Megachurch and Measles Outbreak

snip:
"A Texas megachurch whose leaders have linked vaccines to autism is now asking its members to get immunizations or stay quarantined after an outbreak of measles was traced to the congregation."

Dang science and medicine--connecting the measle dots, at last.

A Courageous Person...

snip:

A courageous school employee averted disaster on Tuesday by calmly talking down a man armed with an assault rifle who said that he has going to die and take as many others as possible with him. According to ABC News, Antoinette Tuff, the bookkeeper at the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Center, convinced 20-year-old gunman Michael Brandon Hill to empty his pockets and backpack of ammunition and lie down on the floor so that police could take him into custody without incident.

Can't stand Roberts

Let's see, according to Roberts, because minority voting is up in states previously sanctioned by Section 4 and 5 of the VRA it is now time to to toss the issue back to Congress for a redo (which won't happen).

According to Robert's logic airbags and seat belts should not be installed in vehicles because far too many people have been saved by them and big auto companies should not be required to install them anymore. It is a burden you know.

The true Rethug logic here is they will use the Supreme Court as the last ditch obstacle to prevent the changing demographics of our country from swinging elections to Democrats and away from the Teabaggers.

Bush V. Gore was the early roll out of this strategy.

Life in the AZ Zombie Land of Arpaio

http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/31/justice/mexico-american-freed

Arizona woman apparently arrested unjustly in Mexico is released from prison after thunderous outrage from Arizona politicians (Flake, Brewer, etc.)

She know returns to Maricopa County where, if she is stopped and detained unjustly because of her name or skin color, the politicians reaction will be....

crickets.

Grassley says Obama is attempting to "pack" the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/28/obama-court-packing_n_3347961.html

snip:

But not only is Obama not "court-packing" -- a term describing an attempt to add judges to a court with the goal of shifting the balance, not filling existing vacancies...

Filling existing vacancies. Not adding seats to the court.

In other news, Senator Grassley stated putting eight hot dog buns in a package was packing the wrapper.

Virginia wants to track miscarriages

http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/virginia-wingnuts-who-want-miscarriag

snip:

If a woman in Virginia has a miscarriage without a doctor present, they must report it within 24 hours to the police or risk going to jail for a full year. At least, that’s what would have happened if a bill introduced by Virginia state Sen. Mark Obenshain (R) had become law

Looks like more female outreach by the Rethugs. What a bunch of flaming asshats.

Rancid Paul bloviating about secret memo, wait maybe, no memo

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/rand-paul-claims-damning-irs-memo-exists

snip:

When CNN anchor Candy Crowley pressed Paul for details, the junior Kentucky senator revealed that he had only heard about the memo.

In related news, I have heard that Paul is a low-life, scumbag dedicated to de-funding the government and enriching the already rich. No memo needed.

Arrest of corporate thug--no, not here

The fugitive owner of an illegally-constructed building that collapsed in Bangladesh in a deadly heap last week was captured Sunday at a border crossing with India by members of a commando force.

snip:
“Fast forward to 2007, and Philip Perry — again, Dick Cheney’s son-in-law — is at the Department of Homeland Security as general counsel. What he managed to do in an appropriations rider is slip in industry friendly language into the bill that moves the task of regulating chemical plants from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Department of Homeland Security. But DHS is given none of the tools it would need to do that.”

Don't know where Cheney's son-in-law is today. You can be sure however, he is not running for the border afraid that he will be held accountable for his vile actions.

Anti-intellectualism, the way of the rethugs

Being anti-fact is nothing new for the teabag and rethug set in our country.

snip:

“Chances are, if you are one of those corporate media-following bone heads who still believe that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, or Saddam Hussein blew up the Twin Towers, or Obama is a secret Muslim, or Obama wants to take your guns, or Obama has FEMA prison camps set up for Teabag Republicans, then search no further,” said Papantonio, who is also president of the National Trial Lawyer Association. “You truly are the undereducated, child-like, impressionable, irrational, dangerous cog in America’s political system that puts Democracy most at risk.”

Should have had these words inscribed on the front of Shrub's libery.
