They're Beautiful.

A tiger cub and lion cub play together at the Akwaaba Lodge in Rustenburg, South Africa. They are being looked after at the zoo after they were abandoned by their mums.

At the Akwaaba Lodge there are three lions, a tiger, and a spotted hyena. The owner of the four- star hotel, Layla Cajee, has raised the cubs from birth. Bella the tiger, five months, is the leader of the pack, while the three lions, Delano, Romeo and Maximus, also five months. Meanwhile the eldest - Milika the hyena, six months - is the most mischievous in the motley crew.

What is up with the Southern Re Thugs

I mean, Seriously, what is going on with you Southern ReThug elected officials? I know you lost what was left of your pea-brains the moment this country sent that Uppity Negro to the White House not once, but TWICE.

So, you resort to making tasteless jokes about very real tragedies, and essentially let God and everyone know that you love your guns more than you care about a school full of kindergarteners who won’t be seeing all the other milestones of their lives; that you don’t give a shyt about terrorists if they’re home-grown; that you will hold up governance of the people if you can’t run thangs.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your viewing horror, I give you two state-sanctioned elected ReThugs: Senator Stacey Campfield of Tennessee, and State Rep. Nate Bell of Arkansas, courtesy of my fellow racism-chaser, the Field Negro:

“A Tennessee state senator is refusing to apologize for what many are calling a “tasteless” joke about pressure cookers in his blog in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing.Republican State Sen. Stacey Campfield posted a photo of a pressure cooker with “Assault Pressure Cooker (APC)” printed below it.
The photo had labels and arrows pointing to all of the pot’s “dangerous” features including a “muzzle break thingy that goes ‘up’” and a “tactical pistol grip.”
It’s also described as “large-capacity, can cook for hours without reloading” and the color was “evil, black.”

The blog post was titled, “Here comes Feinstein again,” an apparent dig at Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.), one of the leading proponents in the battle for gun control. The image implied that pressure cookers might be her next target.
Two pressure cookers were turned into bombs in the Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and wounded more than 260 people.

The rest is here!

Elizabeth Warren on Boston.

From my email

It's a calm, quiet day in Boston today. It's difficult to believe that such horror filled our streets only a week ago.

Two times, bombs rocked the streets of Copley Square. Three lives were taken that day, and a law enforcement officer was killed just three days later. More than 260 people were wounded, many of whom remain hospitalized with amputations and other scars of tragedy.

I've heard from folks across the country, asking what they can do to help. Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have formed a fund to help the people most affected by these tragic events.

If you're looking for a way to help, please consider making a donation to The One Fund Boston today.

During the Boston Marathon, everyone in our city cheers for each other. We help each other across the finish line. When terror struck, we acted as a family. Throughout the chaos, courageous people ran toward danger to help strangers in need.

Now we cry together. We pray together. We help each other.

No one can replace what we've lost here in Boston. But today, and in the weeks and months ahead, we'll get through it together -- through sorrow and anger, rehabilitation and recovery. That's what families do.

The OFA family knows how to work together to accomplish amazing things. Let's make a difference for the Boston Marathon victims.

Your donation will directly help the families who need it most.

Please make a donation now to The One Fund Boston:

From West, Texas to Watertown, Massachusetts, we remember and honor the men, women, and children we lost last week. We help those whose lives will never be the same. And we thank our first responders, medical professionals, law enforcement officers, and National Guard for their heroic work.

I'm very proud of the people of Massachusetts for their strength, resolve, and courage. Bostonians are tough.

We are fighters -- and we cannot be broken.

No matter where you live, thank you for being with us in our time of crisis and our time of healing. We run together.

Elizabeth

First Lady Michelle Obama Pays Tribute To Midshipmen

Annapolis feast with 4,000 midshipmen includes the mac & cheese recipe from Mrs. Obama's book 'American Grown'...
As part of her Joining Forces campaign, First Lady Michelle Obama on Wednesday visited the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD for a luncheon with midshipmen where she paid tribute to the future leaders as the nation's "best and brightest." Mrs. Obama was seated at the head table with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Capt. Robert E. Clark III, Commandant of midshipmen, and Midshipman 2nd class Justin Chock, a political science major from Honolulu, and other students. (Above, Mrs. Obama seated between Chock, l, and Clark)

The First Lady's visit came ahead of a bill signing at the State House with Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley for the Veterans Full Employment Act of 2013, which could benefit the students when they leave the military. Clad in a bright red pleated sleeveless dress and pearls with matching red heels, Mrs. Obama thanked the 4,000 midshipmen for their "service and sacrifice" as she stood beside a golden bell on a circular dais in the vast, airy mess hall.

"The degree of discipline and rigor that it takes to do what you do is truly amazing," Mrs. Obama said. "Barack and I, we are so proud of you all."

"We know you are some of the best and brightest that this country has to offer. It's important that you know that you have a President and a First Lady who will keep working to make sure that this country serves you as well as you serve us."

Here's what Watertown, Ma. has to say!

Watertown residents and officials react to shootout, manhunt

WATERTOWN —
Twenty-four hours after the second Boston Marathon bombing suspect was caught in an East Watertown neighborhood, ending a 15-hour man hunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Watertown residents crowded into local eateries, walked the streets and zoomed around the streets.
Riding into Watertown Square on the 71 bus, the 20 minute ride out of Harvard Square was littered with chatter about the manhunt that had the Boston suburb on lock down for Most
of Friday.

SNIP:

“I am proud to live in Watertown," he added. "Our public safety, our first responders, our public works, our citizens. We as a community deserve a lot of credit for having terrorists in our community and how we responded to that."

SNIP:

"It seemed that they did an excellent job and despite all of the bullets fired, no citizens were hurt throughout this," she said. There were no citizezns, no residents that were involved. The police and the fire that were involved were very professional."

When asked if she thinks the event will change the town, Lenk said no.

"I don't think so," she said. "I think it will make us stronger."

This could move us forward

If you have not seen this before it is worth the time.

Shift Change examines the movement toward democratic, worker-owned businesses from the Mondragón Cooperative Corporation [MCC] in the Basque region of Spain to the recent creation of the Evergreen Cooperatives in Cleveland, Ohio.

Produced by Melissa Young and Mark Dworkin, this film explores a different kind of business model, putting communities and human lives above bottom line profits. You can hear a few of the stories from these worker/owners and learn about the success of the model in the short clip below. You can also read a bit each of the coops featured in the video by clicking here.
