Jim Carrey says Fox News slandered him in its coverage of his comedy web video

Comedian Jim Carrey attacked Fox News on Friday, claiming the network had slandered him in its coverage of his web video "Cold Dead Hand," which was released on the comedy site Funny or Die.

The "Mr. Popper's Penguins" star said he would have sued Fox News "if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery."

In the video, Carrey plays a country singer on the popular 1970s show "Hee Haw," as well as former Oscar-winner and NRA president Charlton Heston, who shoots his own foot off at the end of the video.

Carrey, 51, said his video was made to spotlight his "stand against large magazines and assault rifles."

Calling Fox News "Fux News" in the press release sent out by his publicist, the "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" star also labeled the number one cable news channel "a media Colostomy bag."

Why are you an atheist?

I'm an atheist because I just never believed in the existence of a God. I think rationally. Why are YOU an atheist, if you are one?

Jurassic Park 4 to be directed by Colin Trevorrow

The long awaited Jurassic Park 4 will be directed by little-known director Colin Trevorrow, Universal Pictures has said.

Trevorrow, 36, made his feature film directorial debut in 2012 with the time travel comedy, Safety Not Guaranteed.

Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two instalments of the lucrative $1.9bn (1.26bn) dinosaur franchise, will executive produce the fourth film.

The movie - which will be made in 3D - is due for release in June 2014.

Spielberg announced in 2011 that Jurassic Park 4 was in development, much to the delight of fans who will have waited 13 years when the fourth film hits the big screen.

Carnival to fly passengers home after another cruise failure

http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/14/travel/cruise-ship-trouble/index.html?hpt=hp_bn1

Carnival Cruise Lines will fly all passengers on one of its cruises back to Florida after the ship suffered a generator failure while docked in the Caribbean.

The experience on the Carnival Dream became something of a nightmare for some passengers Wednesday when power went off, some toilets stopped working, and no one was allowed to get off the vessel even though the ship was docked at Philipsburg, St. Maarten, in the eastern Caribbean.

Although power had been restored and facilities were functioning again, the ship still couldn't leave port.

Cruise passengers received a letter from the captain, according to a passenger who e-mailed a photo of the correspondence to CNN.

Captain Massimo Marino told passengers they will be booked on flights to Orlando or another destination. Passengers with cars at Port Canaveral will be bused from Orlando to the facility about an hour away.

The letter also offers passengers a three-day refund and a half-price cruise in the future.

New York woman holding baby falls from 8th floor to her death

http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/14/justice/new-york-baby-mother-fall/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

A woman plunged to her death from the eighth floor of an apartment building in New York, with her baby clutched in her arms.

The 10-month-old boy miraculously survived and was in critical but stable condition at a Harlem hospital Thursday, police said.

A New York police spokesman confirmed that the woman left behind a suicide note behind.

Bystanders were shocked when they saw the 45-year-old mother fall Wednesday afternoon.

"I wish I never witnessed that," Steven Dominguez told CNN affiliate WPIX. "It's disturbing, and horrible. The baby bounced off her chest onto the floor, face down and was crying. My mother tried to pick up the baby, but there was already a detective there."

Earlier, neighbor said he heard yelling coming from the woman's apartment before she fell.

The woman was arguing with a man, said Christian Johnson, a neighbor.

"I came home, they were arguing," Johnson told WPIX. "I actually stopped to listen, and I heard screaming and the baby was crying. He just kept saying why wouldn't you pick up the phone, why would you put that stress on me? Why wouldn't you pick up the phone, why, why? He was screaming, 'why, why'?"

Police did not release the name of the victim, but neighbors said she was a lawyer and was married.
