Chuck Todd says he is not suppose to report the facts to the public
Chuck Todd: Pointing out Republican lies isn't his job
On Morning Joe," Todd made the following remark about Americans perceptions about Obamacare:
"But more importantly, [Americans would repeat] stuff that Republicans have successfully messaged against [Obamacare.] They don't repeat the other stuff because they haven't even heard the Democratic message. What I always love is people say, 'Well, it's you folks' fault in the media.' No, it's the President of the United States' fault for not selling it."
Chuck Todd seems to think that reporting the news is nothing more than Democrat said X, Republican said Y.
The news media is supposed to separate truth from spin and report the facts to the American people.
Chuck Todd seems to think if someone tells him a lie he must report it as truth and let the listener sort the truth out for themselves.

Elizabeth Warren Probes Education, Treasury Departments Over Sallie Mae
The Education and Treasury departments face fresh scrutiny over their apparent inability to hold student lender Sallie Mae accountable, despite numerous alleged past violations of federal rules and government contracts.
The congressional probe, outlined in a Thursday letter sent to the agencies by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), comes as Sallie Mae, the nations largest student loan company and the biggest recipient of federal contracts from the Education Department, itself contends with numerous investigations from federal banking regulators, the Department of Justice and Education Department over its student loan practices.

Ted Cruz Infuriates House GOP By Conceding Defeat On Obamacare Repeal
House Republicans are fuming at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for conceding that the party's efforts to repeal Obamacare aren't going anywhere in the Senate -- and leaving the House to keep fighting over it anyway.

CA Legislature Approves Dangerous Bill to End All Federal Testing of State E-Voting Systems
A new bill that would grant unprecedented and unchecked powers to the California Sec. of State --- including those that could allow him or her to approve new e-voting systems for use in actual elections with no testing at all --- was approved late last week by the state legislature along partisan lines. It is now on its way to Gov. Jerry Brown (D) for his signature or his veto.
he Governor should veto SB 360, a sweeping, dangerous, ill-conceived and dishonestly presented piece of legislation, passed with little debate in public or in either chamber of the state legislature.
Sponsored by 2014 Sec. of State candidate, measure grants unprecedented power to Sec. of State to approve new e-voting systems for use in real elections, even with no testing at all

Father tells 6-year-old with 3 years of gun training to lie after shooting sister in face
According to the Jackson Country Chronicle, authorities in Jackson said this week that 48-year-old father Fred B. Maphis had told his son to say that the shotgun had accidentally gone off when he dropped it. But the son later admitted that the father instructed him to lie because he had pointed the gun at the girl and pulled the trigger.
A truly unique father. A man with a moral compass........... Satire!

Fox News host: new Miss America, Nina Davuluri, doesn’t ‘represent American values’
Too ethnic?
It should go without saying that Davuluri, a Syracuse native of Indian descent, is neither Muslim nor an Arab. But according to Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes, the American-born Davuluri doesnt represent American values, unlike the blonde-haired, blue-eyed contestant from Kansas, Theresa Vail.
Well they just picked a Muslim for Miss America. That mustve made Obama happy. Maybe he had a vote, said one user.

The Old Extreme GOP vs. the New Extreme GOP: Whoever Wins, We Lose
They're back - and they're more extreme than ever. GOP House leaders John Boehner and Eric Cantor are still pushing economic ideas disproved a century ago, peddling deep spending cuts that would inflict more misery on the already-beleaguered majority. But that's not enough for the even more extreme right, for the politicians named Cruz and Paul and Lee, for the groups with names like "FreedomWorks" and "Club for Growth," and for the moneyed interests who fund them all.
The new Republican right is a tangled nest of snakes. Legislators and observers reach into it at their own risk.
However beyond the pale these new forces may seem, remember: The fact that their enemies are extreme doesn't mean that Boehner and Cantor aren't.
Hostage of the Week
Boehner and Cantor are once again preparing to use procedural gimmicks to hold the US government hostage to their pro-billionaire, pro-corporate agenda.

Why Are We Just Finding Out About The Koch Bank?
Back in 2011, Charles Koch held his annual meeting with donors to strategize for the 2012 elections. You might recall the audio recording we published from that meeting where he compared President Obama to Saddam Hussein, and congratulated the members in the room who had donated a million dollars or more to his efforts to buy the United States government.
In a pre-emptive move, the president of Freedom Partners, a trade association organized under section 501(c)(6) in a similar fashion to the US Chamber of Commerce, has released their IRS disclosure filing to Politico in advance of it becoming public.
The 38-page IRS filing amounts to the Rosetta Stone of the vast web of conservative groups some prominent, some obscure that spend time, money and resources to influence public debate, especially over Obamacare.
The group has about 200 donors, each paying at least $100,000 in annual dues. It raised $256 million in the year after its creation in November 2011, the document shows. And it made grants of $236 million meaning a totally unknown group was the largest sugar daddy for conservative groups in the last election, second in total spending only to Karl Roves American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, which together spent about $300 million.

Elizabeth Warren: 'I Don't Understand The Logic' Of Congress Not Acting On 'Too Big To Fail'
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) spoke on the five-year anniversary of the financial crisis, saying Congress should act to end "too big to fail" financial institutions.
"There are many who say, sure, 'too big to fail' isn't over yet, but Congress should wait to act further because the agencies still have to issue a bunch of Dodd-Frank's required rules,'" Warren said, according to her prepared remarks. "True, there are rules left to be written, but thats because the agencies have missed more than 60 percent of Dodd-Franks rulemaking deadlines."
Warren touted the new Glass-Steagall Act as a potential solution, and said she doesn't understand "the logic" in Congress waiting to step in and stop unfair advantages to large banks over their smaller peers.
"I don't understand the logic," she said. "Since when does Congress set deadlines, watch regulators miss most of them, and then take that failure as a reason not to act?
