87 choke holds ... WTF

[link:http://www.vocativ.com/usa/nyc/87-chokehold-complaints-nypd/|

87 chokehold complaints were filed against the NYPD in 2014

Protests have erupted across the country after a grand jury chose not to indict the police officer who put Eric Garner in a chokehold. But an investigation from Vocativ reveals that chokeholds are surprisingly popular for the NYPD.

Even though the chokehold is prohibited by the NYPD, there were 87 chokehold complaints filed against the NYPD in 2014. Vocativ looked at the complaints filed against the NYPD through the Civilian Complaints Board and discovered that civilians filed hundreds of "use of force" complaints, including the 87 for chokeholds.
Chokeholds were the second most common "use of force" complaints, after "officers pointing guns at people," which took the top spot at 140 complaints. The most common "abuse of authority" complaints, meanwhile, included searching and entering as well as random searches, with 366 complaints each. But Vocativ notes that chokehold complaints are, unfortunately, "difficult to prove" — only one of the 87 complaints was "substantiated" and resulted in disciplinary action by the NYPD.

Joe Scarborough, "Mr. High and Mighty"

..... just another arrogant, talking head who has no business giving anyone his moralistic take on anything, especially the Mike Brown killing. This link goes into detail about a female staffer found dead in his office.

The Ugly Story in Joe Scarborough's Political Closet

If "Morning Joe" does wind up on a ballot somewhere, voters might want to keep this question in mind: Was a young woman once murdered in Joe Scarborough's office?

Many Americans probably have forgotten, or never knew, that a 28-year-old female staff member was found dead in the summer of 2001 in the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-FL). Officials in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, determined that Lori Klausutis died from an accident. The mainstream press largely ignored the case, but our review of several investigative reports indicates the official finding is highly questionable ................

Is it time for Justice, Clarence Thomas?

Now that Bill Cosby and Jian (from the CBC) are getting called out for their despicable past ........... don't you think it is about time someone in the media does a comprehensive report on Justice Clarence Thomas? He lied to Congress to get his job on the Supreme Court ... Anita Hill was telling the truth .... and more women have come forward to say the same things as Anita Hill. Sound familiar ?Thomas is the most pathetic judge on the Supreme Court, never asks any questions and votes with Scalia every time. He needs to be brought up on perjury charges at the least. A great summary below for all of you who were not old enough to watch what happened. BTW, I watched the hearing and thought that Joe Biden was running a clown show.

Sinead O'Connor

This is a beautiful song by the female Priest, Sinead O'Connor. In it, she offers healing for herself. Abused as a child by her family and her church, the institutions that were supposed to protect her, she continues to protest. She may not be liked by some but she stands up to the powerful by loving the weak, one must respect that. This is for the child in all of us.

Fire ex-military from police force

Not only has the American police force been getting ex-military equipment but has also been getting ex-soldiers from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Police departments actively recruit veterans - "Green to Blue" programs. Many of these police forces are made up of entirely of ex-military who are using the same tactics that they used in war zones - the hair trigger, shoot first gang. They are not retrained well enough to work on our streets, resorting to their war training. The police violate the constitutional rights of our fellow citizens more everyday, especially the citizens should have dark skin .... combat flashbacks? with a side order of racism for some? It is time to take away the military hardware and eliminate the war mentality from the police. The only way to do this is either retrain the
ex-military police of fire them, clean house. I bet that the officer who shot Michael Brown served in war. Enough is enough, why should I be more worried about getting abused or killed by the police then the criminals, even in our homes?

Evolution of the "Hipster"

If you are older like me and want to know about what is referred to as the "Hipster" lifestyle, I suggest watching the series, "Girls." It got me thinking, this group of young folks are the newest version of what has been around for decades. I am glad they are still out there. The name has changed but they share the same qualities - briefly- they are real free thinking individuals, often artistic and highly intelligent, rebelling against the BS so they break societal norms of dress and lifestyle. They don't care what others think. It's a risky choice that can easily have unhappy endings but they aren't aware of this - they can't live any other way. But you know, they really get a chance to live life and to find out who they really are. This is a far better choice then being some brainless follower. Here is my Evolution of the Hipster. What do you think? What have I missed?
