My How Times Have Changed. Trump on EU 2013

/snip/

In January 2013, Trump wrote an op-ed in the cyber pages of CNN enthusiastically endorsing the economic benefits of Europe-wide interdependence and calling for nations “to leave borders behind.”

“The near meltdown we experienced a few years ago made it clear that our economic health depended on dependence on each other to do the right thing,” Trump wrote in 2013.

“I think we’ve all become aware of the fact that our cultures and economics are intertwined,” Trump said. “Never before has the phrase ‘we’re all in this together’ had more resonance or relevance.”

Trump also expressed his support for transnational globalism.

Ohio House passes bill to deny funds to Planned Parenthood

Source: Reuters

Ohio state legislators on Wednesday passed a bill blocking state and federal funds for groups that perform or promote abortions, effectively cutting $1.3 million annually used by Planned Parenthood clinics for HIV testing, pre-natal care and other programs.

Governor John Kasich, a Republican presidential candidate, is expected to sign the bill, which the state Senate had already passed.

House Bill 294, which passed 59 to 32, blocks women's health providers that also provide abortions, or groups that refer patients to those providers, from receiving funds from a variety of state and federal grants.

Planned Parenthood said the bill would hinder lower-income women's access to testing for sexually transmitted diseases, HIV tests and well-baby programs. According to its website, Planned Parenthood has 20 clinics in Ohio. Two provide abortions and all provide abortion referral.

With most Republicans keen to deny funds to Planned Parenthood, Kasich will have the opportunity to sign the bill ahead of the party's presidential primary on Feb. 20 in South Carolina.

Florida Man at it again

Assault with a deadly weapon: Florida man charged with throwing alligator into Wendy’s

A Florida man accused of throwing a live alligator through a drive-through window has been arrested, authorities say.

Joshua James, of Jupiter, Fla., faces three charges, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; a charge related to the illegal killing, capture or possession of an alligator; and petty theft.

James, 24, is accused of throwing a 3 1/2-foot alligator through a Wendy’s drive-through window in October, according to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission incident report cited by NBC affiliate WPTV. He was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Detention Center on Monday.

Officials say James pulled up to receive his order, was handed a drink, then pulled the alligator out of the back of his truck and tossed it into the restaurant after the drive-through attendant had turned around, according to WPTV.

The state agency’s report featured a picture of the alligator, flat with its legs splayed on the fast food restaurant’s brown-tile floor.

Investigators used surveillance video and a receipt to find James, who admitted to picking up the animal on the side of a road and bringing it to the restaurant.

His parents described James as an outdoorsman and harmless prankster, adding that he viewed famous crocodile hunter and conservationist Steve Irwin as an idol, WPTV reported.

Ed and Linda James told the station that their son was pranking a Wendy’s employee that he knew.
