Arpaio Tough
From HuffingtonPost:
While Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney attempts to distance himself from the scandalous fallout over the hijinks of his former Arizona co-chair Sheriff Paul Babeau, the tireless Citizens for a Better Arizona group plans to remind TV viewers of the Republican debate in Mesa tonight of another disgraced law enforcement titan that needs to resign: Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The ad, scheduled for various TV outlets, pulls no punches:"He's not tough. He's terrible. He needs to resign."
While Arpaio's campaign stomp for Gov. Rick Perry's disastrous campaign in New Hampshire brought more headlines than votes, Republican candidates like Rick Santorum still made courtesy calls this week, despite the mounting calls for the increasingly reckless Sheriff to hand in his badge.

FBI: 3rd suspect in videotaped gay beating hiding in Pennsylvania
Federal authorities have identified the third Atlanta gang member who they say was videotaped beating a 20-year-old gay man earlier this month.
Dareal Damare Williams is wanted for his part in the Feb. 4 robbery and attack on Brandon White outside a neighborhood market in Atlantas Pittsburgh community, authorities said.
FBI agents in Pittsburgh, Pa., said they believe that Williams, 17, is hiding out in the Erie, Pa., area and issued the alert Wednesday for that part of western Pennsylvania.
Authorities believe Williams is one of three males who punched and kicked Brandon and bludgeoned him with an abandoned car tire before robbing him all while shouting anti-gay slurs in front of a rolling video camera.

Threatening Letters Claiming to Have "Pathogens" Sent to Senators, Media
The FBI and NYPD are investigating threatening letters that claim to contain dangerous pathogens sent to media companies and U.S. senators, law enforcement officials tell NBC New York.
According to law enforcement officials, the person sent letters to Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, of "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," claiming more letters had been sent to 100 senators and various media companies, including The New York Times, Fox News and NPR.
The writer, who voices anger over corporate greed and the state of the U.S. economy, said some of the letters contained harmful substances at random.
The letters are believed to have been mailed from Oregon and are signed "MAB."

Radiation detected 400 miles off Japanese coast
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Radioactive contamination from the Fukushima power plant disaster has been detected as far as almost 400 miles off Japan in the Pacific Ocean, with water showing readings of up to 1,000 times more than prior levels, scientists reported Tuesday.
But those results for the substance cesium-137 are far below the levels that are generally considered harmful, either to marine animals or people who eat seafood, said Ken Buesseler of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts.
He spoke Tuesday in Salt Lake City at the annual Ocean Sciences Meeting, attended by more than 4,000 researchers this week.
The results are for water samples taken in June, about three months after the power plant disaster, Buesseler said. In addition to thousands of water samples, researchers also sampled fish and plankton and found cesium-137 levels well below the legal health limit.

Woman claims doctor secretly sterilized her
RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) -- When Sarah Cotton had severe stomach pain and bleeding in 2007, her sister Brenda Womble took her to see a doctor.
What they saw in CT scan images stunned them.
"We were just flabbergasted," Womble recalled.
The X-Ray images showed Cotton had an IUD - an intrauterine device designed to prevent pregnancy - in her body. Until that moment, Cotton never knew it was there.
The sisters began tracing back through Cotton's medical history, and realized the device had been implanted some 40 years before without her permission.
"It was something forced on her without her consent and I equate that as a woman being raped. It's something against her wishes," offered Womble - a professor at NC Central University.
