Sure looked like it - not only to me but a bunch of other people who tweaked your nose for it.

I could always offer a link to the OP if anyone else feels like doubting me. And there was no 'poor reading comprehension' on our part either. This whole series of denials on your part when the proof's there in black and white (unless you've since hidden your posts) leaves me disinclined to listen to you in the future.

Uh.... why were you scolding others elsewhere on DU for focusing on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

when you seem to have no qualms about spotlighting the very same thing on your show? Can't have it both ways, Steven. Must admit I'm surprised at this - I expected better from you. You have a great platform from which to communicate; be consistent.

Yes, you are - but that still doesn't make your attitude any more justifiable. The right to speak,

even when you're essentially telling others to shut up, will not save you the discomfort of contrary responses, with which I totally agree btw.

My dad was a career military man, and so were my brothers.

If any of us had said a single word promoting war, I shudder to think of the consequences. Among many other things, General Omar Bradley was right about Nam: wrong time, wrong place, wrong war. People who think like Patton would bring on WWIII in a heartbeat. Then we could all go up in flames - but that would sure show the Ruskies!

Are we then to discuss only matters you yourself find worthy?

This is an enormously critical situation. Instead of demeaning those who bother to comment on it, why not instead celebrate the good sense and solidarity of purpose (for once) being expressed? I find good sense and solidarity worthy of applause.

Even the Irish can't argue with Sun Tzu. No point starting a fight nobody can win.

I'm always in awe of that man's powerful influence reaching across the centuries.

March 3, 2014

Obvious though it might be to those older and wiser, the point DOES need to be stated for the sake

of our lurkers, trolls, and potentially ignorant passersby. Maybe even the silent DUer at risk from the forces of darkness to be found everywhere IRL. I find the OP timely and appreciate it. Just because there's not a general hue and cry for WAR! here, at least not as yet, doesn't detract from the value of the statement one whit.

Depraved GOP Poster Boy!

Can't say more now, gotta run puke.

Thank you, all truly wonderful ideas if a person has $ and/or lives near civilization. Neither

applies to me. Somebody gave me the 4 bags of beans because they didn't know what to do with them. I have no idea where their friend got the beans, but it certainly wasn't anywhere around here. Although it's the county seat, by golly, this speck on the road is so small it doesn't even appear on many maps.

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
