MiddleFingerMom would like to express a SPECIAL thank you to Kali -- who, without being asked...

.
.
.
... went over to his house while he was in the hospital and put up his outside Christmas lights.

Probably the last MFM Hospitalization Thread (at least for THIS incident):

.
.
.
I'm back home. YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!
It was kind of an ordeal waiting for the last doctor -- he had been expected anywhere from
about 2 PM on -- he finally showed up after 8.
.
I FEEL much much better. I'm not nearly as short-of-breath as I was when I went in. Their
juggling of my meds seems to be working.
.
I gotta gush a little bit more about the staff at the hospital. Knowing I'm in pretty bad
financial times and knowing that I had to reorganize how I would get my healthcare (did I
mention that my COBRA insurance from work reached its 18-month cutoff date on
Wednesday -- I'm now without coverage of any kind). They gave me great suggestions on
how I can still be seen by my PCP at a heavily discounted rate. Best of all immediate help
was the fact that they arranged for me to get (on my departure) one full month of ALL my
medications from their pharmacy (and then my PCP can give me extended prescriptions out
to a year when I see her on the 18th).
.
Is that unreal or not?!?!?!?!?
.
I am incapable of gushing as much as that institution and its caregivers deserve!!!
.
Thank you all for the concerns and well-wishes and vibes and humor. You MAY know how
much it means to me and how much it helps, but I bet you're underestimating yourselves.
.
.
.
Now... where'd I leave that Jack Daniel's?

I think Ptah is being ironic when he says, "I remember the good old days". For instance...

.
.
.
... I was overjoyed at the little "swimmin' pool" that our families fixed up for us.
.
Ptah... not so much.

MiddleFingerMom COOL hospital update:

.
.
.
I've been holding a few things back from you -- believe it or not, I'm NOT morbid and
like to keep these communiques as positive and light-hearted as possible.
.
But a coupla days ago, I got some really bad news. The echocardiogram (like the baby
videos) showed that my mitral valve (my previous problems have been with my aortic
valve), the one between my left atrium and left ventricle that pumps along the oxygenated
blood coming back from the lungs, was showing moderate-to-severe "regurgitation"
(kinda like backwash). It wasn't sealing well and it was allowing some blood to flow
backwards when it should have been going out to my body. This is a pretty fucked-up
status.
.
They did the Deep Throat procedure yesterday -- this gives them a MUCH clearer view
of the structures. Turns out there IS damage... but it's in the mild-to-moderate range...
and that's livable without major intervention of any sort -- sometimes for a very long
time.
.
So I was kinda privately freaked out -- but now I'm dancing inside.
.
.
They've given me a LOT of help and info and helped me figure out ways that I can
keep good care coming my way. Rather than an unfeeling system that sees patients
as numbers and charts, the people on the ground here are exceptionally caring and
thoughtful and compassionate.
.
I think I've told you before that I love this place.
.
If you remember, it's where they took Gabby for her initial care.
.
.
.
More later. They are DEFINITELY sending me home today.
.
.
.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

I am depressed. The Ignored King is dead. Long live the Ignored, um... King.

.
.
.
I believed my Ignored stats to be untouchable. MAN, was I ever proven wrong. I'll be
in my bunk.

Crying into my pillow.
