UCmeNdc's JournalThere needs to be a honest discussion with no lies about SS and Medicare
The problem is the GOP lies and distorts the real math surrounding Social Security and Medicare. Until the true numbers are revealed along with exposure of any fraudulent lying about the actual math a real discussion that makes sense cannot ensue. People have to get mad and make the politicians accountable for their statements and actions.
GOP Rep freaks out when confronted with proof of ACA success
Amazingly this exchange took place on CNN where Steve Beshear Governor of Kentucky explained that for states who choose to implement their own exchanges - as was intended by the Affordable Care Act - there "Glitches" have been few and far between.
Later the CNN Hosts talks to Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC), to get their usual "other side" ot the "both sides" view - only to have her attempt to completely contradict and dismiss everything that Gov. Beshear had just said.
Only something interesting happened, the CNN Host wasn't having it.

Dick Durbin: Top House GOP Leader Told Obama 'I Cannot Even Stand To Look At You'
Durbin made the charge in a Facebook post Sunday.
"Many Republicans searching for something to say in defense of the disastrous shutdown strategy will say President Obama just doesn't try hard enough to communicate with Republicans," he wrote. "What are the chances of an honest conversation with someone who has just said something so disrespectful?"

Obamacare truthers: Woman faked faint at Obama event today
A young woman nearly fainted at President Obamas press event this morning at the White House to discuss the problems with the Obamacare exchange Web site, and to talk about some of the people who have already been helped by the Affordable Care Act exchanges.
But the rightwing is outraged. They calling the woman a plant, and claim her fainting spell was planned in advance.

What kind of sick, deluded person would fake a story in order to trick the American people about the Affordable Care Act?
Oh yeah, Sean Hannity did.
Martha Raddatz Badgers Nancy Pelosi About Being Mean to Republicans
This Week guest host Martha Raddatz this Sunday, but she decided it was her job to literally badger House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi about why she was being too mean to her Republican counterparts in the House when they decided to shut down the government and hold the full faith and credit of the United States hostage for a couple of weeks.
This seems to be a running theme among the Villagers this week. Now that the immediate crisis is over, it's damage control time for the GOP and time to badger the Democrats about the sudden need for "bipartisanship" and "civility." She reminds me of someone asking an abused spouse why they're not ready to forgive their husband right after they got out of the hospital. "He said he won't do it again. Why don't you want to forgive him and move back in together?"

This line of questioning makes the GOP seem to be a victim when they are caught being incompetent and anyone points out their lack of competence.
Santorum leading door-to-door ‘Strikeforce’ to save Cuccinelli’s campaign
Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum announced over the weekend that he would be heading to Virginia with a Strikeforce to help save Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinellis struggling campaign.
In a tweets on Friday and Saturday, Santorum asked followers to join the so-called Strikeforce being organized by his Patriot Voices political action committee.
According to a fundraising email obtained by Right Wing Watch, Santorum promises that his Strikeforce will go door-to-door and hold sign waves during the weekend of November 1-3 to help get Republican voters to the polls!
Ken Cuccinelli, an unapologetic conservative, is running against liberal, Clinton-insider Terry McAuliffe, Santorum wrote. The polls show McAuliffe leading, but Ken can pull off a victory with our help.

Democrats Have A Shot At Taking Back The House As Republican Popularity Continues To Drop: Poll
The results of the latest survey show that incumbent Republicans in 15 of the 25 districts polled trail generic Democratic candidates. When combined with the results of the previous surveys, the polls show that generic Democratic candidates lead in 37 of 61 GOP-held districts.

Why Democrats Might Cave On Social Security Cuts
Also speaking on "Fox News Sunday," Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) explicitly offered up trading some of the short-term cuts mandated by the Budget Control Act, known as the sequester, for long-term Social Security and Medicare cuts. He argued that Republicans had the tactical advantage on such an exchange.

"Social Security is gonna run out of money in 20 years," Durbin (D)-IL said. "The Baby Boom generation is gonna blow away our future. We don't wanna see that happen."
Snip
Social Security will not run out of money in 20 years. The program currently enjoys a surplus of more than $2 trillion. Social Security will, however, be unable to pay all benefits at current levels if nothing is changed. If a 25 percent benefit cut were implemented in 20 years, the program would be solvent into the 2080s.

Increase the Social Security payroll cap and the program will be in the black forever.
Fiscal Crisis Sounds the Charge in G.O.P.’s ‘Civil War’
After the budget standoff ended in crushing defeat last week and the political damage reports began to pile up for Republicans, one longtime party leader after another stepped forward to chastise their less seasoned, Tea Party-inspired colleagues who drove the losing strategy.
snip.........
Around the same time, roughly a thousand miles away in Mississippi, a 42-year-old Republican state senator, Chris McDaniel, was announcing his bid to take the seat held by one of those adults Senator Thad Cochran, 75, a six-term incumbent and the very picture of the Republican old guard, whose vote to end the standoff Mr. McDaniel called more of a surrender than a compromise.
Insurgent conservative groups like the Senate Conservatives Fund, the Madison Project and the Club for Growth immediately announced their support for Mr. McDaniel, the chairman of the Mississippi State Senates Conservative Coalition and a former Christian-radio host, providing an early glimpse of what the next three years are likely to hold for the Republican Party.

What the Tea Party people think
Listen, pal. Let me explain something to you. What the Tea Party has
done is spawned some of the great Americans who are speaking truth to
the masses. People like Sarah Palin. Go read her Facebook updates and
try to tell me with a straight face that she isn't winning hearts and
minds. She has millions of followers who look to her to articulate a
vision and provide clarity to a movement. This movement is going
places. Once we clear out the driftwood in the House and bring in more
people who share this vision, the old, dead, RINO GOP guard will be
gone. It may take time, but the winning of elections is coming. Mark my words

Kentucky can go to hell in a handbasket. The people there are flocking to the ACA. We should bring to this fight the discipline of the union workers who hold firm on their strikes and suffer on principle. There can be no worse patriotic move right now than to sign up for Obamacare just to save a few hundred bucks a month. It will end up costing America much more than that.
