What one week of groceries looks like around the world

http://fstoppers.com/what-a-week-of-groceries-looks-like-around-the-world

From the link:
It seems as photographers we have a fascination with photographing our food. From Henry’s series of riders to looking on instagram we cant help but documenting what we consume. Peter does a great job of exploiting this on a bigger scale. Photographer Peter Menzel started this intriguing series of one weeks of groceries from around the world.

It is interesting to see that how much food does not seem to vary too much(except Chad) but the variety of food is vastly different in each country. It is a great way to see the different culture’s influence on the products and food the consumers buy.

How do you feel about this series. Do you think it could of been differently? What Would you do differently?

Sort of an interesting social study, here! Of course, it's just a typical family, and deosn't represent everyone. Not everyone in Canada necessarily eats that much fresh food (I know, I'm Canadian, and some of my friends eat much closer to the US diet depicted), just as not everyone in the USA eats such a pre-processed diet.

JUSTICE ALITO: Gay Marriage Is 'Newer Than Cell Phones Or The Internet'

This makes me want to say a lot of things, but really, I'm speechless. From a Supreme Court Justice. You want to talk about people being out of touch with the common person. Judges who believe that the battle for gay marriage is newer than cell phones? Politicians that believe that they're so hard done by because after expenses and taxes, they only have $400k to feed their family, while the average Joe family gets by on 1/10 of that?

There's lots I want to say, but I'm struck dumb by a wave of futility. If the people holding the reins have no basic understanding of the situation beneath them, if it is -so far below their notice or concern-, what in the world are we to do? All the protest in the world isn't going to open their eyes and show them what's actually happening among the peasants.

Repost: Coupon leads Crawfordville woman to pull gun on Walmart employees

A repost from LBN, because it was locked there. Seemed to be a lively discussion, so I'll pop it in here:

Source: ABC news

Wakulla County sheriff's officials say a Crawfordville woman pulled a gun on Walmart employees after they said she couldn't use an internet coupon.

The incident happened on Friday, March 1. The woman, now identified as 61-year-old Mary Frances Alday, reportedly began verbally abusing the female employee who told her she couldn't use the coupon.

Officials say that didn't stop her -- she went to her car, pulled out a gun, and walked back into the store. She reportedly began waving it at the victim and three other employees who had joined the investigation.

Alday was later arrested during a traffic stop at East Ivan Road and Wakulla Arran Road. During the arrest process, officials say Alday refused to follow the commands of Sgt. Danny Harrell during the traffic stop.
