Why it matters that 7 states still have bans on atheists holding office

At the polls in TN this November, the GOP had a ballot initiative on removing the prohibition on priests and ministers from holding office from the TN constitution. And of course it was voted in and the clause preventing priest from being government officials has been removed from the TN Constitution. But the TN constitution still has another equally unfair clause remaining against atheist from holding office. So, when do you think the GOP majority in TN is going to change that?

Yeah, I know the Supremes in 1961 ruled those clauses unconstitutional or more specifically: "test for public office cannot be enforced against appellant, because it unconstitutionally invades his freedom of belief and religion guaranteed by the First Amendment and protected by the Fourteenth Amendment from infringement by the States."

But since we now have a very proudly Christian Supreme Court that makes rulings based on Christian superstitions and dogma, can we allow all these clauses to remain unchallenged? Seems law and precedent do not trump Christian mythology and bias in this court.

So should these bans on atheists holding public office be challenged? What would be the repercussions if the Supreme Court were to hear a challenge against one of these state clauses?

Here's a good article on it: https://source.colostate.edu/why-it-matters-that-7-states-still-have-bans-on-atheists-holding-office/

So, what's going on with Matt Dillahunty and the ACA?

The ACA is the Atheist Community of Austin.

They do a popular YouTube show called the Atheist Experience. Matt was one of the most popular hosts but there have been many hosts throughout the show's history. He's a real firebrand and hangs up on rude theist especially when they are lying.

He said on the show he would no longer host and he's saying he's not supporting the ACA on another show he does. Which is kind of strange since he is a former office holder of the ACA and he has supported the ACA for decades.

Anyway, does anyone have inside info on this?

Despite being a Christian, Biden is protecting everyone....

"Today, American Atheists applauded the Biden Administration’s release of proposed regulations restoring nondiscrimination protections in health care included in the Affordable Care Act.

In 2010, President Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act, which included in Section 1557 nondiscrimination protections for patients seeking medical care. In 2016, the Obama Administration finalized rules that provide inclusive protections under this law. However, in 2020, the Trump Administration added religious exemptions with the express purpose of undermining those protections. The Administration particularly targeted pregnant patients, transgender and gender-nonconforming patients, non-English speakers, and patients who’d previously had an abortion.

“The Department of Health and Human Services should be able to enforce basic nondiscrimination laws without special accommodations for the fringe objections of Christian extremists who want to discriminate,” said Alison Gill, Vice President for Legal and Policy. “We applaud the Biden Administration for taking these important steps to prohibit discrimination, while avoiding the dangerously broad religious exemptions the Trump Administration created.”"

This is what we should expect from all Christians in government. But instead the most powerful Christians force their myths and superstitions onto our laws.

I find it interesting this anti-vaxxer convoy comes out

When Shorty Putin is being pressured by Canada and other countries to leave the Ukraine alone. Canada sent troops over last month.

I wonder if these vaccine snowflakes would like to take their convoy over to the Ukraine and do some real work. You know maybe they could surround the Ukraine capital and protect it from losing its freedom to Russia. Nah, that's too scary for them.

Only in a democratic nation can you get away with this stupidity. Try it on Russia Koch Bros.
