Sanders drops lawsuit against DNC

By Ben Kamisar

Bernie Sanders' campaign is dropping its lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee for restricting access to its voter files.

The move came Friday after an independent investigation into Democratic presidential campaigns' handling of party voter data.

............

But Sanders' campaign claimed the investigation showed the unauthorized access came from "the DNC's security failures" and that only four campaign staffers, including one who was immediately fired, were aware they could access some of Clinton's data for a one-hour window.

The DNC said the investigation confirmed what they first learned.

“The forensic analysis conducted by the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike confirmed that the DNC’s initial findings, which were the basis of the temporary shutdown in December, were accurate," said DNC communications director Luis Miranda in a statement.

"The audit confirmed that one campaign gained unauthorized access to the data of another, and the audit further confirmed that the results of those searches were saved within the system and that data was exported. Following the conclusion of the audit that confirmed the DNC's original findings, the Sanders campaign withdrew its lawsuit."

The DNC also provided a timeline that notes that the four Sanders staffers "conducted 25 searches using proprietary Hillary for America score data across 11 states.

Russ Feingold Says In-State Donor Pledge Has 'No Relationship To Reality' Anymore

Feingold Says In-State Donor Pledge Has 'No Relationship To Reality' Anymore

Democratic Senate Candidate Pushes Back On Criticism Regarding Decades-Old Pledge

By Laurel White

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold says a 1992 pledge to get the majority of his campaign donations from inside the state just isn’t realistic anymore.

Feingold, who is running to reclaim his old seat against GOP incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson, has taken heat from his opponent’s campaign for not following the decades-old pledge.

"The idea that somebody whose ads are actually being paid for now by the Koch brothers and these hidden groups would be complaining about the fact that I'm not going to have a rule that has no relationship to reality now is a little amusing," Feingold told reporters on Thursday, referring to billionaire conservative political donors Charles and David Koch.

Feingold said the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizen United campaign financing decision has "completely changed the game" by allowing unlimited campaign spending by corporations.

Feingold also said on Thursday that, despite not following the former pledge, he still has more Wisconsin donors than Johnson.

The Johnson campaign didn’t return a request for comment.

Trump’s Wall Backfires: Hispanic Voter Registration Skyrockets In The Face Of GOP Threat

Donald Trump's threat to build a wall is backfiring on the Republican Party as Hispanics are registering to vote in bigger than ever numbers for the purpose of voting against Trump in November.

Donald Trump’s threat to build a wall is backfiring on the Republican Party as Hispanics are registering to vote in bigger than ever numbers for the purpose of voting against Trump in November.

The Hill reported:

Arturo Vargas, executive director of the National Association of Elected and Appointed Officials, projects 13.1 million Hispanics will vote nationwide in 2016, compared to 11.2 million in 2012 and 9.7 million in 2008.

Many of those new Hispanic voters are also expected to vote against Trump if he is the Republican nominee, something that appears much more likely after the front-runner’s sweeping primary victories Tuesday in five East Coast states.

A whopping 80 percent of respondents in a poll of registered Hispanic voters in Colorado and Nevada said Trump’s views on immigration made them less likely to vote for Republicans in November. In Florida, that number was 68 percent.

Many of these new voters are in California and Texas, but there are also registration spikes being reported in Colorado, Florida, and Nevada. There is also speculation that increased Hispanic voter registration could put Arizona into play in the fall.

Donald Trump’s threat to build a wall between the US and Mexico has had the opposite effect of what Trump intended. The plan to build the wall has motivated millions of Hispanic Americans to register to vote so that they can cast their ballots against Trump this fall. Donald Trump’s wall is wildly popular with his supporters in the Republican Party, but it is a losing position with voters in the general election. Trump is turning off the voters that his party needs if they are going to win back the White House.

In other words, the only wall that Trump is successfully constructing is a barrier between Republican and victory.

Black Women Rally Behind Hillary Clinton

It was a matter of time. Good strategy by Hillary. She mingles with the crowd also. We see lots of pics of her doing this. I see Bernie was 'mingling' last few days. Hillary is a good teacher and Bernie has finally caught on.

Hillary Clinton never goes very far without black women sharing the stage, introducing her around or casting ballots for her in outsize numbers—and they are a prime reason she stands on the cusp of claiming the Democratic presidential nomination.

Black women have long played a big role in Mrs. Clinton’s life and career, and now their expanding roles in politics—as voters, officeholders and activists—have lifted the Clinton campaign...

U.S. Democrat Hillary Clinton is the only presidential contender scheduled to attend a reception next week organized by a leading political association of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as she seeks to consolidate her support from minority voters.

By Luciana Lopez

NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. Democrat Hillary Clinton is the only presidential contender scheduled to attend a reception next week organized by a leading political association of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as she seeks to consolidate her support from minority voters.

The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Leadership Network, a nonpartisan group that seeks to get Asian Americans elected to political office, said on Wednesday that it had invited all presidential hopefuls to the event in Washington, but Clinton was the only one to accept.

The campaigns of Clinton’s Democratic rival Bernie Sanders and Republican hopeful Ted Cruz did not commit, and the campaign of Republican front-runner Donald Trump campaign responded that he was unlikely to attend, Floyd Mori, president and chief executive of the leadership network said.

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are a smaller group, making up about 5.6 percent of the population, according to U.S. Census data. But in recent years they have been among the fastest-growing ethnic groups in the United States.

“We are a vote that is becoming increasingly powerful,” said Rep. Judy Chu, a Democrat in Congress representing California, who will introduce Clinton at the event. “In this election we are the swing vote in the swing states,” Chu said, pointing to Virginia and Nevada.

Despite Trump Claims, Clinton Earning More Woman Voters

By Meghan Keneally

In the latest string of primaries, Donald Trump's assertions that women don't like Hillary Clinton has been proven wrong.

Clinton received a higher percentage of the vote among female Democrats than Trump received among female Republicans on Tuesday night.

Those results were tallied after Trump credited Clinton's sex as the reason for her success.

"If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don't think she would get five percent of the vote," he said at his victory party Tuesday. ...................

Trump on Clinton: 'I'm going to be taking a lot of things Bernie said and using them'

Previewing his likely general election bout with Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump on Wednesday said he would reuse some of Bernie Sanders' material for his own purposes.

"Bernie Sanders has a message that's interesting. I'm going to be taking a lot of things Bernie said and using them," Trump said in a lengthy telephone interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

Trump continued, saying that he could re-read some of Sanders' speeches "and get some very good material."

"He said some things about her that are actually surprising. That essentially she has no right to even be running. She's got bad judgment," Trump said, in reference to Sanders' comment earlier this month where said that while Clinton may be experienced enough to be president, "in terms of her judgment, something is clearly lacking."
