There is a decided lack of enthusiasm for FitzGerald's campaign

and, as you say, we need ad strong turnout of Democrats, not only for governor, but for all the down ballot candidates, and there are some good ones.
David Pepper vs Mike DeWine - Pepper - or most anyone- would be better than DeWine.
Connie Pillich is another from SW Ohio, who has a good resume, - military veteran, lawyer, mother, etc. I can't recall her opponent, but know that Connie would be better.

I understand that FitzGerald's funds are being diverted to the Democratic slate in general, so, perhaps we won't be hearing many ads.
It's too bad the Dems have a problem attracting top-notch candidates for the top slots in Ohio, for many of their down-ballot candidates are quite good and deserve to win.

Than goodness Richard Cordrey wound up in a good position in the President's administration.

Ohio University in Athens will be starting another schoolyear shortly;

perhaps as parents drop off their students, they can be made aware of the need in this nearby town.

Volunteers could solicit small donations, and maybe it will be enough to add up, plus planting the seed of awareness in those visitors and newcomers to the area.

My orthopedist was a strong evangelical who sometimes expressed his religiosity during

office visits. This is in SW Ohio, where strong evangelicals are not usually found among sophisticated, highly-educated professionals.
At the time, he was among the leading orthopedists in the area and his patients just acknowledged that his religiosity was just part of the big picture when one selected him as their physician.

Now, I am a life-long practicing Catholic who would rather have had my kind of prayers before knee replacement surgery, if there was going to be any kind of supplication to the Deity. Knowing the good doctor would be praying over me, I brought along a small vial of water from Lourdes to sprinkle on him, on me, or anywhere else as the situation might require. Well, the situation did not require use of the Lourdes water, the surgery was a success, and, luckily for me, there was no music in the operating room that I recall.

It's true tht some days can be worse than others.

Since you know your brother is under stress himself, it might help to let him know that you're aware of inconvenience to him and that you truly appreciate his helping you at this time. And that you hope to be of assistance to him in his need.

You don't have to grovel. You are a most decent person and a person of value.
We here on DU are glad for what you share with us, personal or political.
We benefit from your presence among us.

Stay strong. Stay well.

So glad for you that it's over and that all went well.

Everyone says it's a piece of cake, and you've verified that.
Oddly enough, it all the post-op drops that give me pause, as I anticipate the same surgery in the near future.

Check in again with us, please, as you progress post-op.

Raymond has a perpetual smirk.

Perhaps the poor guy can't help his looks, but I can zap that channel very quickly when he appears.

Growth in the stock market is good for those with state-funded pensions and those with Roth

and other IRAs.

Large state-operated pension systems are among the largest holders of stocks and mutual funds.
These pensioners are among what remains of the middle class, and many states are trying to downgrade or eliminate state pensions.

The details of Mitch's speech need to be in the Louisville Courier-Journal, newspapers in Lexington,

Frankfort, Paducah, Maysville, and every small town in Kentucky.

It's the voters in Kentucky who are too long used to voting against their own interest, and who follow the orders of their ministers when voting that need to see and hear this.
