She has the experience to screw US over for the Moneyed Interests sponsoring her & the media

will spin it as pragmatism because the 5 corporations monopolizing it (thanks Bill) are in on the con, being among the Moneyed Interests sponsoring her.

Bye-bye saving social security from cuts & privatization.(those $peeches were payoff for something big. I believe this is it.)

Status quo or ramped up policies on privatization of schools, water, roadways, public infrastructure crumbling, off-shoring jobs, high insurance costs, high healthcare costs, banks deregulated & risking our economy, continual cutting of food stamp program, corporations not paying taxes, minimum wage not a living wage, unregulated fracking, unregulated off-shore drilling, and unauthorized war in the ME to benefit MNCs. WWIII doesn't look so far off with a war-monger in office.

& Internet freedom? Well, we're getting a tiny taste right now of what will happen if she's in charge..

Day 1 seems scary. She'll be ready, and we'll be screwed.

Just no Trump humping, for now.

But we realize loving up a corrupt, powerful, war-loving, bought & paid for republican DINO is the most acceptable way to go. The party itself is becoming DINO, so its confusing. But purple is the new black, so have fun justifying your new conservative values to yourself. Those of us who can't do that will be posting less & less here, I imagine.

Bill Clinton tried to cut & privatize Social Security too.

That's the problem.

The Clintons are republican, no matter what they call themselves. You're being conned.

Money, Power and Oil. Exposing the Libyan Agenda: A Closer Look at Hillary’s Emails

Money, Power and Oil. Exposing the Libyan Agenda: A Closer Look at Hillary’s Emails

Critics have long questioned why violent intervention was necessary in Libya. Hillary Clinton’s recently published emails confirm that it was less about protecting the people from a dictator than about money, banking, and preventing African economic sovereignty.

The brief visit of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Libya in October 2011 was referred to by the media as a “victory lap.” “We came, we saw, he died!” she crowed in a CBS video interview on hearing of the capture and brutal murder of Libyan leader Muammar el-Qaddafi.

But the victory lap, write Scott Shane and Jo Becker in the New York Times, was premature. Libya was relegated to the back burner by the State Department, “as the country dissolved into chaos, leading to a civil war that would destabilize the region, fueling the refugee crisis in Europe and allowing the Islamic State to establish a Libyan haven that the United States is now desperately trying to contain.”

US-NATO intervention was allegedly undertaken on humanitarian grounds, after reports of mass atrocities; but human rights organizations questioned the claims after finding alack of evidence. Today, however, verifiable atrocities are occurring. As Dan Kovalik wrote in the Huffington Post, “the human rights situation in Libya is a disaster, as ‘thousands of detainees [including children] languish in prisons without proper judicial review,’ and ‘kidnappings and targeted killings are rampant’.”

Before 2011, Libya had achieved economic independence, with its own water, its own food, its own oil, its own money, and its own state-owned bank. It had arisen under Qaddafi from one of the poorest of countries to the richest in Africa.

Education and medical treatment were free; having a home was considered a human right; and Libyans participated in an original system of local democracy.

The country boasted the world’s largest irrigation system, the Great Man-made River project, which brought water from the desert to the cities and coastal areas; and Qaddafi was embarking on a program to spread this model throughout Africa.

But that was before US-NATO forces bombed the irrigation system and wreaked havoc on the country.
Today the situation is so dire that President Obama has asked his advisors to draw up options including a new military front in Libya, and the Defense Department is reportedly standing ready with “the full spectrum of military operations required.”

The Secretary of State’s victory lap was indeed premature, if what we’re talking about is the officially stated goal of humanitarian intervention.

But her newly-released emails reveal another agenda behind the Libyan war; and this one, it seems, was achieved.

Mission Accomplished?

Of the 3,000 emails released from Hillary Clinton’s private email server in late December 2015, about a third were from her close confidante Sidney Blumenthal, the attorney who defended her husband in the Monica Lewinsky case. One of these emails, dated April 2, 2011, reads in part:

Qaddafi’s government holds 143 tons of gold, and a similar amount in silver . . . . This gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and wasintended to be used to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. This plan was designed to provide the Francophone African Countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA).

In a “source comment,” the original declassified email adds:

According to knowledgeable individuals this quantity of gold and silver is valued at more than $7 billion. French intelligence officers discovered this plan shortly after the current rebellion began, and this was one of the factors that influenced President Nicolas Sarkozy’s decision to commit France to the attack on Libya. According to these individuals Sarkozy’s plans are driven by the following issues:

*A desire to gain a greater share of Libya oil production,
*Increase French influence in North Africa,
*Improve his internal political situation in France,
*Provide the French military with an opportunity to reassert its position in the world,
*Address the concern of his advisors over Qaddafi’s long term plans to supplant France as the dominant power in Francophone Africa

Conspicuously absent is any mention of humanitarian concerns. The objectives are money, power and oil.

Other explosive confirmations in the newly-published emails are detailed by investigative journalist Robert Parry. They include admissions of rebel war crimes, of special ops trainers inside Libya from nearly the start of protests, and of Al Qaeda embedded in the US-backed opposition. Key propaganda themes for violent intervention are acknowledged to be mere rumors. Parry suggests they may have originated with Blumenthal himself. They include the bizarre claim that Qaddafi had a “rape policy” involving passing Viagra out to his troops, a charge later raised by UN Ambassador Susan Rice in a UN presentation. Parry asks rhetorically:

So do you think it would it be easier for the Obama administration to rally American support behind this “regime change” by explaining how the French wanted to steal Libya’s wealth and maintain French neocolonial influence over Africa – or would Americans respond better to propaganda themes about Gaddafi passing out Viagra to his troops so they could rape more women while his snipers targeted innocent children?

Bingo!

"In Hard-Hit Ohio Steel Town, Trump and Sanders Resonate"

NBC

In Hard-Hit Ohio Steel Town, Trump and Sanders Resonate
3/12/16

LORAIN, Ohio - The landscape here looks like a wasteland. And it's about to get worse.

Two steel mills in this city, 30 miles west of Cleveland on Lake Eerie, are set to close by the end of March, laying off hundreds of people in an area that has seen jobs slowly erode for more than two decades.

The final 130 workers at Republic Steel will be out of work when the plant rolls its final order of steel tubular products for oil drilling and fracking equipment in two weeks. And at U.S. Steel, the final 200 workers will also be out of jobs at the end of March.

"It's a sad month," said Brian Sealy, a union official for the United Steelworkers in Lorain. "Overall the trickle-down effect on this community - the closed-up downtown - continues.

That trickle-down effect is devastating to a community like this."

Downtown Lorain is dotted with boarded businesses and deteriorating buildings while dollar stores and run-down used car lots fill in the gaps. The downtown is mostly empty, hosting building after building of blight and despair.

60% of downtown Lorain sits empty

It's a much different scenario than 30 years ago in the 1980s when the steel mills, the largest employers in town, were busy and employed more than 10,000 people.

Now the town of 64,000 people is facing a deficit of more than $2 million dollars in large part because of the loss tax revenue from steel workers.

Union workers blame trade deals, especially the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, passed in 1993. And with the Trans-Pacific Partnership, another trade deal with Asian countries, on the verge of passing, Sealy said the future looks blight.

"There's going to be a lot more offshoring of jobs and that's going to affect us directly," Sealy said.

The closing of the steel mills and the looming threat of TPP,
are coming to the fore while a contentious presidential primary is heading straight to Lorain as Ohio holds its primary Tuesday.

In this traditionally Democratic stronghold, Donald Trump is working for those voters who feel that their livelihood is in jeopardy.

The county of Lorain backed with 58 percent President Barack Obama in 2008 and 56 percent in 2012.

....snip....

Sanders, meanwhile, also has a presence in this working-class enclave of northeast Ohio. He, too, deplores the trade deals and often criticizes his opponent Hillary Clinton for her husband's role in passing NAFTA and her support of TPP until she came out against it during her presidential campaign.

Sanders' campaign office, however, is volunteer-run and -funded. Alan Pugh, who has never participated in politics before, opened the office in downtown Elyria. He and fellow volunteers pay for the rent and all the utilities out of their own coffers.

"Having Bernie and Donald trump both having offices down here speaks to an anti-establishment mentality so the end of establishment politics and economics. People are looking for something a little different than they've experienced in the past 30 years," Pugh said.

Sealy is living it.

"We're struggling everywhere right now. To us it's a crisis."

Bernie tried to warn US!!

1991

And Bernie means it. Trump is just saying what he knows resonates. Republicans will never try to stop Democrats from sending our jobs off shore to be done by others at slave wages so that millionaires can become even richer. Only Democrats from within can stop our party leaders from continuing to kill our working class.

Hillary's Wall Street-Friendly Economic Plan Costs Her Michigan

Hillary's Wall Street-Friendly Economic Plan Costs Her Michigan
by
Les Leopold
Common Dreams

Billed as a major populist economic address, Hillary Clinton put forth her jobs program in Michigan.

Wall Street is smiling. Team Hillary is crying.

Her program fits perfectly within the neoliberal framework as she focuses on how to use public funds and policies to promote private sector gain. There are tax incentives to urge large and small corporations to create more jobs in the U.S.

There are tax breaks to encourage corporations to provide more training and profit sharing plans. And there are tax breaks to promote long term investment instead of short-term gains. To balance this equation, she also calls for exit taxes if companies take tax breaks and then move out of the country. Her mantra is clear: if you do right to the American people, we'll do right by you.

Along the way, she waxes euphoric about the buoyancy of the private sector: "New businesses are opening. Families are moving in. The streetlights are on again. The buses and running again. There is a palpable feeling of pride and community and we have to spread economic revitalization to all of Detroit's neighborhoods." (See here for full speech.)

Not a word is mentioned about public goods or public sector jobs. Clearly, the only real job is a private sector job.

Hillary Sends a Signal to Wall Street: Voters Reject Message

At the same time, she uses a dog whistle to let Wall Street know that she won't be coming down hard on them: "I'm not interested in condemning whole categories of businesses or the entire private sector."

Furthermore, she dances around the perils of free-trade deals by putting the entire blame on China, and therefore not on the Clinton and Obama administrations who were/are gung-ho free traders.

Her silence about NAFTA, however, is deafening. And that's very good news to corporate and financial elites because NAFTA is the trade deal that has facilitated the financial strip-mining of the American worker.

It has placed U.S. workers into direct daily competition with much less expensive labor south of the border.

In fact, Hillary argues all such debates are now ancient history. It's unproductive, she claims, to be "re-fighting battles from 20 years ago..."

But those battles are not over for Michigan workers who feel the incessant pressure from NAFTA on job security and the downward pressure on incomes and benefits.
Hillary can't rebuild the middle-class, even on her own free-market terms, without undoing large parts of NAFTA, and Michigan voters know it.

........snip........

She rejects the two real power moves that could actually change elite Wall Street and corporate behavior. She does not talk about outlawing stock buybacks. And she does not mention the financial speculation tax.

......snip........

While noting that the "auto industry just had its best year ever," Hillary ignores the outrageous case of financial strip-mining at GM. She couldn't mention it because it would also show the revolving door between the Obama administration and Wall Street.

Hillary Clinton’s State Department Armed Saudi Arabia to the Teeth

While Saudi Arabia and Boeing poured cash into the Clinton Foundation, Hillary Clinton's State Department approved enormous sales of Boeing fighter jets to the kingdom.

As Hillary Clinton emerges as the front-runner for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, she’s receiving increased scrutiny for her years as secretary of state — and in particular her hawkish foreign policy. Many critics are focusing especially on her long relationship with Saudi Arabia.

During her tenure as secretary of state, Clinton made weapons transfers to the Saudi government a “top priority.”

On Christmas Eve in 2011, Hillary Clinton and her closest aides celebrated a $29.4 billion sale of over 80 F-15 fighter jets, manufactured by U.S.-based Boeing Corporation, to Saudi Arabia. In a chain of enthusiastic emails, an aide exclaimed that it was “not a bad Christmas present.”

These are the very fighter jets the Saudis have been using to bomb Yemen since March 2015. A year later, at least 2,800 Yemeni civilians have been killed, mostly by airstrikes — and there’s no end in sight.

The indiscriminate Saudi strikes have killed journalists and ambulance drivers. They’ve hit the Chamber of Commerce, facilities supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (also known as Doctors Without Borders), a wedding hall, and a center for the blind. The attacks have also targeted ancient heritage sites in Yemen.

International human rights organizations are saying that the Saudi-led strikes on Yemen may amount to war crimes.

During her tenure as secretary of state, Clinton made weapons transfers to the Saudi government a “top priority,” according to a new report published in The Intercept. And even while Clinton’s State Department was deeply invested in getting weapons to Saudi Arabia, the Clinton Foundation accepted millions of dollars in donations from both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the weapons manufacturer Boeing. Christmas presents were being gifted all around.

Despite the brutal attacks on Yemen and its egregious domestic human rights violations, Saudi Arabia remains the number one U.S. ally in the Arab world.

While the original U.S. interest was to secure Saudi’s vast oil reserves, today only 10 percent of oil used in the United States comes from the kingdom. Instead, U.S. dependence on Saudi oil has been superseded by U.S. dependence on weapons sales.

....snip.....

....While the U.S. government continues to provide massive amounts of weapons to Saudi Arabia, on February 25 the European Union took the extraordinary step of voting for an EU-wide arms embargo to Saudi Arabia. While non-binding, it’s a powerful statement that will put pressure on all European governments......

‘Immunity’ should make Democrats very nervous

by Chris Cillizza

‘Immunity’ should make Democrats very nervous

....Here's the thing: The Democratic establishment, a long while back, put all of its eggs in the Clinton basket. No one of considerable stature in the party challenged her for the nomination (Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, I am looking at you), and virtually every member of the party's power structure got on board with her very early on.

That bandwagoning around Clinton has been overshadowed over the past few months as Sanders' surprisingly strong challenge to Clinton (and his amazing small-dollar fundraising) has drawn much of the focus. But the truth of the matter was and is that the Democratic Party made a massive bet on Clinton about two years ago. That bet was that she was the strongest possible candidate they could field and so it only made sense to push everyone else to the side for her.

But it was a bet. And, like all bets, there was - and is - risk involved. That risk was that sometime before the 2016 general election something might happen that would make it more difficult - or even impossible - for Clinton to win. This is the Clintons we are talking about, after all. For all of their smarts and deep résumés, there does tend to be some serious baggage that trails them wherever they go.

No one - or at least no one outside Clinton's inner circle - would have known way back when that the "Hillary or bust" gamble was made that she had exclusively used a private email server while secretary of state and that a number of pieces of classified material had passed through that server. (There is no debate that classified information was on Clinton's server; the debate is whether it was classified at the time or whether it was classified at a later date.)

That news didn't break until March 2015, when the lining up behind Clinton was already very much under way.

.....But it's my strong impression that the Justice Department doesn't go around granting immunity to people unless the person getting the immunity may be able to shed light on an important part of the investigation. After all, if Pagliano a) knew nothing or b) did nothing wrong, why would he need immunity to talk to the FBI?

That's the question skittish Democrats have to be asking themselves today. The granting of immunity to someone at the center of the email controversy will be taken as a sign that things may get worse for Clinton when it comes to the email server before they get better.............
