Leland Yee should be nominated for an award

Leland Yee has led the fight in California against guns. He has sponsored legislation that would strengthen California's already strict gun control laws even more. Sen Leland Yee fought against the dreaded bullet button loophole that allows gun owners to legally skirt California's assault weapon ban.

A google search of Sen. Leland Yee will tell more about this amazing man and his character.

R I Senator tells pro gun rights gentleman to F*ck himself

In this video, a state senator tells a gentleman to fornicate himself.

Do you think this is an effective way to reach across the line and pass sensible gun control laws?

Or should perhaps the senator been a bit more polite to the gentleman?

1st Amendment protects speech involving 2nd Amendment

A man in Illinois expressed his views on the Second Amendment. In response, the police department took away his FOID card and his guns. The man sued the police to get them back, and the police said he shouldn't have the right to do that.

The nice judge agreed and said the man only wrote stuff that the police didn't agree with and made the police return the man's guns and FOID card.

The man sued the police and said his exercising free speech should not put him in the same category as people who are mentally unstable or dangerous. The police disagreed.

The nice judge said not so fast. The man can continue with his case against the police to have a judge decide whether or not his second amendment rights were taken away by the police simply because they disagreed with what he said.

New proposal to include pump action guns as assault weapons.

Section 1. Subdivision 22 of section 265.00 of the penal law is
2 REPEALED and a new subdivision 22 is added to read as follows:
3 22. "ASSAULT WEAPON" MEANS ANY:
4 (A) SEMI-AUTOMATIC OR PUMP-ACTION RIFLE THAT HAS THE CAPACITY TO
5 ACCEPT A DETACHABLE MAGAZINE AND HAS ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

Closing the pump action loophole.

And you wonder why gun nutters be fighting back.

Obama administration warns about overzealous background checks

Context is everything.

Some advocate for stronger background checks, claiming that strict checks are good.

Others advocate for caution, saying background checks can be abused to promote an agenda.

Today, the Obama administration issued this warning regarding background checks. It seems they are concerned that a background check system could be abused.

Understanding the other side USSR v Russia and the long telegram of 1947

There's a lot of talk here on what the US and the rest of the world should do in response to the Russian situation with Crimea.

One aspect that I haven't seen is any discussion as to the nature of the current Russian government. Governments do not always follow rational model decision making, case in point is look at North Korea.

For a point of reference and discussion, I'd suggest reviewing the Long Telegraph, written by George F. Kennan in 1947. The principles do not necessarily apply to modern Russia, but the starting point does - how does the existing government of any given country make decisions. Very often mistakes in interpretation coupled with mistakes in implementation greatly outweigh how decisions are made as opposed to a rational basis model of decision making.

NRA and ACLU join forces

The NRA and the ACLU are on the same side in the case against the NSA.

http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2014/3/nra-files-friend-of-the-court-brief-in-appeal-of-nsa-spying-case.aspx

The mutual claim is that Citizens of the United States have the right to assemble without being on a government watch list.

Agree with it, dismiss it since its from the NRA, or even stick your fingers in your ears and sing tingly lingy loo.

Its being posted here for reference only.

Terrorist threat charges when child threatens to brings gun

to school.

The five year old child allegedly threatened to bring a pink hello kitty bubble gun to class, and was suspended for making terrorist threats.

She did not actually bring the gun, which has the capacity to shoot multiple rounds of bubbles contained in a high capacity soap water container.

The suspension was reduced to two days and the child underwent a psychological evaluation.

This is not the first time soap bubbles have caused such a reaction. Canadian officer "Bubbles" threatened to charge a bubble blowing protester with assault if one of her soap bubbles touched him.

10 Year old boy suspended for bringing gun

shaped fingers to school.

Ten-year-old Nathan Entingh was recently suspended from school for three days for making his fingers in the shape of a gun. His father, Paul Entingh, says that the boy was "goofing off" with his friends in fifth grade science class when the teacher took him out of the room, invoking Ohio's zero-tolerance policy.

President Obama apparently misspelled the word respect by leaving out the first E.

Initial investigations point to Dan Quayle, who was found with yet another extra E at the end of his potato(e).

Carry on.
