Trump Thinks Republican Candidates Are Avoiding CPAC Because They're Afraid Of Him - Ring of Fire

The annual CPAC convention kicked off on Thursday, but the conference already looks like it is going to be a shell of its former self. Many of the top Republicans in the country - including those running for President - have decided to skip the event this year, and Donald Trump has launched a conspiracy theory as to why that is. He believes they are skipping because they know they aren't as popular as he is, but Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins offers a far more valid reason why many conservatives are sitting this one out.

The annual C P A C convention has officially kicked off, and according to all of the available reports, it's pretty much a shell of what it used to be. The audience is not quite as packed as it has been in years past, and of course, multiple high profile republicans have decided this year that it's not even worth their time. You have Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Ronna McDaniel, Marco Rubio, all have said Thanks, but no thanks. We are not coming to cpac. And of course, Donald Trump is out there with a new conspiracy theory as to why all of these people do not want to show up to cpac, and it's apparently because they're afraid of him. Here's what Trump posted on truth social. The only reason certain candidates won't be going to CPAC is because the crowds have no interest in anything. They have to say they've heard it all before and don't want to hear it again, but my speech on Saturday night is already a sold out monster, and he said he's going to quote, talk about the fact that obviously our country is going to hell and how to fix it.

Yeah, it must be annoying for Republicans to hear somebody come up on stage and just say the same thing over and over, that people have heard from that person for years on end. I, I'm sure Donald Trump of all people knows how tired audiences are of hearing the same talking points repeated over and over and over because that man has not changed his speeches one bit for the last two years. He has winded nonstop about losing the 2020 election and as a result has been losing audiences. He hasn't held a ton of rallies in the last 12 months, but the ones that he has held videos have shown people pouring out of the auditorium, usually about 15 minutes into his speech when they realize he has nothing new to say. But according to him, the other candidates are afraid to show up because they know the audience doesn't like them, even though, again, according to reports, the the audiences just aren't there.

And it's not because, I mean, the reason the candidates are not shown up is not because they're afraid of Trump or afraid of the audience. It's because CPAC, of course, has a very dark cloud over it this year with, uh, founder Matt Sch slap facing a lawsuit from a former aid who alleges that schlep groped him. So there's that, which is pretty much a big deal in Republican world, of course. But there's also the fact that you have the club for growth, or as Trump cleverly puts it, the club for no growth. They're also holding a, uh, competing rally or event, whatever the hell you want to

Call it, it this weekend. But if you do end up at cpac, don't worry. You're still of course, gonna see Donald Trump and you're gonna hear from Republican heavyweights like, uh, Mike Lindell, founder of MyPillow. But if that's not your speed, don't worry. You can still hear from Kerry Lake who lost the Arizona gubernatorial election. Um, so yeah, that, that sounds like a real banger this weekend, right? Of course.

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales defiant as he faces censure for breaking with Republican Party

The censure resolution cites Gonzales’ rejection of a border security proposal by fellow Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy, and his support of a bill for same-sex marriage protections and a bipartisan gun safety law.

BY PATRICK SVITEK, Texas Tribune

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-San Antonio, is digging in as he faces a potential censure by the Republican Party of Texas over his recent positions breaking with the party.

The party’s executive committee is set to hold a quarterly meeting Saturday where it will consider a censure resolution that cites a few of the notable ways in which Gonzales has split from his party in recent months. Those include his rejection of a border security proposal by his fellow Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy, and his support of a bill defending same-sex marriage protections and a bipartisan gun law that passed in response to the Uvalde school shooting in his district.

“What censure?” Gonzales said when asked about it by reporters Thursday in San Antonio. “Has a censure taken place? I think they’re gonna vote on it Saturday, and we’ll see how that goes.”

Gonzales added — as he has before — that he has no regrets about supporting the gun safety law, which expanded background checks, among other things. He was the only House Republican from Texas to support the measure — and one of only 14 nationwide.

Moldovia in peril - Eastern Express - TVP World

Tensions between Russia and Moldova have escalated in recent months, with possible Russian aggression on the horizon. Two scenarios are being considered: direct aggression from the Black Sea or from Transnistria, or a hybrid option involving the overthrow of the Moldovan government through demonstrations aided by Russian saboteurs. TVP World prepared a report and invited Ioana Constantin-Bercean from the University of Bucharest’s Institute of Political Science and International Relations to shed more light on the issue.
