Michigan GOP Official Calls For Another Kent State For Campus Protesters

A Republican Party official in northern Michigan has issued what amounts to a death threat against American college protesters, calling for “another Kent State” in the wake of protests at the University of California, Berkeley.

In 1970, members of the Ohio National Guard fired on unarmed Kent State University students protesting the U.S. incursion into Cambodia. Guardsmen killed four students and wounded nine, including one who was paralyzed for life.

Dan Adamini, former chair and current secretary of the Marquette County Republican Party, indicated that a single death might be sufficient to end student protests this time around.

“I’m thinking another Kent State might be the only solution protest stopped after only one death,” he posted on Facebook on Thursday. “They do it because they know there are no consequences yet.”

He also tweeted: “Violent protesters who shut down free speech? Time for another Kent State perhaps. One bullet stops a lot of thuggery.”

Muslim American superhero Ms. Marvel has become a real-world protest icon

In 2014, Marvel introduced its new comics iteration of Ms. Marvel: Kamala Khan, the first Muslim American superhero to get her own Marvel solo title. A nerdy, Tumblr-reading, wisecracking Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey, devoted to justice and fangirling Wolverine, the new Ms. Marvel was an instant hit. As written by Muslim American writer G. Willow Wilson, Kamala Khan broke records and stereotypes: Her debut issue received a rare sixth printing, and the character quickly became a beloved cosplay staple at geek conventions.

But since her debut, Kamala has also become something more: a real-world emblem of protest against Islamophobia. Back in 2015, the San Francisco street art activist group Street Cred deployed her image in response to a series of racist bus ads that had been bought by an anti-Muslim group. The artists strategically vandalized the ads using Kamala’s image, encouraging passersby to spread love, not hate, for the Muslim community.

Now, amid the tumultuous political and cultural climate following the election of President Donald Trump and his recent “Muslim ban,” Kamala has emerged as the leader of a band of social-justice-driven superheroes. Claimed by protesters and wielded across social media, Ms. Marvel, along with iconic superheroes like Captain America and Wonder Woman, has become a symbol of resistance to the sweeping changes Trump issued during his first week in office.

Artist Phil Noto recently remixed one of his own comics covers in order to symbolize Kamala’s reaction to a Trump presidency. In the original, a variant of Civil War II, Issue #0, Kamala is depicting a falling-out with her idol and mentor, Captain Marvel. Here, she’s making a fiercely anti-Trump statement.

New York Post picks up on Gorshund 'Fascism Forever' story.

Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, founded and led a student group called Fascism Forever Club while in an elite high school, according to a report.

The 49-year-old conservative Republican tapped to succeed the late Antonin Scalia launched the right-wing club as a freshman at the Jesuit all-boys Georgetown Preparatory School near Washington, DC, the Daily Mail reported.

He served as president of the group until he graduated in 1985, according to his yearbook, the paper reported.

“In political circles, our tireless President Gorsuch’s ‘Fascism Forever Club’ happily jerked its knees against the increasingly ‘left-wing’ tendencies of the faculty,” said the yearbook.

Gorsuch — the youngest Supreme Court nominee since 43-year-old Clarence Thomas in 1991 — is seen in a yearbook photo reading William F. Buckley’s 1959 conservative tome “Up from Liberalism.”

I think Melania and Barron are enjoying their time away from Agent Orange

he White House could get a little lonely for President Trump.

First Lady Melania Trump and their 10-year-old son Barron may never permanently relocate to Washington, D.C., even though President Trump has said they'll make the move from New York City at the conclusion of the school year, Us Weekly reports.

"They will reevaluate toward the end of the school year if they will keep this arrangement or if Melania and Barron will move to Washington," a source close to the family told the magazine. "They could go either way right now. They will ultimately do what's best for Barron."

President Trump announced in November that Melania and his youngest child would remain in New York for the first few months of his presidency as Barron finishes his fourth grade year at a Manhattan prep school.

Military Convoy Flying Trump Flag Belonged to SEAL Unit

The military convoy spotted on Sunday flying a Donald Trump flag near Louisville belonged to an East Coast-based SEAL unit, a Navy spokesperson told ABC News.

Military officials have launched an inquiry to determine if any misconduct can be linked to the incident. Regulations do not permit an unauthorized flag on a military vehicle.

Photos and a video of the convoy spread quickly on social media, with many questioning the identity of the occupants and whether the vehicles belonged to a military unit or were military surplus.

The video shot on Sunday on a highway near Louisville showed the lead vehicle of a convoy flying a large blue Donald Trump flag from an antenna.

The vehicles did not have any identifiable markings and the mystery deepened when local military bases in Kentucky said that the vehicles did not belong to their units.

"The convoy were service members assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit driving vehicles while transiting between two training locations," Lieutenant Jacqui Maxwell, a spokesperson for Naval Special Warfare Group 2, told ABC News. Naval Special Warfare Units is the official Navy term for its elite SEAL special operations teams.
