Worry is usually nonproductive.
Sometimes prayer also appears unproductive, but I believe it's at least better for the person than worrying.

Most priests, especially parish priests, are not of the "suffering" kind.

I say that not unkindly.
Most priests today are in the world and know enough of current culture to realize that those Catholics with whom they interact would not heed the call to prolong suffering of a family member.
I myself am not a "suffering" Catholic; I choose to be a joyful Catholic, looking for the beauty in each day, and trying to make each day "productive", and, when that doesn't work, at try to not be burdensome to those around me.

I personally find the idea of looking to suffer, either for our own sins, or those of others, or even in union with Christ's suffering, rather offputting, but that's just my opinion.

I hope and believe that Mother Angelica has found the Joy and Peace which she has earned.

The first anniversary is the hardest.

Beyond the first anniversary, one can say to oneself -"Well, I got through (that day- birthday, holiday, anniversary-) once and will do so again on subsequent reminder days."

There is no right or wrong way for each person mark these days. The heart knows best.

perhaps this brouhaha is the reason Kasich is hanging on.

Many/most women past 50 might not know the various ranks in the military,

as it was less common for women to serve in that period.
I only knew 1 of the five shown.

EWTN has been showing episodes of Mother Angelica's programs

filmed in the 1990's for many years.

There are some very interesting programs and some very bad programs on EWTN.
Like every other tv network, a remote control can be used whenever the program content is not to one's liking.

I enjoyed the network in its early years, and certain programs even later,

but seldom turn EWTN on these days, due to conservative bias of its current events programming.

Not sure exactly what happened, but at one time Mother Angelica wore a "modern" habit, then she reverted to the "old-style" habit. Whatever changed that thinking, apparently changed the whole tenor of programming and thinking at EWTN.

Nonetheless, Mother Angelica was a pioneer, and may she have eternal rest in peace.

The Hospital where she was treated initiated a request for Medicaid to supplement

her Medicare. - I guess that's their way to be paid after her Medicare time is used up.
I am able to assist in paying some of her bills as they accumulate, though we all know medical bills can blow up in the wink of an eye.
I'm trying to be careful not to be listed as her responsible financial party for that reason.
She was having a visiting nurse and therapies through Medicare for her diabetes and edema when the ketoacidosis set in and she was hospitalized, where the stroke occurred.

I guess we're so lucky to live in an age where software for so many problems has been produced.
She hasn't had a computer of her own, but I have a tablet I've never used, and it can surely be hers in this time of need.

I treasure your encouragement as well as PADem's suggestion of music, especially Mozart, as aides for returning her language usage.
