About Me

Always a Democrat. I can't understand conservatives. I try to understand them, but I can't. They don't make sense. Our country has gone so far right since 1981. I was just an average American who took many Democratic values for granted when Reagan was elected. It was like the rug was pulled out from under our society. Reagan ruined our country.

Is this rural community really Texas' sickest county?

It’s impossible to know for sure how the new coronavirus got to rural Donley County, but locals bet it took U.S. Route 287, like everything else.

The highway carries 14,000 cars through on a normal day, about four for each of the 3,387 people living in the perfectly rectangular county near the Oklahoma side of the Texas Panhandle. Drivers stop at the Allsup’s or Cornell’s Country Store as they blaze from Dallas toward Denver or back again.

When known coronavirus cases are mapped for each of Texas’ 254 counties, Donley County looks like a sickly glitch, an outlier: It was reporting nearly 7 cases for every 1,000 people as of Sunday. The state’s next-highest known rate of infection was under 5 per 1,000, also in a Panhandle county; in Dallas, that figure was less than 1 per 1,000.

But the statistical aberration may better reflect Texas’ limited coronavirus testing than Donley County’s poor health.

It's been 10 years....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepwater_Horizon_oil_spill

For some reason like Coronavirus, this consumed me...
Sure Coronavirus has a direct impact on everyone, so that's why it consumes me and everyone..We all gotta wear a mask, grocery shortages, everything closed, only go to the store every two weeks and it just seem like every day chores are a PITA nowadays..

.But at the time, this oil spill consumed me......for two long months...

I can't imagine being a precinct chair in Iowa!!!

Having to herd cats!!!

I'm one in Texas, but we have a senate convention. Our senate district consists of about 200,000 voters. I think about 500 people might show up to the convention, but we have our TDP reps who are chairing the convention and us underlings will deal with credentials, rules (the hardest part), allocation of delegates (I'm kinda on that committee because I'm doing credentials) and resolutions.

I can't imagine doing a caucus myself and then have to do the top three thing...etc. At least at the senate convention, it's held 3 weeks after the primary, so it's mostly a matter of determining who gets to be a delegate etc

It's D-Day For Doomsday Mom Lori Vallow to Produce Missing Kids

This case is so cray-cray you need flowcharts to follow the cast of characters.
July 2019 Lori's husband is murdered by her brother in her AZ home. Lori caught on police cam flirting and smiling. No tears nothing.
She moves to ID.
Kids disappear Sept 23
She marries Chad Daybell, a mormon doomsday prophet whose wife died in October.
Nov 26, Welfare check on kids in ID. Lori says they are in AZ. They are not in AZ
Lori and Chad disappear, Nov 27
Lori and Chad located at resort in Hawaii...no kids...issued subpeona to produce kids. Jan 25

In the six weeks since Idaho police announced that Tylee and J.J. Vallow were missing, the investigation into the siblings’ disappearance has taken more turns than one of their stepfather’s Mormon apocalypse novels.

And there’s likely to be another one Thursday—the court-ordered deadline for their mother, Lori Vallow, to produce them or face a contempt of court charge and possible arrest and extradition from Hawaii.

That’s where she and husband Chad Daybell have been holed up since cops started looking into the whereabouts of their children, the deaths of their previous spouses, and other bizarre incidents connected to the couple.

Last weekend, police on the island of Kauai served Vallow with a court order signed by an Idaho judge, giving her five days to turn up with 17-year-old Tylee and 7-year-old J.J., who was adopted and is autistic.

53% of Bernie supporters will vote for nominee. My son says Biden is just like a Republican.

Not this again!! Not another 2016!!

First of all, my son posted a clip of Biden from 1995 where he is supporting the balanced budget amendment. Biden states he will cut Social Security and Medicare to balance the budget. Son shared it on FB, so he got it from someone, so it's making the rounds. I found the clip on YouTube.

Then I saw this article:

https://www.newsweek.com/bernie-sanders-poll-warren-biden-2020-nominee-emerson-college-1483831

Only a small majority of Bernie Sanders voters say they will definitely support the eventual Democratic nominee at the 2020 election if the independent Vermont senator does not win the race, according to a poll.

The National Emerson College Poll of 1,128 registered voters between January 21 and January 23 found that 53 percent of Sanders supporters said "yes" when asked if they would support the Democratic nominee even if it is not their candidate.

Another 31 percent of Sanders supporters said it depends on who the nominee is and 16 percent flat-out said no. The poll, conducted via landline calls and an online panel, has a 2.8 percentage point margin of error.

The poll suggests some Sanders supporters are out of step with their own chosen candidate on the question of supporting the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is.

McCarthy
Power Feeds on Fear
Film Description

McCarthy chronicles the rise and fall of Joseph McCarthy, the Wisconsin senator who came to power after a stunning victory in an election no one thought he could win. Once in office, he declared that there was a vast conspiracy threatening America — emanating not from a rival superpower, but from within. Free of restraint or oversight, he conducted a crusade against those he accused of being enemies of the state, a chilling campaign marked by groundless accusations, bullying intimidation, grandiose showmanship and cruel victimization. With lawyer Roy Cohn at his side, he belittled critics, spinning a web of lies and distortions while spreading fear and confusion. After years in the headlines, he was brought down by his own excesses and overreach. But his name lives on linked to the modern-day witch hunt we call “McCarthyism.”

Sledding near Boulder

Going to be traveling to Boulder with family and my little grandson. (1.5 years old and never seen snow)
Looks like Boulder probably won't have snow. Is there sledding near Boulder?

Son and DIL will be taking the shuttle to Eldora to ski. But it seems like Eldora is a bit too much just to take my grandson sledding. He will probably enjoy sledding for a half hour or so.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know why I'm on their lists...I think it was when a bunch of us got together and spammed their online surveys..
