"Twitter Mocks Trump’s Affinity For Phrase 'Many People Are Saying'"

More: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/twitter-mocks-trump-scientist-claim-many-people-are-saying

Donald Trump’s latest unsubstantiated allegation against Hillary Clinton is that her use of a private email server as secretary of state resulted in the death of an Iranian scientist who provided intel to the U.S. As Twitter users were quick to point out, the tweeted accusation came couched in one of the GOP nominee’s favorite phrases: “Many people are saying.”

Trump frequently relies on this vague construction both to promote his own products and to air far-fetched conspiracies while distancing himself from the source. He claimed in 2013 that “many people have claimed” his cologne “Success” was “the best scent,” and in early 2015 that “so many people” have told him he should replace Chuck Todd as the host of NBC’s “Meet the Press.” In May, he used the wording to suggest that there was something “very fishy” about the suicide of former Clinton administration counsel Vince Foster.

Like his other frequently-used phrase “There’s something going on,” it suggests an ominous association between two subjects but isn’t clearly sourced enough to be discounted for lack of evidence.

"A's trade Josh Reddick, Rich Hill to the Dodgers"

More: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/192999766/dodgers-acquire-josh-reddick-rich-hill/

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers acquired starting pitcher Rich Hill and outfielder Josh Reddick from Oakland on Monday for a package of young pitchers Grant Holmes, Frankie Montas and Jharel Cotton, ranked fifth, eighth and 13th in the Dodgers' system by MLBPipeline.com, according to a baseball source.

The clubs have not confirmed the deal.

Hill, currently on the disabled list with a blister problem, eventually should bring a needed reinforcement to a decimated rotation that currently has only three healthy starters -- Scott Kazmir, Kenta Maeda and Brandon McCarthy. Bud Norris was forced from Sunday's start after two batters with lat pain and his status is uncertain.

Reddick, meanwhile, provides coverage for the Dodgers to continue their attempt to move Yasiel Puig, who has been rumored in numerous deals, the latest being to the White Sox for James Shields.

I guess this is a decent trade from the A's POV, but it hurts to see them keep trading away the team's top performers and fan favorites for "prospects" who may never even make it to the major league team. I'm going to miss Reddick's pies after walk-off wins.

"Richard Sherman: Make billionaires pay for their own stadiums"

More: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/06/09/richard-sherman-make-billionaires-pay-for-their-own-stadiums/?utm_network=facebook&utm_post=5874064&utm_source=FB+-+SNF+on+NBC&utm_tags=srm%5Bfootball%5D

A major part of the NFL’s business model is getting taxpayers to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on new stadiums. One of the NFL’s best players thinks it’s time for that practice to stop.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman said on 710 ESPN in Seattle that if he had his way, the billionaires who own NFL teams would foot the bill for the stadiums.

“I’d stop spending billions of taxpayer dollars on stadiums . . . maybe make the billionaires who actually benefit from the stadiums pay for them. That kind of seems like a system that would work for me,” Sherman said, via MyNorthwest.com.

It’s an argument that citizens and public officials in many NFL cities agree with, and yet the NFL has managed to find many municipalities willing to finance its stadiums. And more cities, most recently Las Vegas, are saying they’re open to giving taxpayer funds to the NFL. As long as those cities keep offering their money, the NFL will keep accepting.

"People are bidding on a 'bag of air' from Kobe Bryant's last game"

More: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25557601/people-are-bidding-on-a-bag-of-air-from-kobe-bryants-last-game?linkId=23532220

Some people are stupid. And I don't mean "hit reply all on that joke about your boss to the entire office" stupid. I mean genuinely, "what could you possibly be thinking" stupid. As such, people will try and profit off of said stupidity, and often times, these situations involve sports. Such is the case with this:

[IMG][/IMG]

That's right, someone is selling a bag of air from Kobe Bryant's last game.

A bag. Of air.

As if you're going to be able to verify that. Or that someone would actually be impressed by a bag of air sitting on a display. Or that you're not going to accidentally puncture that bag when you move and then it just escapes and joins the rest of the air or slowly leaks out over time. Or as if it wasn't a bag. Of air.

"State’s primary a losing proposition to some Bay Area Republicans"

For while the Bay Area is the nation’s progressive soul, it is also home to some of the country’s most prominent establishment conservatives, including former Secretaries of State George Shultz and Condoleezza Rice (who declined to comment), as well as deep-pocketed donors Silicon Valley entrepreneur Floyd Kvamme, who, along with wife Jean, has contributed $200,00 to a pro-John Kasich super PAC, and venture capitalist Jillian Manus.

Cathie Bennett Warner says she will consider voting for a Democrat if Trump is the GOP’s nominee, but “if it’s Bernie Sanders, I’ll probably leave the country.”

Many of them are nauseated by Trump’s divisive comments on immigrants, Muslims and women, and regret the establishment-splintering chaos the Republican primary has produced as the original field of 17 candidates has dwindled to three.

They use such words as “miserable,” “sickened,” “ashamed.” And most alarming for Republicans candidates everywhere, they’re not opening their checkbooks.

By this point in the election season, “I would have been knee deep in one of the campaigns,” said Manus, who campaigned for GOP gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But “I haven’t given one cent to a candidate. Actually that’s not true. I gave to Kamala Harris,” a Democrat running for U.S. Senate.

"Mark Zuckerberg Asks Employees to Stop Crossing Out ‘Black Lives Matters’ on Office Walls"

More: http://www.theroot.com/blogs/the_grapevine/2016/02/facebook_ceo_mark_zuckerberg_asks_employees_to_stop_crossing_out_black_lives.html

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is upset with his employees at Facebook’s Menlo Park, Calif., campus. It seems as though there’s a faction of Facebook employees who don’t believe that black lives matter, and they have been expressing their displeasure by crossing out anything regarding Black Lives Matter on the office walls.

The walls’ purpose at Facebook has always been to serve as an outlet for employees to voice their opinions and express themselves. But Zuckerberg is quite displeased with the actions of some of the employees, and said so on an internal memo:
