Gov. Ron DeSantis allows eviction and foreclosure moratorium to expire

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday allowed the state’s stay-on-eviction order to expire.

The order was first signed in April and was intended to suspend evictions and foreclosures against those economically-impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, however, only COVID-19 impacted renters are protected through a CDC stay-on-eviction order directd by the Trump administration.

The CDC’s order, notably, does not protect homeowners from foreclosure.

“Today, Governor DeSantis permitted Executive Order 20-211 to expire,” the order says. “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently enacted a nationwide residential evictions Order that provides federal eviction relief to persons who submit a valid declaration to their landlord regarding their inability to pay rent.”

Biden launches digital ad blitz after nasty debate

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign is rolling out a digital ad onslaught Wednesday morning after Tuesday night’s acrimonious debate with President Trump, which was preceded by Trump's own advertising blitz.

The former vice president’s ad buy included purchasing space on YouTube’s homepage — one of the most expensive digital battlegrounds and one that Trump took over on Tuesday. The Biden campaign also bought ad space on the homepages of AOL, Yahoo!, CNN, Fox News, Pandora, Univision, Reddit, The Daily Mail, CBS Sports and more.

The Biden campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding how much money went into the digital ad buy, which was first reported by Politico.

The ads attack Trump over his debate performance and hype up what the campaign says is Biden’s ability to tackle pressing issues, including the coronavirus pandemic and propping up a flagging economy.

Biden campaign hits new weekly spending highs across battleground states

WASHINGTON — Former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign has long had the TV and radio spending advantage over President Trump. But while Trump has increased his spending in a handful of key states, Biden's campaign is hitting new, weekly spending highs across the map.

The Biden campaign spent more in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin during the week spanning Sept. 22-28 than it had in those states in any previous week, according to Advertising Analytics data analyzed by NBC News.

Some of those increases were dramatic — Biden went from spending $3.3 million in Arizona the week of Sept. 15 to $5.5 million the week of Sept. 22, from $651 to $600,000 in Iowa, and from $5.8 million to $7.8 million in Pennsylvania.

The Trump campaign hit new, weekly spending highs in four states during the week of Sept. 22 — Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. But even so, Team Trump still spent millions less than Biden in all but Georgia.

KS-SEN: Polls show tight Senate race between Marshall, Bollier in Kansas BY BRYAN LOWRY

The U.S. Senate race between Kansas Republican Rep. Roger Marshall and Democrat Barbara Bollier is within single digits, according to a pair of internal polls obtained by The Kansas City Star.

The surveys disagree about which candidate holds the narrow lead, but both place the contest within the margin of error.

Marshall holds a 4 percentage point lead over Democrat Barbara Bollier in the race for U.S. Senate and is underperforming with Republican voters, according to a poll paid for by the Keep Kansas Great PAC, a political action committee that supports Marshall.

Marshall leads Bollier 43 % to 39 %, in a survey of 794 likely voters conducted Sept. 15 and 16. Another 2% opted for Libertarian, while 16% were undecided.

It’s the first Republican poll released since Marshall won the hotly-contested GOP primary in August. The results appear to weaken Republican contentions that the Kansas seat became safe from flipping when Marshall won the GOP nomination over rival Kris Kobach.

The poll also asked respondents to say whether they prefer a Republican or a Democrat for U.S. Senate. Bollier, a state senator from Mission Hills, matches the generic Democrat exactly at 39 %, but Marshall’s total is 10 percentage points below the generic Republican at 53%.

“Marshall is significantly underperforming other key metrics like the generic ballot and Presidential ballot. He has significant room to grow particularly with general election Republican voters,” states the internal polling memo, obtained by The Kansas City Star.

Republicans have privately written this seat off, as GINA ORTIZ JONES has consistently been beating TONY GONZALES in polls. They have reserved $830,000 on San Antonio English broadcast that can be used for ORTIZ JONES or to boost WENDY DAVIS over GOP Rep. CHIP ROY in the Austin-to-San-Antonio seat.
