No Vested Interest
No Vested Interest's JournalNancy Pelosi is a teetotaler, so she wasn't "drinking" with Boehner.
Boehner may have been drinking and Nancy may have been present.
Boehner is from a family of bar owners - nothing wrong with that.
He obviously was around drinkers and too-much-drinkers all his life.
Racism is a huge problem, very complicated and inbedded in many cultures.
I'm aware of it now and in the past in UK. The British have been brutal throughout their history.
I am of Irish descent and aware of past British racism, involved inextricably with their colonialism, and it continues to this day.
You may watch all you want of Harry, his wife, children, aunts, uncles, father, brother, etc.
I choose to spend my life otherwise.
Not interested in any British "royalty."
Families must be involved with the care of their elderly, whether in their own homes or
in nursing homes.
Make sure the elders have phones to alert families when there is a special need.
Check in daily with the elder when possible; ask questions re their meals, medicine prescribed and given, routine bathing, care of any open sore or wounds.
Get to know the staff, to know what care can be expected of them.
Care of elderly is hard and often difficult work; not all caregivers are suited psychologically for the tasks.
Many do not have the maturity and patience necessary to deal with elders.
Good question, relayerbob. I seriously wonder about the DUers that feel a need
to come to the site and beat up on ideas that they must realize are important to many other DUers.
Many wonderful people here, but some I know I would not enjoy their company.
Rehabilitation - Work for a charity for little or no compensation for a year or several...
Get back to us when you can tell the tales of the needy you've served and helped.
Blessed Miguel Pro, a Mexican Jesuit priest, executed 95 years ago today
by a Mexican firing squad on false charges of bombing and attempted assassination of a former Mexican President; he was 36 years old.
Stretching out his arms, he said his last words "Viva Christo Rey" - as he was shot.
Known for his religious piety and innocence, he was beatified in Rome in 1988 by Pope John Paul II as a Catholic martyr, killed in odium fidei (in hatred of the faith.)
Thanks for your thoughts and input, LT. So much to ponder.
I'll think on this and get back to you.
Thanks for your perspective.
You raise some angles that need further pursuing. Quality of life is important, but obviously, this behavior cannot continue.
Her care at the facility is more of a caretaker, providing prescribed meds and meals & bed, etc.; we (family) have arranged for outside medical care at our nearby fine university medical center, but, as all are aware, mental health care is hard to come by. She has Medicare medical, but medicaid for facility care, plus extras that the family provides.
Facility care is okay - some days better than others, some caregivers good, others not so much.
I am POA, but aging; siblings (2) nearby are willing to help up to a point, then disgusted or irked. They will have to take over eventually.
Likely. I've just sent a note to her psych doctor & team.
I'm thinking Police Depts. must have a protocol for this problem.
Surely it happens with others.
Perhaps a family member should go in to Police Dept. & see what they recommend (and to apologize.) Perhaps she should go in as well.
