Pat Robertson: Global warming is a scam because there are no SUVs on Jupiter

(His logic is inescapable)

Televangelist Pat Robertson pointed to the cold U.S. weather on Tuesday — and the fact that there were no “SUVs driving around in Jupiter” — to assert that global warming was a scam created by scientists.

“The inconvenient truth is it’s getting cold,” Robertson said, riffing off the title of Al Gore’s climate change documentary. “And some parts of America are colder than Mars! Why? We’ve got a special story today about how come we could very well be entering another little ice age.”

Later in the show, the TV preacher laughed and noted that the Russian-flagged ship Akademik Shokalskiy had been stuck in ice near Antarctica while trying to research global warming.


“There’s just one problem,” he said. “The Earth isn’t getting warmer. In fact, it’s because of the Sun. The Sun is now showing signs that we’re headed for something very, very different: global cooling.”

Gretchen Carlson mistakes atheists for Satanists

Fox News host Gretchen Carlson was raked over the online coals on Tuesday for apparently conflating atheism with Satanism, just before one of her guests did the same.

Tuesday morning, Carlson previewed a segment on the Satanist Temple’s proposed Oklahoma Statehouse statue by posting on Twitter, “Atheists unveil Satan statue for OK capitol: smiling kids with goat-faced demon!” She subsequently deleted the tweet, but not before Atheism Tweets captured it:

Later, Carlson refused to apologize for her mistake, writing, “Stop the hate tweets. I made a simple mistake. Thx. [sic] I’m not stupid or asking everyone to believe in my God. Thx.”


In the ensuing discussion, American Atheists president David Silverman argued to Carlson that the Temple had the right to put up their display.

National Review Online has up one big old honkin’ mess of a ‘story’ about how Rachel Maddow is some kind of “queen” who is nancying up MSNBC with her butch ways and also her feminine wiles which is making us all totally gender confused about what the hell is going on not only in America but also in our pants. This delightful bit of reportorial flailing in an attempt to make some kind of point is written by Eliana Johnson (who is the daughter of one of the goofy looking guys at Powerline because wingnut welfare never sleeps) and is chock-a-block full of quotes Drudge-sourced from anonymous MSNBC people in the know who are just aching to mean-girl bitch-dish on la Maddow to someone at NRO.

Conservatives stage ‘uprising’ demanding sheriffs ‘take back’ Utah from ‘homosexuals’

On Saturday, the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) organized what it called an “uprising” in Utah to protest a federal court’s decision that struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.

U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby struck down the ban, then upheld his ruling three days later, leading Utah conservatives to take extreme measures to oppose it.

The CSPOA’s “uprising” consisted of a meeting in which a standing-room only crowd of same-sex marriage opponents watched PowerPoint presentations about the federal government overstepping its authority. Organizers and speakers claim that Governor Gary Herbert has failed the people of Utah, and that it is up to the sheriff’s to “take back” the state from “the homosexuals.”


Former Graham County, Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack said that “[t]he people of Utah have rights, too, not just the homosexuals. The homosexuals are shoving their agenda down our throats.”

Armed Minnesota man burns down his own house, then blames Obama

And in this headline folks, we have the entire Conservative political strategy for the last half decade.


A Minnesota man is in custody on charges of arson after police say that he set fire to his house and then blamed President Barack Obama and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Patch reported that fire was reported coming from the Minnetonka home of 49-year-old Ronald Gary Bailey after 9 p.m. on Dec. 1.

According to court records, Bailey asked firefighters responding to the call when they would be finished putting out the blaze so that he could “start the rest of my house on fire.”


But by the time that firefighters had extinguished the fire, the home had been destroyed. Standing at the end of his driveway, Bailey explained to them: “You should know, you did this, the CIA implanted a computer in my brain and body.”
