Today Oklahoma City gathers to run the Memorial Marathon in remembrance of the 168 souls that were lost on April 19, 1995 including 19 children. After all these years it still feels like an open wound to think any human being could drive a truck full of explosives up to a building, park it in front of the day care center full of children and detonate that bomb.

This was home grown. I remember hearing all the "get the towel head" comments and then the shock when we found out the bomber looked like the kid next door. It was frightening and forever changed the way I saw the United States.

We have more people like Tim McVeigh than we had then, they are everywhere, arming themselves, planning overthrow of our great country. We must be forever vigilant.

May the victims rest forever in peace...

equals something awful. If someone is already unbalanced and sits all day watching Fox how could they not become angry in a bad way. I guess I'm thinking of the guy who sent the ricin to Obama.

This morning I read an article in our illustrious state newspaper The Oklahoman lamenting what the sequester would do to medical research at OU Health Science Center in OKC. Funny, this paper has been banging the small government drum, backs tea party candidates, never met a right winger they didn't like and generally would like to see the middle class dead.

Rep. Lankford and others tell voters that the sequester will not hurt them and the pain of it is overblown. Now that people are seeing it impact them, they are beginning to ask questions. I heard a lady yesterday in the grocery store say "I just want the money shut off to welfare mothers in Detroit not Tinker Air Force base where my son works". Well...start paying attention, get some education and you might be able to figure out you are being manipulated by right wing media, republicans and the tea party. All of the above being controlled by rich white guys who don't give a damn about you, your kids, your parents, your job nothing. They only care about getting richer at our expense.

I do not understand the fear of science. OU Health Science researchers are doing cutting edge work on diabetes, Parkinson's and other horrible diseases. We are slowly killing all independent thought including research. This from a state who has a Senator who believes global warming is a myth.

We are quickly becoming a country full of functional idiots.
