Conservative news outlet called Alabama race for Moore

Conservative news outlet One America News Network (OANN) appears to have erroneously called Tuesday night's Senate race in Alabama for Roy Moore (R), who lost the special election to Doug Jones (D) by more than 20,000 votes.

A clip of the news network's broadcast obtained by The Wrap shows OANN airing a graphic declaring Moore the victor while an off-camera announcer says that the network is calling the race based on "unofficial polling."

“We have some breaking news for you that we want to announce. Our unofficial polling shows Senate candidate Roy Moore sweeping the election right now in Alabama by a large margin,” the host says in the video.

The announcer goes on to say that the network's CEO Robert Herring congratulates Moore on running a "fine campaign."

Jones to Moore: Its time to move on

Sen.-elect Doug Jones (D-Ala.) said early Thursday that his Republican opponent, Roy Moore, would “do well” to concede the election and “move on.”

“I understand the frustration a little bit. It is a close race, but I’d say ‘Look, it’s time to move on,’” Jones told NBC’s “Today” when asked what he would tell Moore, whose campaign was plagued by accusations of sexual misconduct.

“Every race is tough. It’s bitter sometimes. I think this one was one that the people of Alabama have now spoken a little bit and they decide to heal," he added.

"And our campaign has been about that.”

Moore has refused to concede the special election, telling supporters in a video late Wednesday that he would would wait for the Alabama secretary of State to verify the vote.

Election 2018: What will be the "surprise" of nect year's election.

Can you think of a statewide, Congressional or local race that no one is talking about but could be surprisingly competitive by Election Day? My list includes MA-GOV, OK-GOV and UT-SEN.

Once Unthinkable, Senate Looks Like a Tossup in 2018

At this time last year, the Democratic path to Senate control seemed impossible: Hold all of the Democratic seats, flip Arizona and Nevada, then hope for a miracle.

The Democrats got the political version of a miracle on Tuesday. Doug Jones’s victory in Alabama means Democrats have accomplished the most difficult item on their checklist in pursuit of the Senate. A Democratic path is now obvious, and the race for control is basically a tossup, perhaps with a Republican advantage.

It is hard to overstate how surprising this would have seemed a year ago. Democrats needed three states to flip control of the Senate, but they entered the cycle defending 25 seats (two of them independents) to the G.O.P.’s eight. Of those Democratic seats, a staggering 10 of them were in states that chose Donald J. Trump for president, including five that he carried by at least 18 percentage points.

Only one Republican, Dean Heller, represented a state (Nevada) won by Hillary Clinton. Jeff Flake’s seat in Arizona was also plausibly competitive after Mr. Trump’s tepid 3.5-point win in the state, but it was hard to find the third Democratic seat. Perhaps the next best Democratic opportunity was against Ted Cruz in Texas — a long shot at best.

Woman says Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager

Tatiana Maxwell said she was working as an intern at a Cheyenne law firm in 1982 when a young lawyer at the firm, Ed Murray, wrestled her to the office floor and ejaculated on her stomach.

Murray, now Wyoming’s secretary of state, denies the allegations. Murray is considering whether to run for governor and is widely viewed as one of the leading Republican candidates, should he decide to enter the race.

Maxwell detailed the alleged assault in a social media post earlier this week and confirmed the events in a Thursday phone interview with the Star-Tribune.

“This is not a comfortable thing to talk about,” Maxwell said. “It hasn't been a comfortable thing for 35 years, but it's the right thing to do.”

Murray issued a statement to the media Thursday stating that he was “shocked and appalled” to read Maxwell’s social media post. The statement said that Murray was an advocate for women.

Paul Ryan 'soul searching,' possible he could leave Congress after 2018 elections

(CNN)House Speaker Paul Ryan has had soul searching conversations about his future with friends, some of his close friends tell CNN.

Those people close to Ryan told CNN they believe it is possible that he could leave Congress after the 2018 midterm elections, if he can achieve his goal of passing GOP backed overhaul of the US tax system. Some say his departure could possibly happen even sooner. Some friends indicate that Ryan may be suffering from a bout of "Trump-haustion," but others believe there is serious contemplation of leaving Congress in 2018.

According to people close to Ryan, the idea that he would resign immediately after tax reform, because it's all he's ever wanted, is not accurate. Ryan particularly dislikes the toll the job takes on his family, according to multiple sources.

Politico published a report Thursday attributed to unidentified sources that Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican, has made clear to those around him that he "would like to serve through Election Day 2018 and retire ahead of the next Congress."

Ryan Reynolds Teases Deadpool is Already In Trouble At Disney

The Merc with a mouth didn't wait too long before making an impression on his new bosses, though it wasn't exactly a great one. Ryan Reynolds shared a photo of that first impression, and it seems Deadpool managed to get himself arrested at Disney World. The image shows a Big Bossman lookalike ushering Deadpool out of the magical Disney kingdom with the caption "Apparently you can’t actually blow the Matterhorn."

Deadpool will eventually adjust to the new ownership, but it remains to be seen what Disney ultimately does with the growing Rated-R superhero division that 20th Century Fox was growing. Deadpool, Logan, the Deadpool sequel, and the upcoming X-Force were all being geared toward more adult takes, and even something like New Mutants isn't really in the same vein as say Ant-Man, Avengers, or Doctor Strange.

More than likely Disney sees potential in having a division that is more adult in tone and will continue to put characters there that make sense, and crossing them over when it makes sense.

Even *I* had to learn a lesson about how I act around women.

I am a big man. I am 6'4" and (no, I am not going to tell you how much I weigh) with long legs and a fast step. I could just be walking to the corner grocery store and still be in a hurry. Yet I only just recently learned that my impatience could have been an unintentionally threatening signal to women. I did notice that female pedestrians would look back at me from time to time, but it was only recently that I learned that a woman walking alone does not fully know my true intentions and has to prepare herself for the possibility that I mean to do her harm. So I have been taking steps (no pun intended) to slow down a bit, or cross the street earlier if my destination requires me to do so eventually. I wish I understood this earlier and feel bad for any anxiety I might have caused in the last.
