Babe Ruth

Many folks don't know he pitched perhaps the greatest WS game in history in 1916. He pitched a 14 inning gem and won 2-1. It was his first postseason start. 10 years later in the WS he was the 1st player to hit 3 HRS.

Other fascinating fact. He was the 1st player to hit 3 HRS in a regular season game in both leagues.

Still the greatest ever.

Nuclear War: A Scenario

Annie Jacobsen.

Would give S. King nightmares. However, it's incredibly informative about the threat of nuclear proliferation.

I am in sympathy

with the MAGA flag protest policy. In honor of this, I will purchase and fly upside down a Burgerking flag. Maybe two. Make it a double protest burger.

Lettuce unreason together.

Hello New York Group

I just wanted to get some advice from the group. I am bringing my 14 year old granddaughter to Manhattan in July to show her the wonderful city. I am pretty familiar with NYC having been many times. But what I don't know is the best things to show a 14 year old girl. Any pointers you might have for a person of her age would be great. Maybe you have daughters or granddaughters who know the City.

She loves vegetarian food and vintage clothing shops. Any hidden treasures about the City you know would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all.

I wanted to take a moment and

say a heart felt thanks to the DU community for their kind words. Seeing all the gracious and welcoming comments made my day way better.

One aspect of our relationship was she a little order than me an consequently saw many great bands and singers. For example, she saw Joplin, Dylan, the Doors and many more. I used to say I saw all those guys too.

She said Cover Bands don't count.

She also saw the Beatles. In honor of them, and her, and the community I leave you with the song that concluded her ceremony last year.

Thank you DU community.

My wife's death. First time I'm posting.

My wife died on 10 June last year. I haven't posted about it till now. I guess because it's the anniversary month. A horrible 31 month battle with gastric cancer. I lay beside her for 10 days in Hospice Care. We were married 40 years.

The only thing I've learned is that I used to say I wish I would have gone first. Don't be the one left.

Now, I say I'm glad I didn’t go 1st. There is no chance in hell I would have wanted her to experience the last 12 months.

I want to thank the DU community because it has been the primary source of connection for me during this year. And remains so today.

Peace and strength to all those who are grieving.
