Kushner will not be under oath in front of Intelligence Committee

Senior aide and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner will not be asked to take the oath while testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Monday.

Kushner will speak behind closed doors to the committee but he won’t be required to swear an oath, according to The Washington Post.

“That arrangement still poses [a] significant legal risk to someone under investigation,” The Post explained.

Though, if Kushner were to purger himself under oath, his father-in-law has done research in recent days to better understand the process for presidential pardons.

“No one who has paid any attention to this administration should doubt that if Kushner ever needs a pardon, he will get one,’’ said former federal prosecutor Justin Dillon.

Kushner adds at least $10 million in assets he 'inadvertently omitted' to disclosure

President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner "inadvertently omitted" more than 70 assets worth at least $10.6 million from his personal financial disclosure reports, according to revised paperwork released Friday.

The previously unreported assets were included in updated disclosure reports certified by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics on Thursday as part of the "ordinary review process," according to Kushner's filing.

Among the new set of assets Kushner disclosed, which could be worth as much as $51 million, he reported owning an art collection worth between $5 million and $25 million. The new forms also reflect that Kushner sold his interest in an aging shopping mall along the Jersey Shore, and no longer has a stake in a company that had held an interest in apartments in Toledo, Ohio.
Kushner also clarified his $5 million to $25 million stake in a holding company that owns Cadre, a real estate tech startup he co-founded with his brother, Joshua, that investors valued at $800 million.

Kushner's wife and the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, also filed new federal disclosures. She reported assets of at least $66 million and earned at least $13.5 million in income last year from her various business ventures, including more than $2.4 million from the new Trump hotel near the White House.

Saudi police arrest model for wearing Skirt in Public.

Saudi Arabia is leading a propaganda campaign falsely accusing Qatar of supporting extremism in the Middle East, but it just arrested a young model named Khulud for taking a walk at a historic site in Najd wearing a halter and a skirt. The Saudi government insists, despite temperatures of 111 F. in the shade, that women cover themselves up in black robes.

That big black robe accompanied by a complete face veil, called a niqab, is actively forbidden in modern urban societies such as Egypt.

One of the reasons even Middle Eastern governments are afraid of the niqab is that it obscures identity. The state, as James Scott argued, wants its citizens to be transparent to it. Hence, the demand for a first and last name (that was imposed on Iran in the early 1930s by military dictator cum shah, Reza the Great). When somone is wearing a niqab you don’t know their real gender or age. Guerrillas in Algeria during its war of independence from France used to fool the police by dressing as women in niqab. You’d be surprised what you can hide in those robes.

Making women non-transparent, as Saudi Arabia routinely does, renders them second class citizens.

The extremists who kill women and children in acts of terrorism first strip them of any human identity, which is easier if they are in essence already buried under a niqab and its robes.

The extremists who traffic in and enslave women, who beat and abuse them, are in part inspired by a Saudi/Wahhabi vision of gender relations. Women are erased in public, which therefore means woman are second class citizens. They cannot move around without a male guardian.

Donald Trump Jr. Was Likely Paid at Least $50,000 for Event Held by Hosts Allied With Russia

President Donald Trump’s eldest son was likely paid at least $50,000 for an appearance late last year before a French think tank whose founder and his wife are allies of the Russian government in efforts to end the war in Syria.

Donald Trump Jr. addressed a dinner on Oct. 11 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, hosted by the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs. Its president, Fabien Baussart, and his Syrian-born wife, Randa Kassis, have cooperated with Russia in its drive to end the Syrian civil war, according to U.S., European and Arab officials.

In December, Mr. Baussart formally nominated Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mrs. Kassis is a leader of a political faction endorsed by Russia in negotiations to end the war in Syria. The couple said they don’t represent Russia and are solely focused on ending the Syrian conflict.

The meeting in October represents one in a string of contacts over the past year between members of the president’s inner circle and individuals connected to Moscow and to Russian interests. The Wall Street Journal in November reported Donald Trump Jr.’s appearance at the event.

HuffPost: ACA Repeal Needs 60 votes.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) seemed to declare defeat over his efforts to pass the Senate’s controversial health care bill and said Monday night that the chamber will instead vote to repeal Obamacare and then replace it later.

“Regretfully, it is now apparent that the effort to repeal and immediately replace the failure of Obamacare will not be successful,” McConnell said in a statement. He continued to say the Senate would take up an earlier House bill and vote for “a repeal of Obamacare with a two-year delay to provide for a stable transition period to a patient-centered healthcare system.”

Any proposals for a “clean repeal” of the Affordable Care Act have been unpopular in both parties, and it would take 60 votes in the Senate for an outright repeal. Republicans in that chamber hold a 52-seat majority.

It’s unclear when McConnell plans to hold a vote for the delayed repeal-and-replace, but the Senate is expected to remain in session until Aug. 11 before going on a recess.

McConnell calls for vote to straight-up repeal ACA in 2 days.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday night called for a vote on a bill to repeal Obamacare without an immediate replacement after the latest Republican effort to overhaul the U.S. health-care system failed.

"Regretfully, it's now apparent that the effort to repeal and immediately replace the failure of Obamacare will not be successful," McConnell said in a statement. "So, in the coming days, the Senate will vote to take up the House bill with the first amendment in order being what a majority of the Senate has already supported in 2015 and that was vetoed by then-President Obama: a repeal of Obamacare with a two-year delay to provide for a stable transition period to a patient-centered health care system that gives Americans access to quality, affordable care."

It came as President Donald Trump urged Republican lawmakers to repeal Obamacare first, and then come up with a solution for replacing it.
