Pat Robertson: 'Girl-On-Girl Movies' Make Young People Think They're Gay

Today on “The 700 Club,” a viewer asked host Pat Robertson how she should handle the news that her 21-year-old daughter is in a same-sex relationship. In response, Robertson gladly offered up some of his patented bad advice for the parents of LGBT kids.

“She needs somebody to help her get her identity straight,” he said. “She may not be right in this, she may have thought she has a crush on some older girl along the way and she’s actually homosexual when she’s not, I don’t know. Why is she that way? Was she molested when she was younger?”

After co-host Terry Meeuwsen lamented that people are “telling kids to explore, it’s crazy,” Robertson criticized “the girl-on-girl movies” where “they’re getting straight actresses to play lesbians and straight men to play homosexuals and if you say anything against homosexuality you are just hooted out of court.”

“You need to love your daughter and give her a chance to work this out because if she gets deeper and deeper in it, sooner or later she is going to be disillusioned and say, ‘this is wrong, I want to come out of it,’” he added.

Mine Worker Allegedly Fired For Not Donating To GOP Candidates

A mine worker says she was fired because she did not donate to Murray Energy CEO Robert Murray's favored GOP candidates, according to a lawsuit filed last week in a West Virginia court.

The complaint, first reported by the Charleston Gazette, claims that Jean F. Cochenour, a former Murray Energy foreman at a Marion County mine in West Virginia, received multiple letters from the CEO instructing her to donate to specific GOP candidates with strong pro-coal positions, and even included recommended donation sums for Republican Senate candidates like Scott Brown and Terri Land.

Cochenour was then fired in early May for her refusal to donate, and her for gender, she claims. She was reportedly the only female preparation plant foreman at the company.

In response to an inquiry from The Huffington Post, a spokesperson for Murray Energy called the lawsuit "baseless," "blatantly false" and "an attempt to extort money" from the company.

Seniors Forced Into Poverty As Education Department Demands Payment

The Education Department is demanding so much money from seniors with defaulted student loans that it's forcing tens of thousands of them into poverty, according to a government audit.

At least 22,000 Americans aged 65 and older had a part of their Social Security benefits garnished last year to the point that their monthly benefits were below federal poverty thresholds, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Education Department-initiated collections on defaulted federal student loans left at least another 83,000 Americans aged 64 and younger with poverty-level Social Security payments, GAO data show. Federal auditors cautioned that the number of Americans forced to accept poverty-level benefits because of past defaults on federal student loans are surely higher.

More than half, or 54 percent, of federal student loans held by borrowers at least 75 years old are in default, according to the federal watchdog. About 27 percent of loans held by borrowers aged 65 to 74 are in default. Among borrowers aged 50 to 64, 19 percent of their loans are in default. The Education Department generally defines a default as being at least 360 days past due.

City living makes spiders big, fat and fertile, researchers say

Sure enough, the more urban the area, the bigger, fatter and more potentially fecund the spiders were. The researchers think this is in part because spiders tend to do better in warmer environments, and cities are "urban heat islands": Concrete and buildings tend to absorb heat rather than dissipate it the way moist earth and vegetation do.

It’s also possible that tasty insect meals tend to cluster near city lights, making them easier to catch, or that there tends to be a higher density in the boundaries between the fragmented patches of urban and wild lands.

Oddly enough, the spiders seemed to prefer luxurious living: Ovary weight also increased in areas with higher socioeconomic status.

“The increased expenditure and management of parks in wealthy suburbs could result in healthier vegetation patches,” the researchers wrote, “which would increase prey abundance and allow spiders to grow larger and build up fat reserves.”

Top GA Election Official Warns Dems Are Registering 'All These Minority Voters'

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp (R) warned that Democrats were registering minority voters and that needed to be matched by Republicans during a speech to Gwinnett Republicans in July.

Audio of Kemp's comments were flagged by the Democratic-leaning group Better Georgia and reported by ThinkProgress and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"In closing I just wanted to tell you, real quick, after we get through this runoff, you know the Democrats are working hard, and all these stories about them, you know, registering all these minority voters that are out there and others that are sitting on the sidelines, if they can do that, they can win these elections in November," Kemp said in his speech. "But we've got to do the exact same thing. I would encourage all of you, if you have an Android or an Apple device, to download that app, and maybe your goal is to register one new Republican voter."

In the same speech Kemp also mentioned ACORN.

"Everybody remembers ACORN right? When ACORN was out registering people to vote they were filling out applications, they were sending out stuff and you don't know who those people are, where they're from, the people they're registering, and the people that are filling those out," Kemp said earlier in the speech. Kemp went on to tout online voter registration which, he said, reduces a number of voter fraud loopholes.

Hannity Guest: 'Ray Rice Is The Bigger Victim Of Domestic Violence Here'

Conservative commentator A.J. Delgado said during a radio show on Wednesday that Ray Rice is a bigger victim of domestic violence than the woman he is accused of beating unconscious.

Delgado appeared on Fox News host Sean Hannity's radio show to discuss the video that reportedly shows the former Baltimore Ravens running back knocking out his then-fiancee in a New Jersey casino elevator.

"Some might even say watching that video that Ray Rice is the bigger victim of domestic violence here," Delgado told Hannity.

She said Janay Rice, who married the football star even after the incident, is being erroneously cast as the victim.

"I think that the key here is she doesn't consider herself a victim of domestic violence," Delgado said, before going off about the "liberal culture of domestic violence advocates that keeps talking about women's rights and empowering women."

CO: Cory Gardner, Bob Beauprez Attended GOP Event Hosted By Sandy Hook Shooting Truther

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who is running to unseat Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.), and former Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-Colo.), who is challenging Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), attended an Aug. 24 Republican Party steak fry at the home of Dr. Tom Ready, a candidate for Pueblo County Commissioner. Photos of the event were shared on Facebook.

In a Sept. 10 debate, Ready's Democratic opponent asked him why he had shared an article on Facebook claiming that the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, that killed 26 people was actually a hoax arranged by the federal government to advance gun control policies.

"There is some question whether it really happened," Ready responded.

As the crowd booed, Ready explained his theory.

"Some people in the videos, thank you very much, if you recall, there was a picture of a man walking in whose daughter had died. He was smiling and joking. When he walked into the room he turned and all of a sudden had tears in his eyes. Why? I question that."

“I don’t think [the Sandy Hook shootings have] been proven," he added. "And what’s wrong with open discussion?”

Sons of Anarchy Season Premier: My take on what's coming (SPOILER ALERT)

Jax Teller has to die. No, not because I dislike him (and I do), but because he's taken the MC into a bloody war with the Mayans and the Chinese to avenge the death of his wife, Tara. Sooner or later, someone's going to stand back and realize that a "hit" one someone (in this case, Tara) does not involve a carving fork to the back of the head. The president may have this moment of clarity first and dispatch his scheming mother, either Bobby, Chibs or both may look at the carnage that Jax's clouded judgment has wrought and decide that, for the good of the club, he has to go.

Georgia GOPer Complains About Excessive Black Voting

A Republican state senator in Georgia has vowed to end Sunday balloting in DeKalb County due to the fact that the area is "dominated by African American shoppers and it is near several large African American mega churches."

The news was flagged by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In a longwinded email state Sen. Frank Millar (pictured) rants that Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal "appointee Interim CEO Lee May has disappointed those of us that hoped he could help bring the county together."

Millar goes on to note that DeKalb county happens to include a number of African American mega churches.

"Now we are to have Sunday voting at South DeKalb Mall just prior to the election," Millar wrote in the email. "Per Jim Galloway of the AJC, this location is dominated by African American shoppers and it is near several large African American mega churches such as New Birth Missionary Baptist. Galloway also points out the Democratic Party thinks this is a wonderful idea – what a surprise. I’m sure Michelle Nunn and Jason Carter are delighted with this blatantly partisan move in DeKalb."

Why domestic violence victims can’t ‘just leave’

Brady says one of the biggest misconceptions about domestic violence is that it is easy to leave and escape the abuse.

Leaving is actually the hardest thing to do, partly because it is the most dangerous time for the victim. Brady says this is because when a victim leaves, the abuser loses control over them.

Domestic violence is not about anger management issues, Brady explains, as some people may commonly believe.

Instead, domestic violence is about the batterer having power and control over their victim.

Brady says that domestic violence is very controlled and methodical conduct done to exert control over the victim.
