He must travel frequently for book interviews, etc.
His appearance on CSPAN's book talk, with Brian Lamb, from Sept. 2016 and rebroadcast a month or so ago was most interesting.
Patrick Kelly from Ireland. (Kelly is the second most popular/common name in Ireland.)
And Patrick is likely more common than John, as St. Patrick is the patron saint of the isle.
You might say "Kelly" is the "Jones" of Ireland.
Not sure why Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is "slightly Democratic".
Josh Mandel (R) is his likely opponent, and not at all an attractive opponent. Shallow and callow.
Brown should show him up quickly and easily in any one-on-one debate.
I believe he is the best entry among the Democrats for governor, and as of now
He has my support.
My concern is that he is apparently not a speaker who will fire up enthusiasm in a crowd.
Perhaps he can pick up some stump tricks from those Dems who do it so well.
Extreme gerrymandering has made the seats difficult to crack.
Ex. OH-1- Instead of making most of Hamilton County the entirety of the district, OH Repubs. split Hamilton County and reached northeast to include Warren County, a suburban/exurban county Northeast of Hamilton Co.
Not to worry, Richard Cordrey has announced his resignation from office in D.C.
to return to Ohio, where he's expected to run for governor.
There are also several other good but not-as-well-known-statewide candidates who have already announced, including former Congresswoman Betty Sutton, gerrymandered out of her Congressional seat along Lake Erie.
O'Neill will not be missed.
Yes and no.
I realized at about 70 that if I were in an accident - automotive or otherwise- that a newspaper article would describe me as "elderly".
I also think about how I perceived my grandparents and their generation when I was a young adult - 20ish. - To me they were old, though still functional, etc.
On the other hand, many, if not most, at 70 can handle their lives well.
70 is certainly better than 80, for sure.
At 70, and throughout the 70's, one can still look forward to many good times and good days.
Warren County has been gerrymandered to give Steve Chabot (R) a safe seat in Congress,
whereas his home county- Hamilton county, including most of Dem.-leaning Cincinnati- is not sufficient for him to win as a Republican.
John Boehner, former speaker, represented Warren Co. Ohio, for many years.
I would never want to be in his company nor would he be welcome in my home.
I try to have as little exposure to his words and actions as possible.
The night it was obvious that he would be the next president I resolved to not let him ruin my pleasure and joy in life.
He is the complete opposite of my kind, polite spouse, who never bragged about his accomplishments nor felt the need to build himself up, nor resorted name-calling.
I get news of his actions and words by reading and hearing them second-hand, for the most part. Thus I can be informed of current affairs without having to be disgusted or repulsed by viewing this person who projects himself upon the universe hour by hour.
Great harm is being done every day by this person, and I fear that much of it is not reversible.
The optimist in me hopes that his tenure will be short- one way or another- and that we can once again live in normality.
John Cranley re-elected Mayor of Cincinnati, defeating Councilmember Yvette Simpson.
Both candidates are Democrats.
Approximately 60,000 votes were cast for the office of mayor, splitting 53% for Cranley, 46% for Simpson.
