Joe Biden's accomplishments

I have some right-wing friends who are asking me what I like about Joe Biden’s accomplishments.

I wish there was a web page to capture them as they happen. The $1.9 trillion Covid bill is great- but I want to quickly reference so much more.

Do you have a quick link or web page to list Biden accomplishments?

Minimum Wage - to $15

So I’d like to hear your thought on the $15 minimum wage issue.

I know lots of folks on the other side are now screaming not to do it. (Of course, those are all the ones making $15 now, saying lower people don’t deserve to make $15).

But there is a good question- How fast, and how far should the wage be raised?

I’m not an advocate of going from $7.25 to $15 overnight, all at once. I’m more like going to $10 now, then $1 each January for five years. That way the economy. An digest the increases a little better.

But I’m also aware that many may want a different structure for how we get to $15.

I’m old enough to remember yearly changes in the minimum wage, seemingly tied to cost of living. That resulted in some higher inflation too, in the 70’s. That’s got to be kept in check too. But today’s almost zero inflation is bad fir us as well. So how do we roll out a wage increase, so that it is the right balance?

I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

FBI: Wixom Man Assaulted Capitol Cops During Insurrection Attempt

Source: WHMI

A Wixom man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting police officers and others with a hockey stick during the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

29-year-old Michael Joseph Foy of Wixom is charged with five federal crimes in U.S. District Court in Detroit including assault and obstruction of law enforcement. The FBI says said he crawled through a broken window at the Capitol after police were assaulted during the riots January 6th. Several photos and videos allegedly showed Foy carrying a hockey stick and swinging it at people, including one person lying on the ground and a law enforcement official.

Foy is the second Michigan man to be charged in the Capitol violence. The FBI says a Facebook page belonging to Foy’s father, as well as a YouTube video, helped investigators identify Foy. He’s expected to appear in court again Monday for a detention hearing. The Detroit News reports that federal prosecutors are expected to produce body camera footage of the alleged assault and request Foy remain detained.

Foy is charged with forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating or interfering with any officer of the United States; obstruction of law enforcement; aiding and abetting; knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; and obstructing, impeding or influencing any official proceeding of Congress.

Donald Trump commutes sentence of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

Source: Detroit Free Press

On his way out the White House door, Donald Trump commuted the sentence of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, freeing him 20 years early for public corruption crimes he was convicted of in 2013, according to the White House.

Trump — who like Kilpatrick left office in disgrace, impeached twice during his four-year term — included Kilpatrick on his clemency list, setting him free, when no one else would give him that chance.

(Snip)

Reached before midnight, U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider said that he hadn't heard about the commutation, but stated: "If he did give him clemency, I would have never supported that."

Schneider, who has long argued that Kilpatrick should not be released early for his crimes, added:

"My position on the disgraced former mayor has not changed. Kwame Kilpatrick has earned every day he served in federal prison for the horrible crimes he committed against the people of Detroit. Thankfully, under Michigan law, he cannot hold state or local public office for 20 years after his conviction."

The transport ministry said search and rescue efforts were under way.

This is a Boeing 737-500, an older model.

Some sources are saying radar tracking shows it descended from 10,000 to the surface in about one minute. Still trying to get better source and updated info.

Ex-Cop Held Man at Gunpoint to Search for Fraudulent Ballots That Didn't Exist, Prosecutors Say

A former Houston police captain ran an air-conditioner repair man off the road and held him at gunpoint after becoming convinced the man had masterminded a giant voter fraud scheme and was hiding 750,000 fraudulent ballots in his truck, Texas prosecutors say.

Wild fantasies about voter fraud allegedly led ex-top cop Mark Anthony Aguirre, 63, to want to conduct “surveillance” on the man, who was not named, the prosecutors say. Aguirre was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in relation to the incident, which took place in October, a few weeks before the election, according to a statement by Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

On October 19, Aguirre tailed the repairman in his SUV and rammed his vehicle into the back of his truck, prosecutors say. When the repairman got out, Aguirre allegedly pointed a handgun at him and “forced him to the ground and put his knee on the man’s back.” Prosecutors say that the repairman’s truck was full of tools and spare parts, not fraudulent ballots.

OSC Finds 'Substantial Likelihood' of Wrongdoing at Global Media Agency

The ongoing investigation centers on CEO Michael Pack’s six-month tenure.

COURTNEY BUBLÉ, http://www.govexec.com

There is a “substantial likelihood” that top leadership at the U.S. Agency for Global Media engaged in wrongdoing, according to an ongoing investigation by the independent agency that oversees civil service law.

The Office of Special Counsel made this determination on Wednesday following numerous complaints by the Government Accountability Project (a whistleblower advocacy group) about U.S. Agency for Global Media CEO Michael Pack and other top political officials. GAP said this type of finding is “notable and rare.” Pack––a former conservative filmmaker and an ally and former colleague of Steve Bannon, former Breitbart News executive and White House chief strategist–– took over about six months ago and his tenure has been marred with controversy and fears about politicization of the agency’s journalism.

“Our clients – current and former staff at [the global media agency], [Voice of America] and its sibling organizations – have reported to federal whistleblower agencies egregious and continuing acts of wrongdoing by Mr. Pack and his enablers,” said David Seide, GAP senior counsel. “It is gratifying that one of those agencies, OSC, has independently determined that there is a significant probability that our clients’ information reveals wrongdoing. It is a significant step, but far from the last one.”

Trumps rant tonight disappeared

Trump posted a 45 minute long rant tonight on his Twitter account- screaming about fraud, telling his cult followers that the news networks are all hiding the fraud- and telling lie after lie nonstop for 3/4 of an hour.

Within a short time, the video disappeared- but I can’t tell if Trump took it down, or if Twitter killed it. It was the most anti-democracy crap I’ve seen him post yet!

Now he’s posting excerpts of his rant that were captured/ clipped from Brietbart.

It’s like he’s begging his followers to overthrow democracy. Have you seen this? What the heck can be done???
