Source: Euronews
After a search thats taken almost 40 years, Chicha Mariani has at last been reunited with her granddaughter, Clara. Clara was one of Argentinas Stolen babies children snatched by the military dictatorship that ruled the country from 1976 to 1983.
Chicha founded the Grandmothers of May Square in 1977 to held find those missing children. She also kept attention on Claras case through a series of open letters. They tried to convince me that you were killed along with your mother, but I knew you were alive, she wrote in one letter last March.
Babies born in captivity to political prisoners or, like Clara, orphaned by assassinations were given to families sympathetic to the regime.
Clara is the 120th child to be identified. An estimated 400 other children are still missing. And their grandmothers many now in their 80s and 90s are still searching.

Hackers step up cyberattacks in Turkey, hit banks
Source: Reuters via Al Arabiya
Turkish banks reported sporadic disruption to credit card transactions on Friday as hackers stepped up a two-week barrage of cyberattacks, believed to be the worst the country has seen.
Local media have suggested that the bombardment of public and financial websites could be coming from Russia, after a sharp worsening of tensions between Moscow and Ankara, or staged by hacking group Anonymous. But no clear evidence has emerged, and authorities have avoided pointing the finger.
Officials at several Turkish banks including Isbank, Garanti and state lender Ziraat Bank confirmed the attacks, saying they had caused intermittent disruption. Bank shares were unmoved by the news.
The attacks are serious, said Onur Oz, a spokesman for Internet provider Turk Telekom. But the target is not Turk Telekom. Instead, banks and public institutions are under heavy attack, he said.

Advice needed re buying a BASIC phone
I want a phone that allows me to call people that live too far away to visit.
I don't need a phone that makes coffee.
ie, I don't need any bells and whistles.
I wanted a corded phone, bec. they are less harmful to the brain than cordless.
(landline)
Last time I needed a phone it took a long time but I found an ATT model which suited me.
ok, it was cheap - I think $25.oo,
but the danged thing just gave out, I had it a little over a year.
so no more AT&T.
(The previous AT&T phone I had had lasted 20 years, but it was made in the era when things actually lasted).
I always check consumer reports for products, I will do that.
I wonder if they even rate the kind of phone I want, since no one much uses them any more.
any ideas much appreciated what brand, where to look ---
{I know I am a dinosaur, so pls don't tell me to get with it. I know what I want. }
thanks.

Two New Defense Brass Join in Support for Breaking the Silence
Levin wrote in Haaretz last Friday, As someone who was a combatant and a commander, and who is currently a father of two combat paratrooper officers who have been there as witnesses I too am breaking silence.
He added that Breaking the Silence strengthens the IDF and its morality, and that silencing it is harmful to the army.
For his part, Diskin referred to the group in a Facebook posting last week. He wrote that while he opposes the activities of nongovernmental organizations and journalists who dont love their country, after reading nearly every article and report by Breaking the Silence, BTselem or the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, even if they are aggravating, even if they are often inaccurate and dont always do their work properly from a professional perspective their contribution is very important and helps us maintain the required vigilance about the most sensitive human issues.

Spain dealt a blow to two party politics on Sunday in historic elections that saw the incumbent conservatives score an uneasy win tailed by the long-established Socialists and upstart, far-left Syriza ally Podemos.
For more than 30 years, the Popular Party (PP) and Socialists had alternated power, but they now find themselves challenged by Podemos and centrist party Ciudadanos, which came fourth in the closely-fought legislative polls.
While it took the largest share of the votes, the PP lost its absolute majority in parliament by a significant margin and will now have to try and form an uneasy alliance with other parties or attempt to rule as a minority government.
"We are starting a new political era in our country," gushed Pablo Iglesias, the pony-tailed, 37-year-old Podemos leader, as supporters looked on holding purple balloons to match the colours of the party.

Women win big in Spain's national elections
"It will be interesting to see how the new group of left-wing female MPs influence womens issues, such as domestic violence, the countrys controversial abortion laws and the gender pay gap.
Podemos also made history when one of its candidates became Spain's first ever black MP. Rita Bosaho from Alicante is also the first woman to head a party's electoral list in the region and win a seat in parliament.
Bosaho, 50, was born in Equitorial Guinea - Spain's former colony in West Africa - and has lived in Spain for 30 years.
She has long worked with feminist groups in Alicante: "Feminism is a serious issue," she told Spanish daily El Diario. She has spent her career working in human rights and women's rights, according to her official Podemos profile.
