Those Who Wage This Civil War of the States

"They all know that Biden has won the election.
What they’re doing is for no purpose other than power.

The Republican Party is an organized conspiracy for the purposes of maintaining power for self interest and the self interest of its donor class...

The debate that has been about ‘do we get to participate in this great experiment’ has now become one whether we continue with this great experiment at all.

That’s why they are so radical. ...

There is no compromise with these people.
They must be driven back into the underworld of American politics. They have no place at the table.

That any political party that wishes to associate with them has to become so toxic that they have no chance of winning elections.
And it’s going to be the work of many elections.

But this odious cast of characters has to be brought to electoral submission over these next years.

At the same time, the side that believes in democracy cannot be brought to exhaustion.
We cannot be worn out in this fight...

This is all out in the open right now.
You can’t put this back in the box, what happened this month.
You know exactly who is faithless to their constitutional oaths.

And it’s not a big stretch to say this:
If you won’t acknowledge the result of this election,
if you’re pretending that Donald Trump had the election stolen from him,
on no planet are you faithful -- senator, member of congress, mr mayor, mr state legislator -- are you faithful to your oath.
You have spoiled it, you have wrecked it, you have desecrated it." Steve Schmidt

How bad this war by Republican lawyers has gotten.
Names of these Republicans should be spread far and wide.

FDA panel recommends approval of Pfizer's Covid vaccine for emergency use

In a statement after the vote, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said the company was “pleased” with the vote, “and if the FDA issues an authorization, stand at the ready to bring this vaccine to people in the U.S. in an effort to help combat this devastating pandemic.”

U.S. officials say they are prepared to distribute the vaccine within 24 hours of authorization. Initial doses will be limited as manufacturing ramps up, with officials predicting it will take months to immunize everyone in the U.S. who wants to be vaccinated.

Pfizer has said it plans to ship 50 million vaccine doses this year, enough to inoculate 25 million people. The vaccine is expected to be distributed in phases, with the most critical U.S. workers and vulnerable people getting it first. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided states with an outline that recommends prioritizing health-care workers and nursing homes first, but states can distribute the vaccine as they see fit.

U.S. officials plan to continue watching for any adverse reactions to Pfizer’s vaccine in the health-care workers and nursing home residents who receive it, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Disease, said during the agency’s meeting Thursday. Officials will use a text-messaging system, called v-safe, which is intended to provide early indications about possible adverse reactions from the vaccines...

Pfizer’s vaccine uses messenger RNA, or mRNA, technology. It’s a new approach to vaccines that uses genetic material to provoke an immune response. Late-stage clinical trial data shows the vaccine is 95% effective in preventing Covid, is safe and appears to fend off severe disease. To achieve maximum effectiveness, the vaccine requires two doses taken about three weeks apart.

Governor Cuomo Briefing December 9 2020

Day 284

The scale of vaccination will test capacity at all state and federal governments.
The federal govt procures and distributes the vaccine through the US military and private sector transport.
States set up distribution locations, based on cold storage capacity, and priorities for vaccine recipients.
The federal government allocates vaccine based on state populations.
The states prioritize recipient groups, group leaders decide what persons within the groups receive vaccination.
December 21 starts the federal government's vaccine allocations and shipping.

Data use agreements that guarantee no individual ID are important for 75% of population to reach immunity are best for the country.

Congressional funding aid decisions are crucial.
Distribution should be funded by COVID caused need, not by political pork barrel.

Shift to a Not-So-Frozen North Is Well Underway, Scientists Warn

Source: New York Times

The outsized influence of the Arctic is why the assessment, called the Arctic Report Card, has been produced annually for the past 15 years by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. More than 130 experts from 15 countries contributed to this year’s version, which was issued at the annual conference of the American Geophysical Union.

In recent years Arctic researchers have increasingly come to recognize that the region is moving from a climate that is characterized less by ice and snow and more by open water and rain.

In a study published in September, two researchers with the National Center for Atmospheric Research, in Boulder, Colo., argued that for sea ice at least, a permanent shift had already occurred. Ice extent has now declined so much, Laura Landrum and Marika M. Holland wrote, that even an extremely cold year would not result in as much ice as was typical decades ago.

Donald K. Perovich, a professor at Dartmouth College and the lead author of the chapter on sea ice in the assessment, said that 2007 was a critical year. “We had the largest drop in ice extent we’d ever seen,” he said. “While there have been these variations since, we’ve never returned to those levels before 2007.”
