kairos12's JournalBurns' PBS Special on FDR
There was a part in the special I was watching last night where a worker was quoted as saying he liked FDR because he was the only President who understood his was boss was an SOB.
FDR. A great man.
Code Pink: "We need Smart Senators, not Smart Bombs."
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/09/code-pink-heckles-john-mccains-war-talk-you-have-no-authority-on-this-issue/snip:
Protesters from the group Code Pink repeatedly interrupted Senate hearings on military action the U.S. is taking against ISIS, an army of Islamic radicals in Iraq.
At a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Tuesday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel was thanking the committee for their support when Code Pink protester Medea Benjamin stood up with a large pink sign reading More War = More Extremism.
Unfortunately, the one percent's military industrial complex is designed to produce dumb senators and smart bombs. Not to mention astronomical profits.
Lasting Obama Legacy in the Courts
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/14/us/politics/building-legacy-obama-reshapes-appellate-bench.html?_r=0snip:
WASHINGTON Democrats have reversed the partisan imbalance on the federal appeals courts that long favored conservatives, a little-noticed shift with far-reaching consequences for the law and President Obamas legacy.
For the first time in more than a decade, judges appointed by Democratic presidents considerably outnumber judges appointed by Republican presidents. The Democrats advantage has only grown since late last year when they stripped Republicans of their ability to filibuster the presidents nominees.
Democratic appointees who hear cases full time now hold a majority of seats on nine of the 13 United States Courts of Appeals. When Mr. Obama took office, only one of those courts had more full-time judges nominated by a Democrat.
Good news that is little known.
What's all this fuss I'm hearing about
women wearing yogurt pants. Can't they wear regular pants or a dress. It seems like wearing a dairy product all day would be hard to accessorize.
Excuse me, but that's Yoga pants, not Yogurt Pants. Yoga pants.
Never mind.
Thank you Gilda/Emily.
Toad's Likely Questions for the President Tomorrow on MTB
I wonder if Toad will toss to the President the same softball questions he always pitches Graham, McGrumpy, and the rest of the Rethugs. Unlikely. A few sample questions for your viewing retching:
Why have you let all of President Bush's gains in Iraq be lost?
Are you going to shut down the government this September like you did last year?
When are you going to meet Senator Cruz half-way on his serious proposals?
Can you take responsibility for the tone of politics today in Washington?
Why is everything about race with you?
Will you reimburse the taxpayer for your extensive golf outings?
Doesn't Benghazi sum up your foreign policy?
When do we see the "real" birth certificate?
Lott and Breaux--Putin's Lobbyists
http://www.publicintegrity.org/2014/09/02/15450/russian-bank-hires-two-former-us-senatorssnip:
Gazprombank GPB (OJSC), a Russian bank targeted with sanctions by President Obama over the Ukraine crisis, has hired two former U.S. senators to lobby against those sanctions, according to a new disclosure filed with the Senate.
Don't see much of this story in the media. I seem to recall Lott being one of those clowns calling out the Dixie Chicks back during .
Idiot Pundits Promoted--What a Surprise
http://www.salon.com/2014/09/05/stop_promoting_idiot_pundits_nbc_revamps_meet_the_press_with_always_wrong_joe_scarborough_and_luke_meritocracy_russert/When NBC finally removed David Gregory as moderator of Meet the Press and installed Chuck Todd in his place, the network conducted a self-examination to try to figure out why its once-proud Sunday morning news program had become a barely watched joke. The diagnosis? A lack of insider cred.
I stopped watching the Sunday Morning rethug regurgitation fests two years ago. The promotion of these idiots just proves that the bottom of the media cesspool has yet to be reached. Toad and Scaborough with a side order of Smarmy fratboy Russert on Sunday morning, that is a guaranteed shoe through the TV. I will continue to pass.
Rmoney Says Make The Military Mighty
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/mitt-romney-the-world-needs-a-mighty-us-military/2014/09/04/f5234064-342d-11e4-a723-fa3895a25d02_story.htmlRussia invades, China bullies, Iran spins centrifuges, the Islamic State (a terrorist threat beyond anything that weve seen, according to the defense secretary ) threatens and Washington slashes the military. Reason stares.
Does that mean any of Rmoney's 5 sons are signing up to make the military mighty?
No, I think they will be building a perimeter around their dad's private underground garage.
One percent priorities. Make the world safe for their Mercedes.
