Niagara's JournalMoscow Mitch Received Donations from Voting Machine Lobbyists Before Blocking Dem Voting Bills
McConnell said he wouldn't allow a vote on the bills because they were "so partisan," but, as previously reported, earlier this year McConnell received a slew of donations from four of the top voting machine lobbyists in the country.
"Clearly this request is not a serious effort to make a law. Clearly something so partisan that it only received one single solitary Republican vote in the House is not going to travel through the Senate by unanimous consent," said McConnell on the Senate floor.
The plans would likely burden the two largest electronic voting machine vendors in the United States, Election Systems & Software and Dominion Voting Systems, with new regulations and financial burdens. Together, the companies make up about 80 percent of all voting machines used in the country and both have far-reaching lobbying arms in Washington D.C. Many of those lobbyists have contributed to the McConnell campaign, reported Sludge last month, an investigative outlet that focuses on money in politics.
Sludge found that Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck lobbyist David Cohen, who has worked on behalf of Dominion Voting Systems this year, donated $2,000 to McConnell during this time. Brian Wild, who works with Cohen and has also lobbied Dominion, gave McConnell $1,000.

McConnell blocks two election security bills. Headline dated for today (7-25-19)
This is what we are up against after Mueller's testimony yesterday.
The move comes a day after former special counsel Robert Mueller warned about election meddling in 2020, saying Russia was laying the groundwork to interfere in the 2020 election "as we sit here."
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) had tried to get consent Thursday to pass a House bill that requires the use of paper ballots and includes funding for the Election Assistance Commission. It passed the House 225-184 with Republican voting for it.
But McConnell objected, saying Schumer was trying to pass partisan legislation.
Clearly this request is not a serious effort to make a law. Clearly something so partisan that it only received one single solitary Republican vote in the House is not going to travel through the Senate by unanimous consent, McConnell said.

18 Year Old U.S. Born Citizen Detained By Border Officials Said Conditions Were So Bad
Apparently it doesn't matter under this administration if a person has 3 different items to prove their U.S. Citizenship. This 18 year old was wrongfully detained and was denied basic human rights.
During the 23 days he was in the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Galicia was not allowed to shower, he told The Dallas Morning News, which first reported his story.
The teen said he lost 26 pounds during his time in the immigrant detention center, and said officers didn't provide him with enough food. He was crammed into an overcrowded holding area with 60 other men. They slept on the floor with aluminum-foil blankets some even had to sleep in the bathroom area, he said.
Some of the men were very sick and were bitten by ticks, but were afraid to ask for a doctor because CBP officers told them their stay would start over if they did, Galicia said.

Suspect Arrested In Death Of AA Museum Founder Sadie Roberts-Joseph
The death of Sadie Roberts-Joseph, who founded an African American museum in Baton Rouge and teamed up with police on an anti-drug and violence program, was ruled a homicide by "traumatic asphyxia, including suffocation," according to an autopsy report.
Ronn Jermaine Bell, 37, a convicted sex offender, was taken into custody Tuesday on a charge of first-degree murder, police said.
Bell was living in one of the homes Roberts-Joseph was renting out and it is believed he was several months behind in rent payments, police said. Authorities estimated Bell owed Roberts-Joseph $1,200.

A quick note about family pets and fireworks
I don't have a dog but I do have cats. The one cat loves thunderstorms but hates the noise from the vacuum sweeper. The other cat hates thunderstorms but doesn't mind the noise from the vacuum sweeper.
For both the public and neighborhood fireworks, I turn on both TV's, close all windows and drapes, turn on the central air unit and set-up floor fans in various places all for noise blockers. Even though I set all these noise blockers up, the cat that hates thunderstorms ends up being an all night lap kitty on July 4th.
Some (hopefully) helpful tips that I've found online for homes with dogs:
1. Exercise them during the day before the loud festivities begin.
2. Make sure they have time to eat and go potty before dusk.
3. Keep them occupied during the fireworks. Hand out treats and bring out a new toy. Or maybe give them a toy that has treats inside it.
4. Use a Thundershirt on them. Some websites that I was reading claimed wrapping an Ace bandage around their midsection would be as effective as a Thundershirt.
5. The veterinarian may have relaxer to give to your beloved family pet. It won't take away their fear but it will help relax them.
6. Some dogs feel safe in crate. It may be helpful to leave the door open on the crate so that they can come and go as they please. Just don't forget to put a blanket and a few toys in the crate.
If anyone else has helpful tips to share, any insight is welcomed.
Good luck tonight, Pet Parents. I hope everyone has a safe 4th of July!
