James48's JournalMinimum Wage - to $15
So Id like to hear your thought on the $15 minimum wage issue.
I know lots of folks on the other side are now screaming not to do it. (Of course, those are all the ones making $15 now, saying lower people dont deserve to make $15).
But there is a good question- How fast, and how far should the wage be raised?
Im not an advocate of going from $7.25 to $15 overnight, all at once. Im more like going to $10 now, then $1 each January for five years. That way the economy. An digest the increases a little better.
But Im also aware that many may want a different structure for how we get to $15.
Im old enough to remember yearly changes in the minimum wage, seemingly tied to cost of living. That resulted in some higher inflation too, in the 70s. Thats got to be kept in check too. But todays almost zero inflation is bad fir us as well. So how do we roll out a wage increase, so that it is the right balance?
Im eager to hear your thoughts.
FBI: Wixom Man Assaulted Capitol Cops During Insurrection Attempt
Source: WHMI
A Wixom man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting police officers and others with a hockey stick during the riots at the U.S. Capitol.
29-year-old Michael Joseph Foy of Wixom is charged with five federal crimes in U.S. District Court in Detroit including assault and obstruction of law enforcement. The FBI says said he crawled through a broken window at the Capitol after police were assaulted during the riots January 6th. Several photos and videos allegedly showed Foy carrying a hockey stick and swinging it at people, including one person lying on the ground and a law enforcement official.
Foy is the second Michigan man to be charged in the Capitol violence. The FBI says a Facebook page belonging to Foys father, as well as a YouTube video, helped investigators identify Foy. Hes expected to appear in court again Monday for a detention hearing. The Detroit News reports that federal prosecutors are expected to produce body camera footage of the alleged assault and request Foy remain detained.
Foy is charged with forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating or interfering with any officer of the United States; obstruction of law enforcement; aiding and abetting; knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; and obstructing, impeding or influencing any official proceeding of Congress.

Donald Trump commutes sentence of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
Source: Detroit Free Press
On his way out the White House door, Donald Trump commuted the sentence of ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, freeing him 20 years early for public corruption crimes he was convicted of in 2013, according to the White House.
Trump who like Kilpatrick left office in disgrace, impeached twice during his four-year term included Kilpatrick on his clemency list, setting him free, when no one else would give him that chance.

Reached before midnight, U.S. Attorney Matthew Schneider said that he hadn't heard about the commutation, but stated: "If he did give him clemency, I would have never supported that."
Schneider, who has long argued that Kilpatrick should not be released early for his crimes, added:
"My position on the disgraced former mayor has not changed. Kwame Kilpatrick has earned every day he served in federal prison for the horrible crimes he committed against the people of Detroit. Thankfully, under Michigan law, he cannot hold state or local public office for 20 years after his conviction."

This is a Boeing 737-500, an older model.
Some sources are saying radar tracking shows it descended from 10,000 to the surface in about one minute. Still trying to get better source and updated info.
