The search for Brian Laundrie has got a new pro on the case

NORTH PORT, Fla. - Television's Dog the Bounty Hunter is joining the search for Brian Laundrie, the only person wanted in connection with Gabby Petito's disappearance. Saturday afternoon, the reality star was seen banging on the screen door of the North Port home Brian shares with his parents.

The family did not answer and Duane "Dog" Chapman, along with his wife, left the home after a few minutes. Police were seen shortly afterward entering the Laundrie home and exiting within moments.

Chapman was already in Florida on a honeymoon with his wife Francie, he told FOX News, when people began reaching out to him to look into Laundrie’s disappearance.

"We had a lot of requests that I get in on this," he said. "This is what I do for a living, for 45 years."

Texas Senate opens redistricting debate with proposed map one senator labels “intentional discrimination”

The first draft of the Senate map was authored by a Republican who chairs the Senate redistricting committee. It immediately drew fire from a Democratic member who said her district was being redrawn to dilute voting power of people of color.

The Texas Senate kicked off the decennial redistricting process on Saturday, releasing the first draft of its own members’ district maps which shore up the strength of the Republican majority.

On Monday, the Texas Legislature meets for a 30-day special session dedicated to redrawing political maps based on the latest census data, which showed people of color fueled 95% of Texas’ population growth over the past decade.

The Legislature is tasked with setting new boundaries for House and Senate districts in addition to redrawing new district maps for the state’s congressional seats and for the State Board of Education. Republicans hold majorities in both chambers and will have every advantage as they use the process to position their party for the next decade as the state population becomes younger and more diverse.

Blue cities/states need to do this Texas snitch thing with mask mandates...Seriously!!!!

Texas started their snitch thing in a tiny town in called Waskom in 2019. The town was so small and had no abortion facilities. It was mostly symbolic. In 2020 Lubbock caught on and created a snitch ordinance for Planned Parenthood over there. Planned Parenthood in Lubbock closed shop.

Blue states can get a municipality to do a mask snitch ordinance.
Governors can write an executive order to create snitch law

The beauty about mask ordinances is that they are temporary (Once Covid is over, the experiment is over)...Lots of people violate mask ordinances, so there will be lots of lawsuits...

Seattle? Portland? San Francisco? NYC? Anywhere?? Please!!!

Texas’ abortion law S.B. 8 follows a model first used in Waskom to ban abortion within its boundaries in 2019. The novel legal approach used by the city on Texas’ border with Louisiana is one envisioned by a former top lawyer for the state.

Right to Life East Texas director Mark Lee Dickson, 36, a Southern Baptist minister, championed Waskom’s abortion ban. Through his state senator, Bryan Hughes, he met Jonathan F. Mitchell, a former top lawyer for the state of Texas. Mitchell became his attorney and advised him on crafting the ordinance, Dickson said in an interview.

The ordinance shields Waskom from lawsuits by saying city officials can’t enforce the abortion ban. Instead, private citizens can sue anyone who performs an abortion in the city or assists someone in obtaining one. The law was largely symbolic, however, because the city did not have a clinic performing abortions.

Nearly three dozen other cities in the state followed Waskom’s lead. Among them is Lubbock, where a Planned Parenthood clinic stopped performing abortions this year as a result.

I'm involved with Democratic politics down here in South Texas

Here are a few facts:

Generalizations..(We have our progressives, but I'm describing the majority of Democrats)

Democrats here tend to be somewhat socially conservative
They are even more conservative in the Rio Grande Valley..(Henry Cuellar)
Democrats are overwhelmingly Latino or African American.
Most of my friends go to church every week...I'm the lazy hold out
We don't discuss reproductive rights because other issues are more important
Latinos are majority Catholic and even among Democrats abortion or abortion rights is not something they feel comfortable discussing.

Of course they are upset about SB 8, because it is so horrendous...But the majority of reproductive limitations in the past do not appear to have angered them to the point that it flips elections.

Sen Eddio Lucio Jr (D- Brownsville) voted for the anti-abortion bill.

Then we have our Progressive voters

They tend to be white...
Democrats who are involved with Planned Parenthood tend to be white and tend to have more money.
However, white Democrats are the minority here...

Based on this, the Republicans feel that there will not be a huge rebellion in Texas....

About LeftInTX

Always a Democrat. I can't understand conservatives. I try to understand them, but I can't. They don't make sense. Our country has gone so far right since 1981. I was just an average American who took many Democratic values for granted when Reagan was elected. It was like the rug was pulled out from under our society. Reagan ruined our country.
