DON IMUS: My only point is that while I thank you for your service to our country, that doing this book makes you essentially just a money-grubbing weasel.

GARY BYRNE: No, it’s not about the money.

IMUS: Well listen, [inaudible] been born tonight, dude, but I wasn’t born last night.

Trump Stops Rally To Say Plane Flying Could Be Mexico Preparing 'To Attack' (VIDEO)

By Sara Jerde Published

Donald Trump stopped talking about his views on free trade Thursday to surmise that a random plane flying overhead at his campaign rally was Mexico "getting ready to attack."

Trump, speaking at a rally in New Hampshire, pivoted his discussion to talking about Mexico and trading with the country.

"Mexico, and I respect Mexico, I respect their leaders, what they've done to us is incredible. Their leaders are so much smarter, so much sharper. And it's incredible," Trump said.

Then, a plane could be heard flying overhead.

"In fact, that could be a Mexican plane up there — they're getting ready to attack," he said.

JUST IN: South Carolina Bathroom Bill Sponsor Thrown Out Of Public Office (DETAILS)
By Caleb R. Newton -
June 30, 2016

The sponsor of failed state legislation in South Carolina mimicking North Carolina’s anti-LGBT “bathroom bill” has been defeated in a Republican runoff primary race.

As reported by WLTX News, “Bright led a four-way primary two weeks ago with 38 percent of the vote over [Scott] Talley’s 27 percent. Two GOP Senate committee chairmen and a longtime Democrat also lost.”

As Greenville Online also reports, “With all precincts in Tuesday night, Talley had captured 299 more votes than Bright to win with 51.5 percent, according to the State Election Commission.”

Talley will now likely be the next state Senator from his district, since no other person has filed to run in the general election according to reports.

The incumbent State Senator, Lee Bright, was, according to the local CBS affiliate station (WLTX), the “only incumbent publicly opposed by the state Chamber of Commerce’s political committee.”

Talley enjoyed the endorsement of the Chamber of Commerce’s political committee, along with the endorsement of the Governor, Republican Nikki Haley....................

Canada's House Of Commons Absolutely Adores President Obama

President Obama met with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, at the North American Summit in Ottawa, Canada. Perhaps the best part of the trip was when our President Obama entered the House of Commons.

President Obama was greeted with the respect and adulation he never received in the U.S. Congress. Canada is obviously much more appreciative of a competent leader. President Obama addressed the Canadian Parliament:

"Thank you for this extraordinary welcome, which tempts me to just shut up and leave because it can’t get any better than this,” Obama began.

But continue he did, for a full 50 minutes, touching on everything from equal pay for women and climate change to economic justice.

Trump Duly Slapped, Elizabeth Warren Returns to What She Does Best

Trump Duly Slapped, Elizabeth Warren Returns to What She Does Best
Wall Street will hate it.

Fresh from her first appearance on the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton, Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Wednesday returned to her favorite activity: going after Wall Street. With Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), Warren submitted a bill aimed at strengthening regulation of the derivatives market, now notorious for its contribution to the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008. Derivatives are contracts whose value is derived from (and changes according to) the value of other assets, which allows parties in the contract to speculate, sometimes wildly, on the underlying asset's value.

"The only way to make sure that derivatives can never lead to a financial crisis and taxpayer bailouts again is to put in place clearer rules and stronger oversight," Warren said in a press release. A 2011 government report on the sources of the financial crisis found that a key role was played by so-called over-the-counter derivatives. The lack of regulation of these derivatives was the direct result of government policy: a bill passed in 2000—over the warnings of Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chair Brooksley Born—that banned state and federal regulation of OTC derivatives.

This changed with the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010, which brought the OTC derivatives market under regulatory scrutiny. Warren's bill, the Derivatives Oversight and Taxpayer Protection Act, now aims to build on that regulatory framework despite stiff opposition in the Republican-controlled Congress, where GOP lawmakers are working in the opposite direction. Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, proposed legislation earlier this month aimed at dismantling large portions of Dodd-Frank. Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump says he will dismantle Dodd-Frank if elected (although his statements have been short on detail).

A key provision in Warren's proposal is aimed at increasing funding for the CFTC, which has seen its budget stagnate even as the markets it is supposed to monitor balloon. The agency has been complaining of inadequate funding for years: In 2013, former chairman Gary Gensler—now the Clinton campaign's chief financial officer—told Bloomberg Businessweek that the agency needed "hundreds of more people to swim through all this data." This April, the agency's new chair, Timothy Massad, urged a Senate subcommittee to increase the budget allocation for his agency.

Warren's bill would allow the commission to collect user fees......................

Cities Bill Trump for the High Cost of Rallies

Cities Bill Trump for the High Cost of Rallies

Cities across the U.S. are discovering that a visit from Donald Trump isn’t cheap. The presumptive Republican nominee kicked off his California campaign on April 28 at the Pacific Amphitheatre in the Orange County suburb of Costa Mesa, south of Los Angeles. Anti-Trump protesters outside turned violent, blocking a freeway on-ramp and trying to overturn a police cruiser. The night ended with 17 arrests, five damaged police vehicles—and a $30,000 bill for the city.

Officials sent a bill to Trump’s campaign for $15,000 to cover police overtime, hoping to recoup the remaining property damage costs from people who were arrested. “It’s a venue where politicians typically come, and it’s literally never been an issue,” says city spokesman Tony Dodero.

QuickTake U.S. Campaign Finance

Costa Mesa isn’t the only city that’s been hit with costs because of Trump’s unconventional campaign. Rallies in Albuquerque and San Jose ended with violent clashes between Trump backers and protesters, unheard of in any presidential campaign since George Wallace’s in 1968 and 1972.

.........................

Neither Costa Mesa nor Wilkes-Barre has yet been reimbursed. Nor has Eugene, Oregon, which the Associated Press reported has billed the campaign for $92,300 in extra staff costs and overtime for firefighters and police assigned to Trump’s May 6 rally there.

There is a formal process for submitting such requests, but campaigns are under no obligation to help cities defray the ancillary costs of hosting campaign events. Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks says the campaign pays for security inside venues, but following standard protocol leaves U.S. Secret Service and municipal or county law enforcement to coordinate on handling crowds outside. Officials in Cleveland, which will host the Republican National Convention starting on July 18, are also preparing for protests, but the federal government will cover as much as $50 million in security costs for both the GOP gathering and the Democratic convention in Philadelphia later in July. Hillary Clinton’s campaign did not respond to questions about whether it had been billed.

............Law enforcement officials told Bloomberg News that the Trump campaign's tendency to sell more tickets than there are seats available results in large crowds outside of venues, sometimes ending in clashes with protesters.

Matt Rokus, the deputy police chief in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, said that for a rally in the city, the Trump campaign sold 6,000 tickets for a venue that seats 1,800.

"Duh, there’s going to be a problem," Rokus told Bloomberg News. "You got a bunch of people who drove hours to get there thinking they had a seat."..................
