victors typically experience after coming in first during the first caucus. But in recent years, that bounce hasn’t carried the winner of Iowa to the White House. For example, in the 2012 Republican caucus, Rick Santorum took Iowa. In 2008, Mike Huckabee won for the Republicans, and in 2004, Dick Gephart took the title for the Democrats only to later drop out when it became clear that John Kerry was the favorite.

Is Hillary Struggling In The Polls A Fluke, Or Is Bernie The Real Deal?

Both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been debating whether or not the Vermont Senator’s single-payer healthcare plan is possible – and the answer is that yes, it certainly is – but that seems to be the lowest thing on the list for the Democratic candidates at the moment.

The problem that Hillary Clinton has at the moment is that all of her problems from the past 6 months have come back, some of which because they were never properly handled by Clinton in the first place.
