Would it be bad for America if the GOP became irrelevant?

I want to know everybody's opinion on whether we would be better off or not if that party shrinks. Most politicos know that so far, current demographic trends are looking hostile for the Republican Party's chances of winning future elections. Combine that with their current platform, and they are at risk of becoming a minor party in the future. I have heard a number of pundits and a few DUers make the argument that it would be unhealthy for our democracy if one of the 2 major parties dies off. But my question to them is regarding precisely why that would be bad for the country. The GOP has been responsible for making it more inconvenient for low-income people to vote. They impeded the president's jobs plan which would've created millions of jobs. And they have an agenda that includes opposing women's right to choose, secularism, marriage equality, taxing top earners at a fair amount, socialized health care, unions, Affirmative Action, and funding for public education.
What do Republicans have to offer the country besides saying "no" to everything?

Here's What I Don't Understand About Climate Change Deniers

These people who are so adamant in their belief that it doesn't exist...my question to them is even if it doesn't exist, shouldn't we be doing more to preserve our planet anyway? I mean who wants to live in a place where the air is filthy, and the water is trashy and polluted? If all the scientists and experts are wrong about climate change, then it's no big deal. But if the skeptics are wrong, it'll eventually be the end of the human race.

Laura Ingraham Points to Southern Strategy For Reforming GOP

More: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/11/11/ingraham-points-to-southern-strategy-for-reforming-republican-party/

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham on Sunday pointed to the roots of Southern strategy of the late 1960s — which appealed to racism in the South — as an example of how the Republican Party should reform itself after President Barack Obama won re-election.

“If the reaction to the election is let’s dig into our core principles and try to remake them, I think the GOP will lose even more seats in 2014,” Ingraham told Fox News host Chris Wallace. “If it becomes a bidding war with Republicans in either this group or that group — whether it’s Latinos or women — we’re going to give you more stuff or we’re going to do amnesty plus… it’s not going to work.”

From Yahoo Answers: "If Republicans Hate Taxes So Much Why Don't They Move To Somalia?"

More: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ah7k.UehtV53EFblEuWhVrMjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20110131224154AA4FhRn

OP: "A perfect example of a nation that functions well without taxes, Republicans wouldn't have to complain about welfare or paying for education there! It's not communist, fascist, or socialist like Canada or the UK. You can also own as much guns as you want!"

Top Answer: "The benefit of no taxes and freedom to carry guns isn't greater than the cost of submitting to a warlord + the chance of getting randomly shot and killed. Therefore, republicans don't move to Somalia."

Other answers:

Answer 1: "What nonsense. Republicans don't hate taxes, they hate unfair taxes. They also hate big government that wants to take one working Americans money to give it to someone else often either illegal aliens, non working lazy Americans, political supporters, or foreign countries.
Seriously why should a working Americans money go to paying for someone else's children who refuses to work and better themselves and expect someone else to pick up the tab? Why should a working Americans taxes go for providing a lazy sob with free healthcare and housing? Why should a working Americans taxes go for paying for bigger government that wants to fund everyone else including foreign countries?
Republicans have never had a problem however with taxes paying for education of ANY American Citizen. However they do have a problem paying for the education of NON American Citizens who are citizens of foreign countries and here illegals... I.E. illegal aliens.
So now I ask you why are liberals such racist pricks who hate America and Working Americans?"

Answer 2: "Wow. I'm not sure where to begin with you.
Well, okay, I'll pretend this is actual question and not a rant.
First learn the differences between Conservatives and Republicans from a source that is not belligerent to conservatives beliefs.
Second, recognize Somalia is probably not a positive example for anything at all.
Most Sane Americans do Not have a problem with things that our tax dollars go to that have a recognizable return (i.e. roadways, highways, public schools, law enforcement officials etc.) and is therefore not Laissez Faire wasteful socialism."

Answer 3: "somalian pirates make over $200 million an year. No education, no taxes, no resume, no consequences whatsoever. But it still requires guts to hijack a ship on the ocean. Hijacking the ship while on a small boat in the middle of ocean does need nerves of steel though".

I see the past 2 days, there's been talk about the GOP having to change their message

in order to attract minorities. On PoliticsNation today, Meghan McCain said that her party needs to do a better job "messaging" and to find a better messenger in order to attract a wider share of the electorate. Now I'm here wondering precisely how they plan to do that. For instance, will they try to use the marriage equality issue again in order to drive a wedge between gays and minorities to get more of us to support politicians who favor vulture capitalism, or will they finally see how antithetical much of their fiscal policies have been to our interests and move to the left?
What are everyone else's thoughts on this?

I'm So Happy Right Now

I'm crying. After all the obstruction, negative attacks, and deception from the GOP, the president was able to pull through! Congrats to him!

Karl Rove Begins To Make Excuses For Possible Romney Loss

More: http://www.eclectablog.com/2012/11/karl-rove-begins-to-give-his-excuses-for-wasting-300-million-of-other-peoples-money.html

In 2000, Karl Rove predicted George W. Bush would win 320 electoral votes. Bush won 271–if you count Florida.

In 2006, he said he had “THE math” that showed the GOP would keep the House of Representatives. They lost 30 seats and the House.

In 2008, when he wasn’t closely involved in the McCain campaign, he came out with a map just before the election that pretty much predicted the president’s landslide.
