Arizona Senate - Predictive Insights 5/01/19
Martha McSally (R): 45%
Mark Kelly (D): 44%

The second poll on our race is in and it’s showing what we already know: people are excited about Mark’s mission for Arizona!

What’s even more important? Our campaign is NOT accepting a single dollar from corporate PACs.
This means our race is going to be funded by lots of people giving small amounts of money – often in response to emails like this.

We’re counting on YOU to help keep the deep-pocketed special interests at bay. So can you make another donation today? You can use this link and select DONATE and his biography, issue statements and more.

National Women's Political Caucus

Disclaimer: I am a member of NWPC and I support both Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren as my top two choices.

As I've said before, Democrats have a field of very talented and accomplished candidates. Whoever wins the primary, has my full support. Women's rights, hard fought for, are in danger of reversals by male dominated political, religious and corporate interests. imo

National Women’s Political Caucus Stands Against Abortion Restrictions Nationwide

NWPC is appalled by the recent attacks on women’s reproductive freedom. Since the beginning of 2019, 30 states have introduced legislation that impacts a woman’s right reproductive decisions.

Most recently, the Alabama Senate passed a measure that intends to ban abortions, even in the case of rape and incest. This legislation criminalizes the doctor who performs an abortion with up to 99 years in prison. Last week, Alabama’s Governor Kay Ivey signed the bill into law.

“These attacks on women must be stopped,” said Donna Lent, National President.

“We must continue to fight against these barbaric and repressive laws that attempt to strip women of their bodily autonomy. NWPC has spent nearly fifty years fighting for a woman’s right to choose. We succeeded with Roe and we will continue to fight against these abhorrent attacks which do nothing more than punish women!”

Roe v. Wade is the landmark Supreme Court decision of 1973 that protects women’s “right to privacy” and freedom to have an abortion.

“Abortions are still legal in all fifty states and the NWPC will continue to fight alongside our sister organizations to uphold a woman’s right to privacy and abortions,” continued Lent.

“Attacks on women’s rights further demonstrates the essential role of NWPC in recruiting, training, and electing pro-choice women.”

Freddie Fender

From my lurking in your forum, there are Spanish translators?

https://www.allmusic.com/artist/freddy-fender-mn0000188342/biography
Freddy Fender was one of the few Hispanic stars in country music, a singer and songwriter whose work was defined largely by its strong Latin sensibility. Born Baldemar Huerta to a family of migrant laborers in San Benito, TX, on June 4, 1937, Fender began playing guitar early in his childhood. After dropping out of school at the age of 16 to join the Marine Corps, he released his first Spanish-language recordings under his given name in 1958.

This is for Pauline.

I'm, as always, a bit late in remembering Hallmark Holidays. My kin were grateful for anything on paper that could be tossed into the "pot". The ability to read is now a statement of higher education (snark).

Planned Parenthood sues over Arizona abortion laws

April 11th, 2019 by Associated Press

PHOENIX (AP) — Abortion rights groups filed a lawsuit Thursday challenging Arizona laws they say unnecessarily restrict access to the procedures and leave most rural areas without clinics.

The legal action by Planned Parenthood Arizona targets laws that prohibit anyone other than a physician from performing abortions; require patients to visit clinics twice over a 24-hour period for counseling; and bar the use of telemedicine in providing abortion services.

The intent of the laws is to "impede both women and medical providers so systematically that abortion becomes more onerous and even unavailable to many," according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit says the statutes have led to a 40% reduction in the number of abortions provided by Planned Parenthood since 2011.

In addition, the laws are medically unjustified and have led to the closure of Planned Parenthood offices in Yuma, Goodyear, Prescott Valley and Chandler, the lawsuit states. ....snip

This is how the Republic dies?

OMG, I find that some diaries are limited to those who have "joined" a political group on DU, It's no longer enough for me to declare party loyalty to comment?

Ask the administrators, don't ask me why or to explain that "for the good of...."

My comment is rhetorical
