Thanks.

Pets are well, thank you. Molly Maguire is too small and slow to catch squirrels, but Brigid Malone, the smooth-coat JRT which is the same as a foxhound a hundred years ago, has proven herself quite the hunter. She's built for speed; 14" high at the shoulder and mostly legs. BrOne week in winter she caught 8 in one day. Didn't cost me a dime to feed her that day. Since squirrels are pretty smart, I've developed the idea that Brigid MIGHT be jumping the fence to hunt in the overgrown empty lot acros the back alley when she figures I won't find out, and then maybe she brings her catch home to eat. She's pretty smart herself.

As for neighbors I've got new ones on the northside now. A young and growing family. They're racists but for some reason are still rather nice to me, especially inexplicable because they know I'm a flaming liberal................... At long last the hateful old coot on the southside croaked and now another young family has bought the place. Around here odds are high that they're at least very conservative, but I've met them several times across the fence and they seem truly congenial. They're 2 kids and growing also.

Recovering Old Posts (x-posted from Welcome&Help)

I haven't been on DU for over a year due to pressures elsewhere; but now that I've reactivated my account, none of the old posts from way back show up. Does anyone know how I might recover them? I'm using the same account info as before except Skinner was kind enough to send me a new password when the automatic system wouldn't. So only the password changed.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Hi, it's me again

After a year or more, but I've missed you folks. Hope to visit more often after the general.

I also hope the group will continue after POTUS leaves office; please let me know if it morphs into a group promoting the appointment of Barack Hussein Obama to the SCOTUS.

On Pins and Needles for Tomorrow

Whatever happens, Berners, it ain't over til the fat lady sings and I'm not about to.

Haven't posted in this group before, been busy promoting Bernie elsewhere - but I feel the need to return to DU's warm embrace at times.

Remember, vote early and often.

Tell your CONservative 'friends' if you have any that the GOP votes on Wednesday from now on.

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
