Fears Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump may be pursuing a Russian agenda with his candidacy have triggered a wave of alarm in the US.

A series of links between Mr Trump's circle of advisers, his policy positions on the future of NATO, his statements of admiration for Russian president Vladimir Putin and even the overlap between his supporters and those touting pro-Russia views online have contributed to this view.

The concerns have prompted a series of high-profile American commentators and analysts to suggest Mr Trump may be getting backing from Russia for his US campaign.

Respected publications such as Slate, economist Paul Krugman writing in The New York Times, and The Washington Post have commented on the convergence between Mr Trump's statements and geopolitical positions that Russia has long sought, with worrying implications should Trump become president...................

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine is not Mr. Excitement, as he'd be the first to say, but he is the smartest vice presidential pick Hillary Clinton could have made.

Kaine is not going to fire up the Bernie-or-bust crowd and he is, there’s no way to avoid noticing, a middle-aged white guy (58, to be exact). But he does have the virtue of checking every other box on Clinton's wish list – starting with the confidence that, as she put it in an interview with Charlie Rose, her running mate “could literally get up one day and be the president of the United States.”

She called that her top priority. It is ours as well.

If resume is destiny, Kaine was inevitable. He is a former city council member, mayor, lieutenant governor and governor who has become a student of war and foreign policy in the Senate. As governor he even had to prove himself in the tragic role presidents must play all too often, as consoler in chief after a mass shooting (the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre that left 32 people dead)./....................

While developer Donald Trump was busy getting the Republican Party’s presidential nomination this week, he was losing big in a Miami-Dade County courtroom.

Circuit Court Judge Jorge Cueto, presiding over a lawsuit related to unpaid bills brought by a local paint store against the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort, ordered the billionaire politician’s company to pay the Doral-based mom-and-pop shop nearly $300,000 in attorney’s fees.........................

TAMPA, Fla. — Hillary Clinton made no mention of her potential running mate during a rally here Friday evening, instead delivering a fiery rebuttal to Donald Trump's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

"The last thing we need is somebody running for president who talks trash about America," Clinton said of the Republican nominee's lengthy address in Cleveland.

Though she acknowledged the focus on her at the GOP convention in general was "kind of perversely flattering," she slammed Trump's two main messages: "I alone can fix this" and "I am your voice."

Clinton accused Trump of offering a "dark and divisive vision" beyond what he's said in the past. "Last night's speech took it to a whole new level. He offered a lot of fear and anger. And resentment but no solutions about anything that he even talked about," she said. ....................

NEWARK, Ohio -- A county official in Ohio is apologizing after a newspaper quoted him as saying presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton "should be hanging from a tree."



Flowers says he made the remark during a casual conversation with two other officials and a reporter from The Advocate that he thought was off the record.

Flowers says he "will never again have a casual conversation with a reporter."

Licking County Democratic Party Chairwoman Grace Cherrington says Flowers' remarks promote "violence and divisiveness."....................

This is very Trumpesque. Ivanka Trump is double monetizing her RNC appearances by tweeting this morning, “Shop Ivanka’s look from her #RNC speech,” with an affiliate link to a dress from her clothing line.

The affiliate link goes to Ivanka’s own line of clothing at Macy’s, although the dress appears to not be the exact dress she wore. The affiliate link means she’s making commission off of her link, as well as the money from sales of her clothing line.

This only adds fuel to the fire of the speculation that Donald Trump is in it for the money.
