I gotta go to bed earlier........

it's always this time of night (morning) 1:50 a.m. EST, that I get asked to serve on a DU jury.

Then I'm up even later, waiting for the results from the jury. Sheesh, I gotta get a life.

Health Insurance question...

My Cobra coverage expires on March 31st. I contacted my insurer, as I was instructed to do, in a letter from them. I was given the information that I could convert to an individual policy effective April 1st. They informed me that I would not be asked anything about pre-existing conditions (an important thing for me). I requested that she send me information, as I did not want to make a decision over the phone. I received information on 3 plans, and then visited a satellite office of the insurer.

I worked with the agent, asked the questions that I had, and purchased the insurance. Yesterday I received the plan booklet, and I find that pre-existing conditions, diagnosed within the past 5 years are excluded from coverage. I know that not asking about pre-existing conditions has to do with the cost of coverage, but I thought that since I had group coverage (through a former employer), that pre-existing conditions would be covered.

Now the question(s), 1. Will my prescriptions for my pre-existing conditions not be covered? 2. Will all conditions I have had diagnosed or treated (spinal stenosis), (knee replacement), (diabetes), (high blood pressure), not be covered when I go to my treating physician?

Help, I'm so totally confused.

Does anyone else root or not for an NCAA team because of the politics of where the team is from or..

it's history. Right now I'm rooting for Harvard over Vanderbilt. The Florida Virginia game I will be booing both teams. Let me know if I'm alone or not.

If you could ask John Boehner any question(s) what would they be? Reason

I'm asking is, my nephew has an opportunity to meet him next week and to share a meal. My nephew hopes he does sit down with Boehner because he would love to "grill" him. I have some questions that I will forward, but DU members, tell me what's really on your minds.

Voting rights....

Okay, as we all know so many repug state legislatures have passed or have pending legislation that would mandate that every voter show a photo ID.

I take this law personal, as I work the polling precinct every primary and full election, and I know every voter that comes through the door. Many of the voters I have know for 40 years, and the state wants me to ask for photo ID. Here in Pennsylvania the legislature's pending law will take effect on the day of the Presidential election.

I'm not a lawyer, but I've been reading a bit & I wonder if the following Federal Law applies to the legislature:

2921.45 Interfering with civil rights.
(A) No public servant, under color of his office, employment, or authority, shall knowingly deprive, or conspire or attempt to deprive any person of a constitutional or statutory right.
(B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of interfering with civil rights, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Effective Date: 01-01-1974

Also according to the following Federal Law, if I followed the PA Law and denied someone the right to vote who did not have photo ID, would I be guilty of the following:

Action for Neglect to Prevent Interference with Civil Rights (42 U.S.C. § 1986)

42 U.S.C. § 1986 provides that every person who has knowledge that a wrongful act is about to be committed and having the power to prevent the commission of such wrong neglects or refuses so to do, is liable to the party injured for all damages caused by the wrongful act. The defendant in a § 1986 action need not have participated in the conspiracy or the commission of the act. The defendant, however, must have had actual knowledge of the conspiracy. Mere negligence to act on the part of the defendant will be sufficient to attach liability under § 1986.

Text enhance....Never mind, I got rid of it.

When I bring up a page, say a post, there will be a lot of words that are blue in color & when I point to it, there is an ad that is powered by text enhance. I have no idea how this got onto my computer, but I'd like to get rid of it.

Help.
