It is important to understand that medical doctors, particularly psychiatrists, are taught to view a childs behaviors through their training. That training involves a checklist of symptoms and if your child has seven or more out of twenty, for example, the doctor knows to give the child the diagnosis that fits that checklist. The treatment is usually meds. Just remember, there are many other ways to look at the situation and your doctors way is only one.
And also remember that the medical school he/she went to was likely heavily funded by pharmaceutical companies or the doctor gets lots of benefits from these drug companies and that could bias his/her thinking. Also, realize these same drug companies teach lots of teachers and school nurses and school districts about their meds for children and the symptoms to look for because they have found this increases drug sales.
I recall the story of a woman in a pro-psychiatry book whose daughter was put on meds for ADHD at age 13. Within a year, the girl attempted suicide so was put on stronger meds. After another year, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was put on stronger meds. She was still on meds in her 20s. Thank God, the mother wrote, we started treating her in time. I saw this quite differently because I have heard from so many parents and patients who were worsened by meds and were prescribed more meds as a solution. This approach has taken many people into an unnecessary hell that took years to return from.

Reporter Sarah G. Miller notes in 1 in 6 Americans Takes a Psychiatric Drug that prescriptions for mental illness keep surging. As of 2013, almost 17 percent of Americans were taking at least one psychiatric drug, up from 10 percent in 2011, according to a new study. Miller elaborates:
Antidepressants were the most common type of psychiatric drug in the survey, with 12 percent of adults reporting that they filled prescriptions for these drugs In addition, 8.3 percent of adults were prescribed drugs from a group that included sedatives, hypnotics and anti-anxiety drugs, and 1.6 percent of adults were given antipsychotics.
This increase in medications must be boosting our mental health, right? Wrong. In Is Mental Health Declining in the U.S.?, Edmund S. Higgins, professor of psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina, acknowledges the inconvenient truth that Americans mental health has, according to some measures, deteriorated.
President-elect Donald Trumps nominee for US ambassador to Israel is the head of an organization that is being sued by Palestinians for its role in the theft of their land for settlements and other Israeli war crimes.
Announcing the nomination, the Trump transition team said that David Friedman would serve from Jerusalem, Israels eternal capital signaling that the new administration intends to move the US embassy to the city from its current location in Tel Aviv.
Friedman is being described as more extreme even than the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
As the Tel Aviv newspaper Haaretz reports, Friedman has called President Barack Obama an anti-Semite and labeled supporters of the liberal Zionist lobby group J Street as kapos a term used to describe Jews who collaborated with the Nazis in the death camps.
I sent it so as to become a starred member.
Researchers from the University of Gothenburg and the University of Bournemouth have begun exploring the ruins at a village called Vlochos, around 300km (190 miles) north of Athens.
The team, which also includes researchers from the Ephorate of Antiquities of Karditsa, found the remains of towers, walls and city gates on the summit and slopes of the hill.
They hope to avoid excavation and use methods such as ground-penetrating radar instead, which will allow them to leave the site in the same condition as when they found it.
During their first two weeks of field work in September, they have discovered an ancient pottery and coins dating back to around 500 BC.
If you haven't heard of Alex Jones, his website Infowars is required reading for conspiracy theorists of all stripes, from the 911 truthers to the people who think the San Bernadino shootings and Sandy Hook killings never happened to the claim that Obama is a Muslim.
Jones' claims often are trumpeted by trump the next day, and picked up by the media, but the media rarely notes the connection.
The latest is trump's claim that barring "3 million votes by illegal immigrants for Hillary" he would have won in a "landslide".
All the main steam media point out that there is zero evidence for the claim.
but what they don't point out, is that trump's story follows a story in Alex Jones' Infowars, headlined: Report: Three Million Votes In Presidential Election Cast By Illegal Aliens,
from the article in Media Matters:
"Trump adopting a conspiracy from Jones and Infowars is not out of the ordinary. The relationship between the politician and the conspiracy theorist has flourished for months.
Trump appeared on Jones radio/internet show in December of 2015 and praised him for his amazing reputation. Trumps informal adviser, Republican dirty trickster Roger Stone, has been a regular contributor to Jones radio program for months and the two have made joint appearances at pro-Trump events.
In an October speech attacking global financial powers while using anti-Semitic tropes and dog whistles, Trump was parroting an argument that Jones has used for years.
After Jones said Trump should begin complaining the election was rigged, Trump began making similar complaints on the campaign trail.
When Trump alleged that President Obama was the founder of ISIS, he was echoing Jones, whose website once wrote that the Obama administration has been backing ISIS since the beginning.
After Trump delivered his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Jones saw so much of his rhetoric included that he bragged on his radio show that Trump was totally synced with him and his conspiratorial world view. Following Trumps victory, Jones claimed that Trump called him to thank Jones audience and promised to appear on his show in the near future.
This latest outburst shows that the two men remain in sync, and its time for the media to let the public know who is pulling the next presidents strings."
and from Mother Jones:
"Trump himself has used the site's (Alex Jones') work to bolster way-out claims, including his references to Clinton's alleged poor health and his false assertion that "thousands and thousands" of American Muslims were celebrating the 9/11 attacks in New Jersey. Trump appeared on Jones' internet-based talk show in December 2015 and told him, "Your reputation is amazing. I will not let you down." Roger Stone, a longtime Trump adviser and a conspiracy theorist who claims LBJ killed JFK, has often appeared on Infowars, and he held joint events with Jones at the Republican convention in Cleveland in July. At that convention, Jones had "special guest" credentials."
This is kinda like the So Korean Pres. and her swami girlfriend, except worse!
anyway I can reclaim them?
(being compared to the death of the Tunisian vendor which set off that uprising)
Outraged Moroccan students in the northern city of Al-Hoceima boycotted schools on Monday and took to the streets in new protests over the gruesome death of a fishmonger, who was crushed to death inside a garbage truck in the city.
Mouhcine Fikri, 31, was crushed to death in the truck on Friday, as he reportedly tried to protest against a municipal worker seizing and destroying his wares.
An image of his inert body - head and arm sticking out from under the lorry's crushing mechanism - went viral on social media, sparking protests in more than 20 cities nationwide over the weekend, including in the capital Rabat.
Footage online showed thousands of people following the yellow ambulance that carried Fikri's body through Al-Hoceima in the ethnically Berber Rif region on Sunday.
Jane Mayer (who wrote the expose of Koch bros) in The New Yorker:
Comeys decision is a striking break with the policies of the Department of Justice, according to current and former federal legal officials. Comey, who is a Republican appointee of President Obama, has a reputation for integrity and independence, but his latest action is stirring an extraordinary level of concern among legal authorities, who see it as potentially affecting the outcome of the Presidential and congressional elections.
James Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, acting independently of Attorney General Loretta Lynch, sent a letter to Congress saying that the F.B.I. had discovered e-mails that were potentially relevant to the investigation of Hillary Clintons private server. Coming less than two weeks before the Presidential election, Comeys decision to make public new evidence that may raise additional legal questions about Clinton was contrary to the views of the Attorney General, according to a well-informed Administration official. Lynch expressed her preference that Comey follow the departments longstanding practice of not commenting on ongoing investigations, and not taking any action that could influence the outcome of an election, but he said that he felt compelled to do otherwise.
