About Me

Always a Democrat. I can't understand conservatives. I try to understand them, but I can't. They don't make sense. Our country has gone so far right since 1981. I was just an average American who took many Democratic values for granted when Reagan was elected. It was like the rug was pulled out from under our society. Reagan ruined our country.

quarantine life

Today marks about 6 weeks of quarantine. Iíve been running 2.5 miles everyday, drinking 2 gallons of water. I cut out ALL meat, sugar, dairy and flour. I feel fantastic! Zero alcohol, a healthy vegan diet, gluten free, caffeine free, sugar free and a 30 minute home workout each day.

I have no idea whose post this is, but it said copy & paste it as my status. So I did.

Probably funnier when people know the real you! I found this on Facebook

How does India, a country of 1.3 billion people, have around 1,000 coronavirus deaths?

Very interesting article. It sounds like things are really working in India. Well, you know how they always say negative things about India? Take this all the way to the bank Trump!

(In India only 4% of tests are positive. There is no general increase in deaths from nonspecific causes. The United States is average 17% positive.)

As of Tuesday, India had reported 31,360 coronavirus cases and 1,008 deaths, or about 0.76 deaths per million. Compare that to the United States, where the number of deaths per million is more than 175.

Some experts say that India's relatively positive numbers suggest the country's nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of Covid-19 could be working -- for now."India didn't wait for the problem to escalate," India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on April 14, as he extended the country's 21-day nationwide lockdown until May 3. "Instead, as soon as the problem appeared, we tried to stop it by making swift decisions. I can't imagine what the situation would have been had such quick decisions not been taken."

But the reality behind India's numbers is more complicated -- and experts caution that it is too early for India to congratulate itself.
"At least in this round, it appears that the virus has not been able to damage as much as been feared," Srinath Reddy, the president of the Public Health Foundation of India, a non-profit that works on training, research and policy development. "I don't think we can say that we have completely closed the book on this."

Hotel bedbugs face severe food shortage

?w=700&ssl=1

Hotel occupancy rates have dropped by 50% to 80% around the country. Many hotels have shut down completely during the pandemic. This is bad news not only for hoteliers but for bedbugs, which depend on a human blood to stay alive. According to the travel website Your Mileage May Vary, young bedbugs start to die off if they don't eat in 20 days. Older bedbugs can survive between 2 to 3 months, and in some cases up to six months. If hotels stay closed longer than six months it will be the most expensive bedbug eradication procedure in history.

Some malls/stores are opening for retail-to-go Friday. Here's how it will work.

Sorry about the local article(s), but I assume this is how it will work throughout the state:

Under state guidelines, customers canít go inside stores and employees must be screened for COVID-19, wear face coverings and stay at least 6 feet apart. Payments should be made online or over the phone.

When customers drive up for an order, employees should put their items in the backseat or trunk to minimize contact, and wash or sanitize their hands and any items a customer touched afterward.

As for delivery, items should be dropped off on a customerís doorstep by an employee or third-party carrier, who should not go inside the patronís house or business, the guidelines state.

Two San Antonio malls are preparing to offer to-go services Friday after shuttering amid the coronavirus pandemic.

North Star Mall and The Shops at La Cantera will be open for curbside service, according to Rachel Wille, a representative for Brookfield Properties.

The company will post a list of participating retailers on each mall's website before the properties open at 11 a.m.

After coronavirus shut down malls, five in the Houston area are preparing to offer to-go services from select retailers in each mall starting April 24.

Brookfield Properties is opening its five malls in the Houston area, which includes Baybrook Mall, Deerbrook Mall, First Colony Mall, Willowbrook Mall and The Woodlands.

The company is still finalizing which retailers will participate in the to-go program, but will release more information on each mall's site as it becomes available, according to Rachel Wille, a representative for Brookfield Properties.

As an aside, I purchased curbside from Kohl's a few weeks ago. The store was closed. Also at that time, Sally's Beauty was also closed, but some locations offered curbside.

Is this rural community really Texas' sickest county?

Itís impossible to know for sure how the new coronavirus got to rural Donley County, but locals bet it took U.S. Route 287, like everything else.

The highway carries 14,000 cars through on a normal day, about four for each of the 3,387 people living in the perfectly rectangular county near the Oklahoma side of the Texas Panhandle. Drivers stop at the Allsupís or Cornellís Country Store as they blaze from Dallas toward Denver or back again.

When known coronavirus cases are mapped for each of Texasí 254 counties, Donley County looks like a sickly glitch, an outlier: It was reporting nearly 7 cases for every 1,000 people as of Sunday. The stateís next-highest known rate of infection was under 5 per 1,000, also in a Panhandle county; in Dallas, that figure was less than 1 per 1,000.

But the statistical aberration may better reflect Texasí limited coronavirus testing than Donley Countyís poor health.

It's been 10 years....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepwater_Horizon_oil_spill

For some reason like Coronavirus, this consumed me...
Sure Coronavirus has a direct impact on everyone, so that's why it consumes me and everyone..We all gotta wear a mask, grocery shortages, everything closed, only go to the store every two weeks and it just seem like every day chores are a PITA nowadays..

.But at the time, this oil spill consumed me......for two long months...

I can't imagine being a precinct chair in Iowa!!!

Having to herd cats!!!

I'm one in Texas, but we have a senate convention. Our senate district consists of about 200,000 voters. I think about 500 people might show up to the convention, but we have our TDP reps who are chairing the convention and us underlings will deal with credentials, rules (the hardest part), allocation of delegates (I'm kinda on that committee because I'm doing credentials) and resolutions.

I can't imagine doing a caucus myself and then have to do the top three thing...etc. At least at the senate convention, it's held 3 weeks after the primary, so it's mostly a matter of determining who gets to be a delegate etc

It's D-Day For Doomsday Mom Lori Vallow to Produce Missing Kids

This case is so cray-cray you need flowcharts to follow the cast of characters.
July 2019 Lori's husband is murdered by her brother in her AZ home. Lori caught on police cam flirting and smiling. No tears nothing.
She moves to ID.
Kids disappear Sept 23
She marries Chad Daybell, a mormon doomsday prophet whose wife died in October.
Nov 26, Welfare check on kids in ID. Lori says they are in AZ. They are not in AZ
Lori and Chad disappear, Nov 27
Lori and Chad located at resort in Hawaii...no kids...issued subpeona to produce kids. Jan 25

In the six weeks since Idaho police announced that Tylee and J.J. Vallow were missing, the investigation into the siblingsí disappearance has taken more turns than one of their stepfatherís Mormon apocalypse novels.

And thereís likely to be another one Thursdayóthe court-ordered deadline for their mother, Lori Vallow, to produce them or face a contempt of court charge and possible arrest and extradition from Hawaii.

Thatís where she and husband Chad Daybell have been holed up since cops started looking into the whereabouts of their children, the deaths of their previous spouses, and other bizarre incidents connected to the couple.

Last weekend, police on the island of Kauai served Vallow with a court order signed by an Idaho judge, giving her five days to turn up with 17-year-old Tylee and 7-year-old J.J., who was adopted and is autistic.

53% of Bernie supporters will vote for nominee. My son says Biden is just like a Republican.

Not this again!! Not another 2016!!

First of all, my son posted a clip of Biden from 1995 where he is supporting the balanced budget amendment. Biden states he will cut Social Security and Medicare to balance the budget. Son shared it on FB, so he got it from someone, so it's making the rounds. I found the clip on YouTube.

Then I saw this article:

https://www.newsweek.com/bernie-sanders-poll-warren-biden-2020-nominee-emerson-college-1483831

Only a small majority of Bernie Sanders voters say they will definitely support the eventual Democratic nominee at the 2020 election if the independent Vermont senator does not win the race, according to a poll.

The National Emerson College Poll of 1,128 registered voters between January 21 and January 23 found that 53 percent of Sanders supporters said "yes" when asked if they would support the Democratic nominee even if it is not their candidate.

Another 31 percent of Sanders supporters said it depends on who the nominee is and 16 percent flat-out said no. The poll, conducted via landline calls and an online panel, has a 2.8 percentage point margin of error.

The poll suggests some Sanders supporters are out of step with their own chosen candidate on the question of supporting the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is.
