George Takei urges fellow Sanders supporters: Abandon ‘family squabble’ and back Clinton

Actor and activist George Takei released a video on Wednesday on his Facebook page urging fellow supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to unite behind fellow Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Ultimately, we Democrats know that a bit of a tussle isn’t a bad thing — it makes us stronger. Keeps us sharp,” he said. “And really, it’s like a family squabble, where only family — those very close to us — can truly get under our skin. But remember this, too: it’s precisely because we like and respect each other that the words and criticisms sting as much as they do.”

Takei released the video a day after Clinton scored victories in four out of five primaries over Sanders. The Star Trek and Allegiance star had voiced his support for Sanders earlier in the campaign.

In the video, he noted that both candidates agree on issues like womens’ reproductive health, LGBT rights advocacy, separation of church and state and supporting the Affordable Care Act. He also recalled Sanders’ statement last November that if Clinton won the general election, she would be “an infinitely better candidate and President than the Republican candidate on his best day.”

“If Bernie believes that, his supporters can, too,” Takei said.

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. WANTS IRON MAN 4

There is once again talk of Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man 4.

A few weeks ago saw Robert Downey Jr. mention if they did an Iron Man 4, he would want it to be his swan song where he plays more the villain role.

At the time, Robert Downey Jr. "didn't think it was in the cards," but now things may have changed.

In an featurette/interview with ABC News (watch below) for Captain America: Civil War, Robert Downey Jr. is seen stating, " I feel like I can do one more."

Reportedly, the reason for no Iron Man 4 was due to problems with Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter who didn't want to pay RDJ all the money to star in another solo film. It's possible now that Kevin Feige has ousted Perlmutter and the Marvel creative comics/TV people from any involvement in Marvel Studios, that Robert Downey Jr. may be able to star in Iron Man 4.

Let's hope so.

Sanders Campaign letting field workers go.

Per Politico on my phone. The Sanders campaign is releasing field workers in Indiana.

Updated: As pointed out, the layoffs took place in states that already voted. Time to stop reading my phone on the run.

Jane Doe Found Stabbed 150 Times Near Manson Killings Identified After 40 Years

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police have identified the body of a woman found stabbed 150 times in 1969 near the site of the Manson family killings as a 19-year-old from Montreal, People magazine reported Wednesday.

Police have identified the woman as Reet Jurvetson, who moved to Los Angeles from Montreal the year she was killed, according to People.

Los Angeles police Detective Luis Rivera told the magazine that investigators can't rule out that the Manson family was involved in the killing. He said the best lead police have is a man known as "John," whom Jurvetson met in Toronto before flying to Los Angeles to see him the summer of 1969.

Jurvetson's body was found Nov. 16, 1969, by a birdwatcher in dense brush off the iconic Mulholland Drive. She had been stabbed 150 times and didn't have identification.

"It was personal," Rivera told People. "It was a maniac ... or love gone wrong."

After going unidentified for years, Jurvetson eventually became known Jane Doe No. 59. The location and timing of her killing, just a few miles away from several Manson family murders, has long fueled speculation that Jurvetson's case was connected.

Police are working to solve the murder, with Rivera saying, "No one deserves what happened to her."

"It's our job to find out who's responsible and bring them to justice," he said.

Campaign Mystery: Why Don't Bernie Sanders' Big Rallies Lead To Big Wins?

Since last summer, when Sanders' huge rallies got him noticed by the national media, there's been a lot of discussion of an "enthusiasm gap" between Sanders and Clinton.

But in a recent Gallup poll, it was Clinton, not Sanders, who had the lead in enthusiasm among supporters. Fifty-four percent of Clinton supporters said they were "extremely" or "very enthusiastic" about their candidate, compared to 44 percent of Sanders' supporters.

It may be Clinton supporters are just less vocal, less likely to spend hours on social media praising their candidate or to show up at a concert-style rally (Clinton's campaign has also shied away from planning large events).

If big crowds meant big wins at the polls, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and former Texas Rep. Ron Paul would both be president. But election after election, crowd size has been an unreliable predictor of winning.

"The people at the rally are not a random or representative sample of the electorate," says Lynn Vavreck, a professor of political science and communication studies at University of California, Los Angeles. "These are strategic and well-planned events. This isn't just happening."
