Schumer: NYPD shouldn’t protect First Family if Trump won’t pay up

The Trump administration should pony up for the First Family’s security costs, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says — or else the NYPD should stop protecting wife Melania and son Barron.

“[Mayor Bill de Blasio] ought to tell the Congress if we don’t pay for it, New York City cops aren’t guarding it,” the New York City Democrat told BuzzFeed News. “Let the feds put more people in.”.........................

Yes, Trump did this--and perhaps the reason I crinch when I see/hear this chant is that I do not trust Trump to keep his word.

They apparently didn't notice that Trump specifically decided not to lock her up, about 2 minutes after taking the oath.

UPDATE: Bill prohibiting abortion coverage for public employees passes Assembly committee

By Greg Neumann

MADISON (WKOW) -- On a 7-3 party-line vote, Republicans on the Assembly Health Committee passed legislation Wednesday that would prohibit the state's Group Insurance Board from offering health insurance plans to state employees that cover the cost of an abortion, except in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the mother is at risk.

Under current health insurance plans offered to state employees, abortions are also covered when physicians deem them "medically necessary."

"That is not elective," said Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milwaukee) "Medically necessary, so that's when the health of the mother is at risk."

"There is no clear standard in state statute in place for medically necessary or therapeutic," said the author of Assembly Bill 128, Rep. Andre Jacque (R-De Pere). "And we know that there are abortionists that will always certify any abortion procedure as medically necessary."

AB 128 removes insurance coverage for such abortions deemed medically necessary, leaving in place the other exceptions.

But one of the Democrats on the committee - who is a former medical professional - said taking that provision out is unsafe for women.

"I'm telling you that in my years in medicine I have seen the need for this," said Rep. Deb Kolste (D-Janesville), who worked as a medical technologist. "It can be split-second and needs to be decided by a woman with her physician."

Trump supporter asks a federal court to hold the president liable for any damages stemming from a lawsuit filed by protesters who attended a Kentucky campaign stop.

By Kenneth P. Vogel

A white nationalist leader accused of assaulting a young African-American woman at a Donald Trump campaign rally filed a countersuit on Monday claiming the president directed him and other supporters to remove protesters.

Matthew Heimbach claims in his federal court filing that he “acted pursuant to the directives and requests of Donald J. Trump and Donald J. Trump for President” and that, if he’s found liable for damages, “any liability must be shifted to one or both of them.”

The legal fight stems from a March 2016 rally in Louisville, Kentucky,
at which protesters were allegedly roughed up and ejected by Trump supporters after the then-candidate barked from the stage “get ’em out of here!”

The protesters filed civil assault and battery claims against Heimbach and two other Trump supporters and accused Trump of inciting his supporters.

Heimbach, a leader of the white supremacist Traditionalist Youth Network and a vocal Trump supporter during the campaign, can be seen in video from the Louisville rally pushing and screaming at a young African-American woman as Trump bellows “get out!”

(CNN)President Donald Trump's 100th day in office has become, perhaps unintentionally, an inspiration for artists nationwide.

Art exhibits, poetry sessions and dance performances are popping up to mark the first three months of the Trump administration, most casting themselves as acts of resistance.
"After the election, I had very strong feelings about what was happening, and for a while, I was very frustrated," said Matt Adams, curator of The First 100 Days: Artists Respond, a Houston-based exhibition opening Saturday.

When Adams decided to do an art show, he called on artists from "both sides of the aisle" but received no submissions in favor of the President.............
