Deplorable - Collins: Reasonable Doubt Standard for Republicans, Reasonable Suspicion for Democrats!

Published September 16...this writer had it pegged all along.

https://www.politicususa.com/2018/09/16/susan-collins-al-franken-brett-kavanaugh.html

"Here’s your daily hypocrisy alert. I mean, the Republican Party no longer stands for anything so this is a pointless exercise because not only do they not stand for anything (say hello to the deficit they almost doubled in a year after spending eight years threatening the country because they cared about deficits so much) but they shamelessly do not care that they are hypocrites.

So this is only for those who are still selling themselves as “moderates.” Hi, Senator Collins."

.....

That’s right. His own party wanted him to step down because Democrats try to walk their talk when it comes to women these days, unlike Republicans who keep telling us there is no war on women, while they refuse to fund the violence against women act, elect a sexual predator to the White House, have a track record of horrible comments when it comes to rape, recently ran a Roy Moore for Senate who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager, and now they want to rush through yet another sexual predator to the Supreme Court.

Collins also said the Franken allegations were “credible, disgusting and appalling.”

Susan Collins thought Al Franken wasn’t fit for the Senate after he tried to force a kiss on someone and other accusations of this nature. Again I’m not defending this, but put up next to what Kavanaugh is credibly accused of – the woman accusing Kavanaugh took an FBI lie detector test and passed, on top of other incidents that suggest merit to her claim- the two are not on the same playing field at all.

..........................

If Republicans did not have Hypocrisy and a media willing to forget the word exists what would they have left?

Susan? All America sees you clearly, finally and personally I now consider you an official Deplorable.

Another jaw dropping revelation in the NYT bombshell. "Hobbesian"...I learned a new word!

"As the chip episode demonstrated, father and son were of one mind about rules and regulations, viewing them as annoyances to be finessed or, when necessary, ignored. As described by family members and associates in interviews and sworn testimony, theirs was an intimate, endless confederacy sealed by blood, shared secrets and a HOBBESIAN view of what it took to dominate and win.

They talked almost daily and saw each other most weekends. Donald Trump sat at his father’s right hand at family meals and participated in his father’s monthly strategy sessions with his closest advisers. Fred Trump was a silent, watchful presence at many of Donald Trump’s news conferences.

“I probably knew my father as well or better than anybody,” Donald Trump said in a 2000 deposition.

They were both fluent in the language of half-truths and lies, interviews and records show. They both delighted in transgressing without getting caught. They were both wizards at manipulating the value of their assets, making them appear worth a lot or a little depending on their needs."

..............

Hobbesian

English philosopher and political theorist Thomas Hobbes, best known for his book Leviathan (1651), in which he argues that the only way to secure civil society is through universal submission to the absolute authority of a sovereign.

Hobbes?i·an adj.

So not just Hitler, but Thomas Hobbes, not just Mien Kiempf, Leviathan.

In defence of Michael Moore...

Why is Moores's point that the only two parties with any political power forever and ever being at least somewhat beholden to corporate interests be controversial?

It is of course true that Republicans are very different in being openly tied to corporations and particularly Wall Street and banks and fossil fuel, etc. That they are corrupt and rotten through and through is obvious by now to the public. It is a very smart thing to make Republican corruption a top election plank.

But if Democratics do not cut the cord with corporate cash...Citizens United does not mean we have to play by a no rule rule book...how does the pubic see the difference? Bernie drew a clear line in the sand about that and was crucified from all sides because the whole thing unfortunately became tribal and the issue got buried. The S word was mentioned and all hell broke out.

Can't we have a civil discussion anymore? Is it because the discussion fuels discomfort? Isn't discomfort part of debate and discussion in search of reformation? In example, talk about the definition "white privilege" to a room full of mainly white folk who think they know what it means and you might grasp my point. I've been there.

Case in illustration...Presidential inaugurations.

Taxpayer portion of the ceremony is in the ball park of one million dollars, for security, set up, refreshments, etc...

The cost of the week long festivities rises into the tens of millions and Shitler's near 100 million!

Check out all past President's inauguration costs...it is obscene. It is a coronation event that belongs in Game of Thrones, not in a representative democracy. And the public sees no difference by party as the pageantry unfolds. Could we begin there and refuse corporate cash for that at least?

Bias, corporate bias in my example, is bad. The perception of bias is even worse. Americans may know Republicans are biased towards corporations but at least they can look a real monster in the eye and deal with it.

With perception of bias the monsters are only limited by the imagination.

Which is what Moore is trying to tell us and making us very, very uncomfortable.

.........

P.s. Have not seen the movie because no need...Moore is repeating the unlearned lesson, is all.

Trio of Tropical Cyclones in the Pacific take aim at Hawaii, South Korea and Japan

Source: Washington Post

Three tropical cyclones are lined up in the Pacific Ocean, and one, Hurricane Lane, may hit Hawaii in a few days. The other two, Typhoons Soulik and Cimaron, will crash into east Asia, directly affecting South Korea and Japan later this week.

All three storms contain winds of at least 74 mph, indicating hurricane strength (typhoons and hurricanes are the same kind of storm, but have different names depending on the section of ocean they traverse). Typhoons Soulik and Cimaron are on a collision course with the Asian continent, and effects from torrential rain, strong winds, and dangerous surf appear unavoidable.

The cyclone bearing down on Japan, Soulik, is the big one, but the one near Korea, Cimaron, will hit heavily populated areas, last one was 4 years ago.

For so many reasons, what is the fucking point of responding to any Unhinged Trump tweet thread?

My pledge today is never to do so ever again, until we can publicly unravel the entire criminal enterprise, starting in January. So I say in the meantime that unravelling these shit stained balls of Twitter yarn is more than pointless...just leaving behind energy wasted, and hands shit stained, until the next ball is tossed out.

Really?

That is all.

NJ Hosts Taken Off Air After "Turban Man" Jabs at State (Sikh) AG - NY Post

https://nypost.com/2018/07/26/nj-radio-hosts-taken-off-air-after-turban-man-jabs-at-state-ag/

A pair of hosts on one of New Jersey’s top radio stations have been bounced from the airwaves after they mocked the state’s attorney general — who is a Sikh-American — as “turban man” on the air, the station said early Thursday.

Dennis Malloy and Judi Franco made the inflammatory comments about Attorney General Gurbir Grewal on their Wednesday afternoon show on New Jersey 101.5 while talking about his plan to suspend marijuana prosecutions.

“You know the new attorney general? I’m never going to know his name, I’m just gonna say the guy with the turban,” said Malloy.

“Turban man!” Franco could be heard saying.

Malloy, laughing, then blames Grewal, who wears a turban as part of his faith, for his inability to remember his name.

“If it offends you, then don’t wear the turban, man, and I’ll remember your name,” Malloy laughed. “But Turban Man — is that highly offensive?”

“To me? No. To people who wear turbans, could be,” replied Franco.

More Trumpistanis emboldened by hate speech run amok.

But free speech is fighting back, finally.
