Inasmuch as 30 people will be there, some will not be much interested in politics.
Make your way around the group.
When the subject gets testy, move on to someone who is not getting much attention, and find out what is going on in his/her life.
The day will go quickly, and before you know it, it will be time to go home.
Family is family; life is too short to let open divisions come between family members.
Have to keep self calm, as "things to be done" list looms large,
with not enough progress made and days flying by.
I've begun delegating certain tasks where possible, but still feel the need to oversee the situation.
I like " I'll Be Home for Christmas" nostalgic, written during WWII
when so many servicemen wouldn't be home, with family and loved ones, at Christmas.
Folks, we need to pray for our country.
We've likely got a rough ride ahead.
I'm not going to suggest a specific prayer or even a specific outcome.
Just that we have the strength and will to deal with whatever comes our way, individually and as a nation, without losing our way in anger or hopelessness.
Find support in your church or place of worship and try to support and build each other up.

Better to emotionally divorce yourself from current American politics for the time being.
Enough current events will seep through so that you'll have an overview of what's going on.
